Simple things are worth blogging about

The things you hear about on the news these days really do make you shake your head and wonder who is in charge. This is so true when it comes to America’s legal system and the differences you can find in each U.S. State. You can just look at a couple of NFL players to see how bad things have gotten in our society.
I will start with Plaxico Burress from the New York Giants. He is currently in the NFL headlines and his story is making news all over the country. His crime on America may sound a bit serious, but actually the only person that got hurt was him. He took a hand gun into a nightclub in New York City and the gun accidentally went off. Who knows if he pulled the gun out or not. Who knows what his intentions were that night, when he decided to carry a gun into a NYC nightclub. He is a very rich and famous man and perhaps he had the gun for protection? That makes sense, right? Well sometime during his visit that gun did discharge and he shot himself in the leg. This was very dangerous and someone could have been seriously hurt. It turns out that he was the only one that got hurt and now he has been handed his sentence for the crimes he committed that night. He got 2 years in prison and this won’t be easy for someone that has gotten everything they ever wanted in life (for the most part). A 2 year sentence may not seem like that big of a deal and perhaps you think this sentence does justify his crime.
Now let’s go south to the sunshine state in Florida and see what another NFL player did and what his crime and punishment was. Another NFL wide receiver found his self on the wrong side of the law in Florida and this was because he hit a man with his car. This man died from his injuries that NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth caused. It really doesn’t stop here and it does get worse. The reason Mr. Stallworth ran over this man in Florida was because he was drunk behind the wheel. His drunk driving led to the death of another human being and I’m sure Stallworth wishes he could have that night to do over again. Regardless of how bad he feels, he still ended the life for another innocent citizen that didn’t deserve to die. What did the justice system do for justice in this case? They gave Donte Stallworth a 30 day sentence in jail; which he only served 23 days of that sentence and now he is a free man. Can you believe that? I can’t believe how justice didn’t get served in Florida and with all due respect to Donte Stallworth, he really should still be sitting in jail for his actions of drinking and driving.
There really is no comparison to Plaxico Burress and Donte Stallworth’s crimes, because Stallworth wins this contest easy. The sad part is how Burress will have to be locked up for 2 years while he only hurt his self and Donte not only hurt someone else, but he killed them! The NFL must take up the gap here and hand down a far more serious punishment against Donte Stallworth. The NFL has announced that he is suspended for the entire upcoming NFL season, but is that enough? I think Donte Stallworth doesn’t deserve no more football time on any body’s team and I hope no NFL team will have him again. I believe in given guys a 2nd chance and I fully support Plaxico Burress and even Michael Vick coming back to the NFL, but you don’t get those 2nd chances when you kill someone. What NFL crimes will we see next?
