1 Inner Tube + 1 Lazy River + You = One Great Day!

I can’t think of a better way to spend a long summer day; than to go grab a couple of inner tubes and a couple of friends and float the river. Hopefully you have access to a river in your part of the world for taking a slow ride down the roadways Mother Nature created for us. For the most part this is a safe event for adults that know how to swim. If there is strong currents or rapids around, the odds go up tremendously for an accident to occur. There are some that like white water adventures and will prefer the faster moving rivers. For those that just want to get outdoors and relax, you just need one good lazy river to help.

Now when you float a river, you will need a vehicle or someone that is going to meet you at your destination spot. We usually cover several miles of water on our floats and a 5 mile float down the river, could be a 20 mile drive by car. It really depends on the bends in the river; which will determine your north to south distances. Since most rivers do start in the north and flow in a southerly direction.

You can’t bring much on your tube, but I have seen those that have tried. I have seen radios, big coolers, fishing rods with tackle box, oars, and other items that tubers try to carry with them on these floats. In most cases, these items do make their way into the water or get lost. Leave the radio and grill at home or at your campsite. Focus on the things you must have. Things like dry cigarettes and drinks for quenching your thirst. No need to bring food (unless your diabetic maybe). For those that live in my state of Georgia and plan to float the Chattahoochee River, Etowah River, Conasauga River, Ellijay River, Little River, Oconee River, Flint River, Yellow River, or any of the other list of Georgia Rivers; just go to the Waffle House and fill-up on a big breakfast before you go. If you don’t have a Waffle House in your area, go to Denny’s, IHOP, Huddle House, or any other place like that; where you can get a lot of food for a good price. You will be hungry and starving after spending 5 or 6 hours floating down the river. This is actually one of the fun things to look forward to as you make that slow journey to your destination point. Drinks are a must on these river trips! I believe all of our trips end with a big thirst, so bring as many drinks as possible and you will still probably run out. Leave your coolers behind and try to find a little fishing line to tie to the drinks and your inner tube and you can slip them in the water to keep cool.

Etowah River in North GA

For those in North Georgia and know where the Etowah River is, will be familiar with where I go to float the river. A good place to put in at is in Ball Ground on East Cherokee Drive. The Etowah River crosses under this road and is right beside the Gold Kist plant that’s located on East Cherokee. Some people refer to the Gold Kist facility as the “gut plant” or “rendering plant“. If you come from Highway 5 and turn in by the old Tyson Feed Mill in Ball Ground, you will go about 2 miles and you can turn down on your left side, before you go over the bridge, to have easy access to the Etowah River. If you go over the bridge (going toward Macedonia), you can make your next left and this will be where the Gold Kist plant is and turn around there. Go back across the bridge and now you can enter on the right side to get down to the waters of the Etowah River in Ball Ground, Georgia. This is also the area known as Gober Beach to the locals living around these parts. I can assure you, this isn’t like any beach you have been on before and the name “Gober Beach” is more of a joke and I think started with a local radio personality from WCHK radio station in Canton. Right across the river is where the gut plant is and they turn the bad parts of chickens into a high protein or very nutritional formula that gets added to various animal feeds. For whatever reasons, this process causes a strong odor and is not pleasant to smell. Often the smell from the Gold Kist chicken plant can be smelled from miles away. Luckily we don’t have to stay here long, we just enter the Etowah River here and will float back to Canton. We usually end our trip or get out of the river at the Harmon Field Ball Park, the Fairgrounds, or Boiling Park in Canton.

There are other ways to float the river. A boat or canoe are the two most common ways people will navigate down a stretch of river. I like the canoe best for speed, due to its slender design, and it can hold supplies for your trip. It’s easy to bring a cooler and the fishing rods along; when you have a canoe or boat. I would still leave the radio behind, so you can enjoy the sounds of nature. Floating down the river is a way to escape the noises and sounds of everyday life. Plus you never know when you might have an accident; that could turn your floating vessel over and you can say good bye to the radio if this happens. Keep it simple on the river and do try to find one that doesn’t have a lot of strong currents. The Etowah River in North Georgia I can highly recommend for floating. At least for the parts of the Etowah River that flow through Cherokee County. Some of the more northern parts of the Etowah do contain some rapids, that are a little more ferocious; than the ones you will face in Ball Ground, Macedonia, Buffington, Keithsburgh, Riverstone, and around Canton.

Overall safety is the key and main point for having a good time. Be sure you have a general knowledge of the rivers you choose to float. It’s impossible for anyone to know every foot of the river they’re about to go down, without first going down it. Checking out multiple down stream areas that are near roads or bridges is one way to prepare. You can try to ask a few people too and see if you can pick up anything important. The only bad things you and your buddies should be experiencing is the hunger and thirst problems at the end of your trip. Not uncommon to have a problem later that night, with a sunburn that you just had to take home with you. A little waterproof sunscreen applied to the skin first, will be like finding river gold on your travels down the long and winding river.

