Book – Buried Treasures of the Appalachians

How much money did you make the last time you read a book? Has anyone ever paid you to read a book before? Well maybe you aren’t reading the right kinds of books, because I know of some that will pay you to read them. We can start with W.C. Jameson’s book called Buried Treasures of the Appalachians. All you need to do is order this book online, read it from cover to cover, and then go out and find these buried treasures in or around the Appalachian States. What? You don’t believe me? I know, you’re just like all of the other ones and you think all of these stories told by the old timers is legends and old wise tales (not “old wives tales“). The reason these treasures remain buried and hidden, is because no one believes the old legends anymore. The stories keep getting passed generation to generation, but the actual treasure hunting never gets done.

However, you may be right. These may just be old stories and hold no truth. You could still compare this book with the last book you read. If you were going to earn any money from a book you just read; then the chances would be very high, that the buried treasures in those eastern U.S. mountains would be the winner. Am I correct now?  Now you see my point! If any book out there is going to help you find new wealth in your life, then this book is as good as any other book.

I’ve grown up in North Georgia (part of the Appalachians) and have heard about the Indian Legends my whole life. The stories that claim they all came together the night before they were to leave out on the Trail of Tears and how they buried their treasures. They knew the white man would take it away from them, so all their valuables and gold got placed in a very secretive location. Several different Indian tribes did this as a group, but legend has it, that one tribe didn’t agree with the others, so they took it upon their self to hide their own gold and valuable possessions in another location. The Trail of Tears took place in the 1830′s and for about the last 180 years, the people around here are still searching for the Native American treasures.

This book by W.C. Jameson is filled with 40 different stories and a wide-range of treasures each legend contains. Some of the buried treasures that are still lost in the Appalachians is Confederate treasures and caves stacked with golf ingots. I’m sure there would have to be a few legends involving gold too. These stories also include the extra details, like how skeletons are guarding some treasures or how curses will be placed on someone for finding the lost treasure. This is very interesting stuff to me and it should be for you too. Especially if you currently live around some of these Appalachian areas. This book does include maps of the various locations, so you can see how close you are to these treasures now.

If you would like a copy of this book, please go to Buy.com and buy it on sale there. They also have other books related to lost or hidden treasures. If the Native Americans or Indians is an interest of yours, I did see several books about them over there too. They do have a search feature you can use on their website. It’s the best way to find certain book titles or just search for a topic and you will get a list of all the books they have for that specific topic. If you have already read Buried Treasures of the Appalachians by W.C. Jameson, please let me know your opinions or thoughts on the legends told in this book. Good luck and happy treasure hunting to all!

  • If you live in the good old U.S. of A. , you may want to listen up and see if your current lifestyle could be leading you into a head-on collision for a stroke. A stroke occurs when the blood flow to the brain or in the brain gets disturbed. There are a few different things that causes this to happen and that’s why there are different kinds of strokes. A blood vessel that leaks or suddenly bursts inside the brain is known as a hemorrhagic stroke. If the blood flow disturbance is outside of the brain, but blood flowing to the brain gets interrupted, you would then be looking at a ischemic stroke.

    2 Major Types of Stroke

There is also a 3rd type of stroke that can occur and it is less life-threatening. A TIA or mini stroke is when the artery leading to or inside the brain gets blocked for a short period of time. One of the most important things about a stroke is knowing the symptoms that someone is having; while a stroke is in progress. If you’re reading this now thinking you or someone you know is having a stroke, please stop and contact your doctor, local emergency service, or dial 9-1-1.

    Symptoms for a Hemorrhagie Stroke

Sudden feeling of pressure on the brain. A severe headache develops out of the blue. Also associated with dizziness, neck stiffness, vomiting, confusion, and seizures.

    Symptoms for a Ischemic Stroke

Numbness or feeling paralyzed on just one side of the body. Our brain controls the opposite sides of our bodies. If the paralyzing effects are occurring on your left side and it is due from a stroke; the problem would be happening on the right side of the brain and vice versa for the right side of your body which was experiencing these same symptoms.

