We all know what vowels are, right? The “a”, “e”, “i”, “o”, and “u” letters in the alphabet. It’s hard to find words that don’t have vowels in them. Sometimes we include the “y” as part of a vowel. You often hear our vowels are “a,e,i,o,u, and sometimes y”. For those that like to play Scrabble, knowing what words don’t contain a vowel can be very important. If you’re stuck with no vowels in Scrabble; then I sure hope you have a “y” as one of your letters. The “y” can help you spell many words.
When I was younger, I would try to think of words that didn’t have a vowel in them. I finally discovered that “sky” didn’t have a true vowel in it and figured it was probably the only word in the world with no vowels in it. Well I was wrong and there is actually a lot of words that don’t have a vowel in them. How many words do you know with no vowels? Thanks to a recent discussion on Yahoo, I can now give you a pretty good list of words with no vowels in them. According to one person, the word “cwm” is a real word and one that you could use in the Scrabble Games. Finding a little Scrabble help is always wise and you may want to save this blog post to your favorites, so you have a little cheat sheet playing Scrabble. Who knows, you may just become a Championship Scrabble Player!