Where Do I Get an Inner Tube?

Check around your local area at the places that service cars and trucks. A place that works on the larger vehicles is the best route to take, if you want an inner tube with a little size to it. Most gas stations that sell tires and have an auto mechanic on duty, will hook you up with a real inner tube and fill it full of air for free or a minimal cost. The rounded floats you buy in stores is not really good or suited for floating down the river. These store-bought floats are usually made with a thin lining of plastic. You want a rubber made float; which is a little tougher to puncture. Completing your journey by walking or swimming is no fun. Get a real inner tube for maximum protection. If you have several people going with you, just take along an extra inner tube for carrying supplies. Each person can take turns towing the supply tube and shouldn’t be that much trouble, if this responsibility gets divided equally with 4 or 5 floaters. This extra tube allows for more goodies to be brought and will be a blessing to the first person that puts a hole in their inner tube.

I would be careful about spending a lot of money on inner tubes. I have known places to give these away for free, so a tire business charging $20 or more would be highway robbery. Prepare to spend 5 bucks for one and if you don’t have a lot of choices, you may have to spend $10; to get your fun tube out of the shop and onto the river’s road. These tubes are normally thrown away or took off to a recycling plant for rubber. Your cost should be for the patch it takes to plug the hole (if there is one). One that is not damaged and only needs air, should be given way for free by these filling stations.

As spring time kicks in gear and begins putting green on our trees again, it’s also time to break the ground for those vegetable gardens. I try to grow a few things each year, so I get the opportunity to eat some of those vegetables fresh. There are just some things you can’t buy at the store that has that homegrown taste. My spring time meal made to perfection, would have to be ate in late spring or at the start of summer. The reason why is very simple. I have to grow those tomatoes and green beans first! If I get my fresh green beans and a slice of tomato fresh from the garden, I got the main ingredients of my favorite spring time meal. Adding a few cucumbers and an ear of corn to my plate from the garden would be nice, but I could live with eating store bought ears of corn and cucumbers. From this point there is a lot of directions I could go, but if I could eat my favorite spring time meal right now. I believe my cravings today would call for the following items of food:

Green Beans (homegrown)

Corn on the Cob

Cornbread

Slices of Onions & Tomatoes (fresh from garden)

Sweet Tea w/Lemon

That would be a great spring time meal and I wish I had these items now. I would fill up on these good foods and probably wouldn’t have room for desserts. However, I guess we could add banana pudding (w/vanilla wafers) as the final topping on my favorite spring time meal. Now it’s your turn to create a perfect spring time meal. I have a friend that takes a gambling trip each year. What started out as a 3 state drive from our home in Georgia to the casinos in Biloxi, Mississippi. One of the more common technologies for TV is the 3D abilities. The 3-D movie industry dates way back and it probably goes back at least 60 years. Over the last 5 or 6 decades, different people and companies have played around with it, but no one ever figured out a way to make it mainstream. That’s all changed now and our television sets are about to get a new 3D upgrade. Maybe at first, you will have a choice for 3D TV or not. Just like when high definition came out. However, as time went by, it got tougher and tougher to find a television; which did not have the HD capabilities. We may see the new 3D televisions mock that same pattern. No one is ever forced by the television industry to buy a new TV. They just tell you the one you own now isn’t going to work in the near future. This was the case, when we saw our analog signal televisions turn into a digital signal TV set. Not sure who is responsible or keeping the TV folks in-line, but they have been allowed to make some bold moves with the way they forced everyone to pay for watching a television.

Is it really possible or true that our future filming industry will need TV’s that have 3D capabilities, so we can watch TV? I know a lot of people that have invested big money into a modern HDTV and if they learn it will be junk in 5 years, I think they will be a little upset. One more change in TV that forces people to get a brand new TV; will probably hurt the companies producing the large screen television sets. If you’re in the market for a new TV now, I don’t think the 50 incher is a good idea. You may want to try 30 to 32 inches and see what changes in TV will be a choice for us and which changes will be forced on every TV viewer in the country. The exciting TV technology that use to excite all of us, has been replaced by fears. I do wonder how much more powerful the TV industry can get and is there anyone who could stop them?

Insurance is hard to talk about online, since there are so many differences in companies and each state has their own rules and regulations for insurance companies too. A lot of these different fields that we commonly seek insurance for; like life insurance, auto insurance, or an insurance policy on your home; are trying to make it more uniformed over border lines. Money, Money, Money…..

How do you make it and where do you find it? It seems like a daily chore for me when it comes to me and money. I spend a lot of time each day thinking about money and it’s probably due to the fact that I don’t have much of it. Now if we flipped the situation over 180 degrees and took a glimpse inside the head of the World’s Richest Man Bill Gates the founder of Microsoft, I wonder how many times a day he thinks about money? BTW…if you’re reading my blog post Mr. Gates, please leave a reply and say hello, I am a big fan of yours and also let me and my blog readers know about how many times a day you think about money.

