A company called Taser that is famous for making stun guns to help police and citizens with self-protection, will soon be assisting parents with monitoring their child’s cell phone calls. I’m not hearing no one complaining about privacy laws here, but I’m sure the kids would be if they had a voice in the matter. I do think this new technology will help keep our kids safe and that is what matters the most.

Taser will develop an application called Mobile Protector and this will allow parents to screen their children’s incoming and outgoing calls. Parents will have the ability to block certain phone numbers and even listen-in on their son or daughter’s phone conversations. Mom or Dad could have this monitoring device on their own cell phones or hook it up to their personal computers at home to monitor their kids cell phone usage.

I do believe this new technology will help parents do their parenting skills better and really this new monitoring device is long over due. The Mobile Protector will help kids stay out of trouble. This will work real well for the family that has both parents working a 40 hour job each week. Parents have been buying their kids cell phones, so they could keep tabs on them and have access to their children; while they’re at work. This has worked out well for most families and the cell phone has been a blessing to those busy families. The down side has been the non-stop access our kids have with their friends and problems can arise when our children don’t have any “getaway time” from their friends. The modern kids of today are use to spending time with their friends 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We didn’t have these luxuries when we was younger and it probably kept us out of a lot of trouble.

How Does the Mobile Protector Work?

First of all, listening in on conversations will be something both parties are fully aware of. So no need to panic kids, you will know if Mom or Dad is listening to a specific conversation and there will be a degree of privacy with this new technology from Taser. When a call comes-in to the kid’s phone, it will first go to the parents cell phone. They will get an alert notifying them of the incoming call. Parents can elect to allow the call or block the phone call coming in. They can block the call one time or they can block the call permanently. They will also have the ability to allow the call one time or always allow a certain number to go through. The Mobile Protector will also provide parents with any emails or images that get sent through the cell phones and allow them the ability to allow or block these forms of communication.

The great thing about this new product from Taser is the fact we can give our very young children a cell phone now. We can set the restriction levels real high and have no fears of any strangers getting access to our children via the cell phone. As our children get older, we can increase their freedom on the phone and this will help to build a trust level from parent to child.

Safety Comes First with Teen Drivers

One of the most important features this new technology can give us, is the ability to shut down our kids cell phones. There are too many young lives being lost on our highways and the new trend has been talking or texting while driving down the road. Teen drivers do not need to be using their cell phones while driving and parents could put a stop to this. The Mobile Protector would allow parents the ability to protect them from talking and driving. We can’t stress this enough and there is enough dangers on the roadways without adding cell phones to the mix. If a parent knows their teen driver will be on the roads at a certain time, they could prevent them from talking or texting and I think this makes the new technology from Taser a great thing for all families.

Obviously cost isn’t a concern for parents, if we can avoid the tragic accidents that come from texting or talking on cell phones. However, it will be relatively affordable when the Mobile Protector becomes available this summer to consumers.
