I know summer just started, but for all of the school kids out there, it is quickly coming to an end. Once the 4th of July holiday has passed us by, the summer just flies downhill. The summer isn’t like it use to be, when most kids could count on a full 3 months of summer vacation. In many parts of the country now, there are fewer than 12 weeks to a child’s summer vacation away from school.

I really feel bad for them and even as an adult, I hate to see the start of school. Many parents welcome the start of a new school year, because they have had to change up their routines with the little ones home now. Since I have no children, it really doesn’t apply to me and I root for the long summers, like most American children are doing right now.

As a parent, you can really salvage this summer break your kids are enjoying right now. If the yearly, summer vacation is over. If not, your kids still have that to look forward to. Getting them outside is a great way to take advantage of the summer days. No young people should be wasting these summer days inside by the computer or TV. I know there has been a few heat warnings in certain parts of the United States. So make sure the temperatures are not too hot outside and you keep a lot of cold beverages close by for the kids to stay hydrated. Safety for our children is always first and there will be plenty of time for summer fun later on. Even after school does start back, you still have some great weather on the weekends for some outside fun.

My family is nervously awaiting for the new school year to start. My twin 5 year old nephews will be starting their first day of public school and we look forward to seeing how they deal with their time at school. They are lucky to have each other and I’m sure it’s a much tougher situation for families; who will see their child off for the first time and headed to school. No need to concentrate on the new school year yet, we still have some summer left, so let the good times continue to roll. I hope your kids have a super time for this 2nd part of summer we are now in. Don’t forget to keep plenty of drinks nearby to quench those thirsty little mouths!
