Simple things are worth blogging about

It was a moment in time that will never be forgotten for many Georgia residents that are fans of Little League baseball. A little team from Warner Robins, Georgia was taking on the world in baseball. They faced some really good teams back in 2007 and was beating them all. It came down to 2 teams and only 1 could leave the field in victory. It was Warner Robins against the Little Leaguers from Japan and the score was very tight. It took just one swing of the bat from a player wearing the gold and red from Warner Robins to give Georgia a little recognition on the World Stage of Little League Baseball.
His name was Dalton Carriker and it was him that hit the ball over the fence for a walk-off home run that settled the 2007 World Series. Dalton wasn’t just a hero to his teammates, coaches, friends, and family. Oh no, he was a hero for every resident living in Georgia that day and Warner Robins put the Peach State on the map. A year later a group of young boys from Columbus, Georgia did that exact same thing and they brought the 2008 World Series title home to Georgia. The Little League success has been awesome in Williamsport, Pennsylvania the last 2 years and now we have a new team to stand behind.
The 2009 Warner Robins team is representing us in great honors with their superb play. The manager Randy Jones has the boys swinging the bats and pitching lights out baseball in Williamsport. They have just now completed the first pool play and they finished with perfect 3-0 record to advance a step closer to becoming champions. Everyone in Georgia is rising to their feet’s again and watching a group of young men leading us to fame that can be seen all over the world.

They had to beat out some good teams to win the state title in Georgia this year. They also met the challenge of our bordering states trying to represent the region at Williamsport. The team from Tennessee was really good and this was their closest Southeastern game they had on their way to Pennsylvania. Since arriving in Williamsport, the manager Randy Jones has watched his talented crew of sluggers knock off a team from Iowa, Washington, and Staten Island, New York. The team from New York was the other team in their pool A bracket that advanced to the next round. So we may see a rematch here and the team from Staten Island is very good too.

Justin Jones who is the son of the Coach Randy Jones has played like a super star on the diamond. His time on the pitching mound and the power he has provided at the plate has really helped Warner Robins to this point. The guys that make up the batting order from 1-3 have all been impressive. You don’t lose nothing when you see the next 3 guys in the Warner Robins batting order either. The power continues at the end of the line-up and these guys are more than capable of parking one out of the park. Warner Robins has an impressive blend of hitters and pitchers in their line up and they have a great shot of winning the 2009 Little League World Championship. They still have some other good teams wanting to prove they belong too and everything will get decided this week in Williamsport.