These are the stroke symptoms and everyone should be aware of what they are. The 3rd leading cause of death in the United States is from people that have 1 of these 2 types of strokes. The quicker medical attention can be applied, the better chances Americans will have surviving the stroke. Before we ever get to these critical stages, let’s understand what causes these strokes in the first place and prevent them from happening. This may sound like a cliche, but it’s the truth when discussing a stroke and that is “prevention is our best weapon” or “prevention is our best medicine“.  How do I prevent a stroke? By learning and knowing the causes of a stroke and applying it to your daily lives.

Top 7 Causes for a Stroke

    1. High-Fat Diet

    2. Being Overweight

    3. Smoking

    4. Race

    5. Being Single

    6. Depression

    7. Geography

If we avoid all 7 of these leading causes of stroke, we wouldn’t have to worry about strokes in this country. The sad part, we can’t control some of the things on the list. How do you change your race? Oh wait, maybe Michael Jackson covered that one, but seriously? Your race and the area of the country you were born in, you really have no control. However, you can still use this information to help you. People that are black have a higher risk level for a stroke than white people. A person living in the southeastern U.S. has a higher chance for a stroke; than someone living in another part of the United States. The people that should be worrying about strokes the most, would be black men living in the south. People living in the southeastern part of the country also should be very concerned too.

No need to worry about the things you can’t control, just know if you are or aren’t in the high risk levels for race and geography. We can control our diets and that’s the biggest reason for strokes in the first place. Being overweight and smoking are two more things we do have control over. Looking up at the list and seeing yourself on 1 or 2 of the causes for stroke is not a big concern. If you see your current lifestyle fitting 5 or more things on the list above, you must make a change now or a stroke will be in your future. Prevention is our only way out and it needs to start today!

  • Quick Weight Loss for Women

No woman is ever happy with her weight and she’s always looking to lose more of it, whether she needs to or not. There is a diet product that was created just for women. Since it was designed specifically for women, it will probably be a lot more effective than the diet pills men and women both can take. Another reason I believe this diet formula would be effective for women, is because it’s the most popular diet pill in America today. A product doesn’t become popular if it don’t work and this is especially true; when it comes to diet pills. So are you ladies ready to try a product that is popular and made just for you? If so, you will want to look for slimquick the next time you want to lose some extra weight quick. Don’t forget to eat sensible meals and exercise as much as you can each week. If your food diet is good and you’re exercising regularly; then this well-known diet pill for women should be the cherry on top!

  • Why the Name Cookie?

    Well…

Even though these chocolate chip cookies look tasty and now I am craving cookies; this isn’t exactly the right “cookie” I was referring to. I was curious to why the smartest people in the world, you know the ones that created our computers and got us on the World Wide Web, would call a tracking tool a cookie? Wasn’t there any better names available? If you know how our computer cookies got their name or why they are called cookie, please reply back and share your stories with me. I would like to know more about cookies and how they got their name. Also, if you have a good chocolate chip cookie recipe, please reply back and share that with me too!

I did a little research online and seen where a Netscape employee may have had something to do with the naming of computer cookies. His name was Lou Montulli and it was his idea to take the “magic cookie“; which was a package of information for computers and in existence already, and apply it to web communications. He was playing around with this in 1994 and since it was basically the same technology of the magic cookie, it appears Lou would just call it a cookie, when it came to using it with the Internet.

    Hey Lou…

If you’re reading this blog post right now, could you lend me a little help with removing cookies on my computer system now and getting my settings fixed, so they will also be enabled for certain websites? I would be very happy to hear from you and I would even share some of these chocolate chip cookie recipes, that I should be getting any minute now!

Even though people like Lou Montulli and others were playing around with cookies in 1994, it would take a couple of years later, before we (the innocent public) would learn about them. On February 12, 1996 the Financial Times would publish an article on cookies and it was this article that alerted most people in the general public, that this type of technology was even available. This article was the spark that got everyone talking and the media wouldn’t let this story go. The rights to privacy and all of that came out in the last half of the 1996 year. Since a cookie privately stores information about an Internet user and tracks them online; the public and politicians were not too thrilled about this new cookie technology. Even though cookies had been around for more than a year and was already obtaining, recording, and tracking this information, the issues of privacy did come up.

