Most of the homes in my state are relatively new. Maybe you have heard of a guy from the Civil War by the name of Sherman? He got happy with the matches and set off a few fires, so we don’t have a lot of those colonial-looking homes, like they do in the southern part of the state or along the coast near Savannah, GA. I really like some of those older-style homes and how they will have these victorian pedestal mailboxes out in their tiny, but level front yards.

Some friends of mine and I were down in the Savannah, Georgia area not long ago. We were all picking out which big house we would like to live in the most. I had trouble finding the perfect Savannah home, but I do remember the one I picked had one of these green victorian mailboxes in their yard and for some reason that mail box stuck out in my mind. I pictured myself going to check the mail and how it was such a short walk from the front door to the mailbox. My home now has a real steep driveway and it’s not an easy chore going to check the mail at my house. So I think I fell in love with the mailbox and just how close it was to the front door.

There are a lot of other states that also have these large colonial homes; which are 200 or more years old. Many of these homes that have the southern charm and nestled close together, can be found all along the eastern seaboard of the United States. If you currently live in one of these colonial homes or near one; do you have a mailbox nearby your front door? Maybe your mail holder is a victorian wall mailbox and it’s hanging just above the wrap-around porch, that makes a complete circle around your home? Now if you live in South Georgia and you own a big colonial home and have one of these pedestal mail boxes in the Victorian-style and it is green; then you are the lucky ones living in my dream Georgia coastal home! I think that would be pretty freaky, if the real homeowners did come online and read about me liking their house, level yard, and green mail box. It is a small world and I have seen stranger things happen, so I wouldn’t be totally surprised, but it would shock me just a little.