Two hearings took place in 1996 and 1997 concerning cookies. These hearings were hosted by the U.S. Federal Trade Commissions group and not sure exactly what took place in these hearings or what the outcomes were. Since it is now 2010 and those hearings took place more than a decade ago, I believe it’s safe to assume the cookie technology would be allowed to live and thrive online.

Do you believe computer cookies are an invasion of privacy? These cookies have helped a lot of business-minded folks to collect a variety of information on computer users. They have been able to use this information and market certain products or services to people they believe would have an interest in it. The cookie technology has worked like a cash machine, for those that have tried to use the valuable information for financial gain. A lot of websites that use a “checkout” button or some form of “shopping cart” button use cookies to help consumers order multiple products and convenience on their return visits.

I like having some cookies for filling out screen names, passwords, and other data forms; which stays stored on my computer and prevents me from having to retype this information again. I don’t like the cookies that contain a lot of information and take away from our computer’s memory source. Using up too much memory can cause your computer to slow down and become sluggish. You have to go delete these cookies and free-up space, so you can gain speed again online. It really doesn’t matter if you love’em or hate’em; it appears they are here for the long run. People 100 years from now will still probably be asking the same question. Why the name cookie?

  • A Clean Colon is a Healthier You

You probably have seen these colon cleanse ads on the computer or television before. Do you know exactly what they do and how they can help you? What is a colon and why should it be cleaned? Here is a definition I found online for the colon:

    Colon :  (noun)
1: the part of the large intestine between the cecum and the rectum; it extracts moisture from food residues before they are excreted

So as you can see, the colon is a part of our digestive tract. Any part of the digestive tract that gets out of order, could cause big problems for us. These could be painful problems and even lethal in some cases. It also would appear that the colon helps to keep us hydrated, by removing the water from food. I’m not really sure about that, but I do know we must drink a lot of water each day to stay hydrated. Not getting enough water each day; will allow other health problems to emerge and most of us have enough already.

If we don’t have a clean colon, our body could be absorbing a lot of toxins and poisons into the blood stream and this could lead to some major health risks. We could avoid this by searching for the best colon cleanse products the medical community has to offer. Spending a little money now to clean our colon, could save us some major bucks later on, if we did develop any health problems. The procedure is simple and anyone can clean their own colon at home. In recent years, there has been a flood of new products on the market, to help us maintain a clean colon. This is because we know the benefits to having a clean colon now and doctors want to get the message out. I believe they have succeeded and people are taking action. If you haven’t cleaned your colon recently or ever; then you should also take action and help keep your digestive tract working properly.

  • Effective Muscle Builders

Building up muscle in the body doesn’t always have to be hard. Working out and a good diet is two important things that help people to obtain more muscle mass. Once you have a good exercise and weight lifting program in place, you may can get some extra help from various muscle building supplements. People see good results from these supplements and if these products are taken properly, they can probably help you too. You want to look for testosterone boosters that work and avoid those that don’t. No one wants to waste their time and money on muscle building products that are ineffective. You can look online for websites that will rate these products and this should help you to find an effective supplement. Working out is still your first priority and these supplements should only be used as a helper and not your main way to build more muscle.

  • Woods Coming Out of the Woods

Pro golfer Tiger Woods who has cheated on his wife and cheated the game of golf with his drug usage; is now planning to come back. He expects to make his PGA debut in Augusta, Georgia next month at the Masters Tournament. No golf fans or other professional golfers want Tiger Woods there. No descent sponsors want to see Tiger Woods at the Masters in Augusta. Even though no one wants to see or care about Tiger Woods playing golf, he thinks he should be there. Tiger still only cares about Tiger and his return to the Masters Tournament in 2010 shows he has no respect for his wife, his family, or the game of golf. Tiger is still walking his own path and choosing which golf tournaments he should or shouldn’t play.

I don’t think the Masters Crew in Augusta should allow him to walk on their greens. This is a very special place for golfers and it’s the holy sanction for all golfers. People that go out and perfrom the game drug-free are the ones that should be allowed to participate in Augusta. Tiger has clearly cheated the game of golf with performance-enhancing drugs and appeared to be on other drugs at the time of his Thanksgiving Day accident. Tiger tried to apologize and put his family first, but it’s clear the only thing first in Tiger Wood’s life is Tiger himself.

Don’t expect a warm reception in Augusta Mr. Woods. Your childish-like behavior with people talking and flashing cameras while you swing your clubs is only going to get worse. You have showed no one any respect. You let your wife, children, sponsors, and the PGA down and your support system is not there anymore. The fact you would want to return to the most famous golf tournament that gets played each year, only shows you’re still putting yourself above others. You need to participate in charity events and work on helping other families; where the husband has destroyed his family lives. May the boo’s in Augusta be loud and may the chatter not stop when you get ready to tee-off on any hole at the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta.

  • Famous 1967 California Bigfoot

While browsing around online I saw how certain legends and myths were being debunked. One of those famous legends was the Loch Ness Monster or Nessie. We now know how a couple of men in that town used Nessie for a tourist attraction and years later they admitted to how they took the picture and I even watched a movie recently about the whole Loch Ness Monster story. I was surprised to see so many people still giving credit to Roger Patterson, who is dead now, about this famous film footage from 1967 that was took in the northern part of California. A lot of people believe this is a real big foot, based on the fact it wasn’t possible to have such an authentic ape suit during the late 1960′s. Coincidentally enough, this was also the same time frame for the Planet of the Apes. The designer of those costumes was a man named John Chambers and it was director John Landis who accused Chambers of wearing that suit in the Patterson Bigfoot film. Chambers denied he was ever the man in the Patterson film.

Another man came forward more than 30 years later and said he was the one in the gorilla suit. He claimed Roger Paterson was going to pay him $1000 for his work in the suit. His name was Bob Heironimus and his body build is very much like the figure playing Bigfoot in the Roger Patterson film. Not sure I believe the part about the money promised, but his story seems very logical.

1967 Roger Patterson Film Showing Bigfoot
    YouTube Preview Image

Before you start breaking down the footage and trying to determine if this is a man in a suit or an actual bigfoot. You should first learn who Roger Patterson was and a little bit about his life. He was from Yakima, Washington and his partner Bob Gimlin was 1/4 Apache Indian and they had travel to Northern California in the search for bigfoot and bigfoot prints. Before this trip in October of 1967 ever took place, Patterson wrote a book. The name of this book was called “Do Abominable Snowmen of America Really Exist?”. It was published 1 year before the famous film footage was shot and this book came out in October of 1966.

Now I love gold and hope I can find a big gold mine some day. I have an interest in aliens and wouldn’t mind being referred to as an alien expert one day. So let’s just go ahead and give me these titles now and let me be a gold expert and an expert on space aliens. Even though I have expert status in these two areas; what is the possibilities of me finding one of the biggest gold mines or filming a controversial tape showing aliens? Don’t you find it a little strange that Roger Patterson was fascinated with abominable snowmen and bigfoot and he just happens to be the one that sees bigfoot and has a camera in his hands too? They are 6 billion of us now living on this planet and bigfoot isn’t an everyday story. Maybe we only had half of that many people back in 1967, so the 1 in 3 billion chance that bigfoot is finally captured on film, just happens to be a bigfoot expert?

If you think of crime scenes and where a murderer has left a dead body, it isn’t always the detective that finds the body. Outside of the killer, the victim, and any eyewitnesses, the detective is the most likely person to find the dead body first or at least it would seem that way. The detective has all the clues, tips, and evidence they can use to locate where a dead body may be. Still we see half of the victims being found by ordinary folks that are not detectives and don’t have any ties to law enforcement. The reason for this, is because there is so many people out there and we all do so many different things in life. They’re some cases where a off-duty police officer finds a dead body or discovers some piece of evidence that breaks the whole case wide open. Most of the time, it’s people that have other professions in life, that accidentally find their self getting involved with a murder case.

I can’t even calculate the chances of a bigfoot expert being the first one to find a bigfoot. Those numbers go up even more when the bigfoot expert was carrying a camera with them. It’s great that Roger Patterson got his 15 minutes of fame for a trick that nobody got hurt from. Only his 15 minutes has lasted over 40 years now and some of that fame got him on the Merv Griffin Show, the Joey Bishop Show, and countless others working in TV, magazines, and newspapers also got interviews with Mr. Patterson.

The year now is 2010 and we can put the 1967 Patterson film to bed now. That creature has never been seen again and no telling how many searchers were looking for it back in the late 1960′s. A very convincing character named Bob Heironimus is taking credit for wearing the suit on that October 20th day back in 1967. Then if you actually watch the film footage itself, it looks more like a man walking through the woods; than  one of Nature’s creatures taking a walk through the forest.

If you believe the film footage is real because ape suits weren’t like that in the 1960′s or Hollywood can’t recreate what the Patterson film shows; then you’re looking in the wrong direction. Just because someone else can’t get the exact suit, lighting, or camera angle to match up with Roger’s work is a poor reason for given credit to a bigfoot existence. We may wake up tomorrow to find a bigfoot in our front yard and it turns out the Earth has 1000 of these creatures walking the planet right now. It’s things like that where we can start back putting our faith in a bigfoot. When 6 billion people are going through their daily lives and we are only getting back a few dozen reports or sightings each year and none of these have follow-ups to prove the first sighting was real, you have to conclude now that bigfoot is not real.

What’s funny, to me it wouldn’t even be that big of a deal if bigfoot was real. Since we can go to the zoo and see apes are real and they exist, it’s very possible at one time a creature was a couple of feet taller and could walk on two feet like us did exist. While you’re at that zoo watching the apes and monkeys, make sure to go see the giraffe too. Now that’s a mythical creature I could get excited about. A 4 legged animal that is similar in structure to a horse, but has a much bigger body and oh yeah, it has a super long neck that can put it’s head as high as 15 feet in the air with all four’s still on the ground. Compare a picture of bigfoot with a picture of a giraffe and ask yourself which creature would seem more likely to exist?

  • World’s Shortest Man Dies at 21

He wasn’t that old, but he sure did live a full 21 years in this world. I believe a lot of people will be sad; when they wake up today and see that He Pingping has passed away.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, He Pingping was the shortest man on Earth. I’m not sure who the shortest man now will be or if there is a woman that will hold the new record as the shortest living person. He Pingping was very tiny. He only stood a meager 73 centimeters tall. For most people, a centimeter is about the width of their index finger, so you can get an idea of just how small he was.

Growing up as a child I always loved to look at the Guinness Book for World Records. It was one of the most fascinating books I had ever seen. I’m glad my elementary school kept it available for check-outs. I know me and a lot of other students at my school would check out that book a lot. Even as an adult now, that book still fascinates me. When I go on vacation, one of my favorite tourist attractions to see is the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museums. You can find these in a lot of different areas around the country. The last Ripley’s Museum I visited was in St. Augustine, Florida. I remember they had former President John F. Kennedy’s hair on display and a piece of Elvis Presley’s curtains were cut from the Graceland Mansion in Nashville and donated to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Saint Augustine, Florida; which is about an hour’s drive north from Daytona Beach, Florida.

Have you ever visited one of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museums? To me, it’s well worth the cost and it’s really not that expensive to do. I believe it’s around 10 dollars for a visit and you can take your time and stay inside the museum for as long as you like. I also visited the Ripley’s Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It’s been so long since I was there, I really can’t remember much about it. I’m glad that we have things today that can show us people like the shortest living man He Pingping and other extremes in our society.

  • Well I’m sure by now you have heard about the car story in California. It doesn’t involve a dodge challenger running from the law or a driver going down the wrong side of the interstate in a mitsubishi eclipse. This is actually the story about the Toyota Prius; where a driver called 9-1-1 and said the throttle (gas pedal) was stuck. He was doing 90 mph on California’s I-8 Interstate and could not get the car to stop. The 9-1-1 operator tried to tell the man to turn off the ignition and told him this several times. It appeared the man was so scared and was in panic mode, that he couldn’t follow the simple instructions.

If I recall correctly, I believe the whole incident lasted for about 23 minutes. You can find the man’s name at any of the news websites. Since we don’t know if he is a victim or a criminal, I will withhold publishing his name on my blog. The man is claiming he went to pass a car just outside of San Diego, California on I-8 and from that point on, the car would never slow back down. He tried hitting the brakes, but this move only caused the Toyota Prius to speed up (according to the Prius driver’s story). Since Toyota is currently having troubles with their accelerators hanging up and this man in California was driving a Toyota and not a chevy malibu, it is logical to think this story really could have happened.

Luckily everything came to a happy ending, as the police troopers were able to get in front of the Toyota Prius and slow it down, until it eventually came to a resting stop. The California driver was not hurt and the high speeds that lasted for over 20 minutes, didn’t harm any other drivers that were on I-8 last week. The police are asking questions and there is an active investigation going on. A few eyebrows are being raised from different law enforcement agencies and even the federal government is conducting their own investigation. I know I’m not in any hurries to go out and buy a Toyota right now. I think other car buyers would feel safer with a honda insight or any other car brand; as long as it’s not a Toyota.

Do you think the California man is telling the truth? My gut instinct is telling me; he made the whole story up. I’m not totally convinced, since Toyota is having all those recalls on different Toyota brands; which have a gas pedal that does get stuck. There is a little room for doubt on my beliefs. I just figured the guy was about to get a speeding ticket or passed a cop doing 90+ mph, so he came up with the whole story on the fly. He may have even preplanned this event and just told his self that if a cop ever tries to pull me over for speeding, I will tell them the gas pedal got stuck. Since the man was driving a Toyota.

  • Free Hotdogs or Free Tacos?

If you were walking down the street and saw two vendors offering free food; what would you do? You don’t let free stuff pass you by do you? I always grab anything that is free. Even if I had just ate, I would still take it, in case I got hungry later or perhaps I could take a few bites. What if the vendors had different food items they were giving away for free. One vendor was giving free hot dogs away and he had all the catsup, mustard, relish, onions, pickles, sauerkraut, and anything else you like on your hot dogs available. While the other vendor was giving away free tacos. This vendor would give you the shell and meat and then you could decide if you wanted lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese, or sour cream on your taco. A nice variety of mild, medium, hot, and extra hot sauces were available too, for the guy that was giving away free tacos.

Now which vendor’s food sounds the best? Which food item would be the easiest to prepare and eat while walking down the street? No matter how you like your hotdogs or tacos, both vendors would have everything there, so you could make it the way you like best. Let me know if you would choose the free tacos or free hot dogs.

  • Kids Playing Golf Two Ways

    Disc Golfing

Believe it or not, the kids you see in this picture are golfing. You’re probably asking where the pretty green grass is and where are their golf clubs? Well this isn’t the same golf as legend Bobby Jones played back in his day. None of the old timers got to try their skill with disc golfing. The men and women that make up the professional golfing circuits of today could try this new type of golf, but I have never seen or heard about one of them trying it. Adults can play disc golf and it’s not just a game for the children to play.

The hard part is finding a disc golf course in your local area. Many of these disc courses are popping up in parks and it’s usually free to play this type of golf. If you’re lucky enough to find a disc course in your area. Instead of a hole like typical golfers use, these players use a chain-like net as their target. No golf clubs, golf balls, or golf bags is needed for disc golf. You simply need a Frisbee or disc and you’re all ready to go!

Just like in real golf, you start a long ways from your target. You have to throw the disc as hard as you can, then where ever it lands, you will make your 2nd throw from there. You keep going until you manage to get your disc caught in the chain netting. Keep score the same way as you would in standard golf. The good news for disc golfers, is that you rarely lose your disc, so usually one disc is all you need to play a round of disc golf.

Disc golf is a great sport for kids and all parents should try to find a course, so they could take their little ones to play. Don’t forget about the other golf and kids like to play it too. A putt putt course is a nice way to introduce your kids to golf, but some parents are letting their kids play on the big golf courses. I think this is great and the golf supplies are cheaper for kids than it is for us adults.

I found a great set of golf clubs online to get you started. These golf clubs for kids are on sale and it includes everything you need to get started. This set is made by Cleveland and it’s for kids that are 7 to 10 years old (right-handed set) and it includes a driver/wood for the fairways, a hybrid club, an iron, putter, and even has a sand wedge included! The kids will be able to take off and put on the head covers that come for the hybrid and driver clubs. It also has a matching golf bag that will come with this Cleveland golf set for kids.

Once you buy this golf package, all you need is a few tees and golf balls to go play an actual game of golf. I know golf clubs and equipment is not cheap. Many golfers will have one club or special driver in their golf bag that costs $200 or more for just that one club. You can buy this junior set of golf clubs; which has everything for the kids and it’s cheaper than just one of the adult clubs would cost. I would like to buy a set of these for my twin nephews and get them playing golf real early. Try to find some extra time this summer and take your kids to play golf with you. I’m sure they can return the favor and take you out to play a good game of disc golf. Just make a day out of it and do both!

  • Georgia Tech College located in Atlanta, Georgia currently has a contest underway. There is a lot of money at stake and perhaps a prize that’s worth more than the actual cash prizes of $15,000 and $10,000. This contest is for a patent and it’s for a person or persons that come up with the best invention. A lady living in Canton, Georgia is not going in solo and she does have a great team surrounding her. They will be hoping to get 15k for first prize and the 2nd prize of 10k isn’t too bad either.

What this team may want more than anything, is that patent from Georgia Tech on their new invention. It’s estimated to be worth about 20 grand, but a patent these days on a new invention, could mean a lot of money down the line. Especially if a company like Wal Mart, K Mart, or Target decide to carry your product in their stores. The royalties could really add up and these people could become millionaires.

First thing’s first though, they first must need to win this patent contest that Georgia Tech is hosting and this will take place on March 17th or this Wednesday. People living in Canton can cheer on their resident and her team on their new invention as this contest will be shown live on TV. You can watch it on PBS or Public Broadcasting Station and this will come on at 7 p.m. est.

So what did Nicole Miller from Canton and her team invent? They’re calling it the “Koozie Cooler” and this is a product designed to help our soft drinks and other beverages stay colder. Let the record show now, that my blog is the first ever to mention the Koozie Cooler and I fully support this new invention as being a new trademark for Canton, Georgia. First we have to win the contest, so everyone living in Canton and in Cherokee County, needs to tune in to PBS on March 17th at 7 in the evening, so we can root for Nicole Miller and her new invention. Good luck to you guys and I have a good feeling about this Koozie Cooler!

    ***PLEASE VOTE***

A $5,000 People’s Choice award provided by the Georgia Tech Research Corporation will also be presented. The audience and television viewers will have an opportunity to select the winner of this award by voting online or texting. This means the residents in Canton can make a difference! Maybe not with the actual patent contest, but we could show our support by voting on the Net or with our cell phones. Remember, it’s the Koozie Cooler we are voting for!!!

  • Cell Phones: Can You Hear Me Now?

While most of us have seen many improvements in the cell phone technology, it seems some things are not changing as fast as other things. The reception for most cell phone companies still seem to be a big issue. I think a few has made improvements, but we are still not up to speed in that area. A cell phone signal booster is what some customers have had to use, so they could get their service working properly. I think most of these people live in remote areas or in an area that is not close to a cell phone tower. If you live in an area now and getting a good signal continues to be a problem. I wouldn’t wait for the phone companies to build new towers anytime soon. It would be a lot faster to just go ahead and get a signal booster and see if that will help any. So for now, I think a lot of cell phone users will still be saying “can you hear me now?”.