If we went to the Mall or a Wal Mart parking lot and set up a polling booth and asked shoppers how often they thought of money, each person would probably give an answer between 1 to 100? At least I think it’s safe to assume the majority of people would fall into that 100 times per day range. You also have to keep in mind, we are not always aware of it, when we do think about money. I know that sounds strange, we think about something but we really don’t know we are thinking about it. This goes back to all of those studies that went inside the head of men to see how often they thought about sex each day. Most men would probably guess this number between 1 to 100 too. However, those studies proved things to be a lot different and they concluded that men think about sex on average about 1 time every 7 seconds! If you find that number hard to believe, then your not alone. I’m sure money would be very high too, if it was conducted in the same manner as the sex survey with men was done.

Now going back to me and Bill Gates, I am curious if I would think about money more, since I have to struggle to make ends meet and deciding each month on which bills will get paid on time and which ones I will pay late. My first thoughts about this did have me thinking about money more each day than Awesome Bill from Billionsville. However, just because I think about money so much because it isn’t there, perhaps Bill thinks of it just as much or more than me, because it is there. He likes to dabble around in the Stock Market and he also spends a lot of time and energy with his charity. His charity doesn’t just pin point one issue. Bill and his wife Melinda Gates aggressively look for ways they can help all people and in all situations. It’s great that someone that has the most is generous and willing to give. Warren Buffet is generous too, but he kinda cheated with his generosity. He just wrote Bill Gates a big check and made it out to his charity. Even Buffet recognized the hard work Bill was doing in the various charity arenas, so to make sure some of his money was being put to good use too, Warren gave Bill and Melinda a check for something like $30 billion dollars. Since then, Warren has continued to send money to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and I believe reports have the Buffet Donation up to $42 or $43 billion dollars. Some of these donations are in the form of stock shares from the Berkshire Hathaway Company that Buffet built into a Wall Street Empire.

Now for those of us that are poor, we do have money worries that rich people never or very rarely have. Or I should say they are miles apart in terms of worrying about them. A rich person might worry about spending money for something like a new pool to be installed in the backyard. They could certainly worry about money like that and if the new pool might hurt their credit, if they fail to make payments on it. Someone that is poor will worry about the basics so many out there take for granted each day. We all need food, clothing, and shelter to survive in this world. Our worries revolve around things like that. 

When poor folks miss a payment on something and someone calls us up with threats. You know the people that will threaten your credit score, if they don’t get their money. I believe I can stand up and speak for all poor people; when I say that a bill collector threatening our credit score and warning us of the marks our credit history will show, is actually good news and makes us worry less. Poor people worry about going to jail; if they don’t pay a debt that is owed. A threat to our credit score, that most of us don’t know or will never attempt to use, is something we can live with. You can have all the points you want from our credit scores, just don’t haul us off to the big house!

Please don’t say middle class either, because there is currently 88% of all Americans believe they fall in the middle class level. I believe there is 7% claim to be poor and at the poverty level; while 5% of America claims to be upper class. Anyone that has a few basic math skills would know that America has 33 percent lower class, 33 percent middle class, and 33 percent upper class with 1 percent of the people still not decided yet.

Politicians love the fact that people believe they’re in that middle class range. That’s why they can focus their speeches on the middle class of America, because 88 percent of us believe that we are in that range and anything that will help middle class Americans out, we will vote for. So now the next time you hear a political speech that refers to middle class Americans, you will know the person saying it, is sitting on the fence and afraid to commit one way or the other. Or they just want 88% of the people to support a certain issue.

Where is a guy or gal to go, if they want to get in the best physical shape possible? You can’t overlook the fitness gyms and recreational centers in your local hometowns; which offer a lot of exercising equipment. A lot of this equipment is up-to-date in most cases and the total cost would be more than any average family could afford. Not likely to find the equipment in the backyard, basement, or even in the neighbor’s driveway that is going to match up with the high-dollar equipment your average gym is equipped with. So does this mean the fitness gym is a winner already? Well it really depends on the goals you have for yourself to get in shape and how much money you’re willing to spend to get there. If you’re one of the rare people looking to get in shape at a level of a professional athlete playing sports or just below that mark; then I believe a nice modern fitness center is the answer. You will need to spend some money to achieve your fitness goals. It would take a Rocky Balboa like effort to get there without the use of fancy gym equipment.

Most of us don’t seek to get in that good of shape. We do need to strive for that level, so we do accomplish our mid-range goals. If we start out trying to get to the mid-range level, more than likely we will fall short of that modest goal. So always strive to go further and then when you fall a little short, you will actually be where you wanted to get to in the first place. Labradoodle Dog

This combination of dog breeding would give us a new breed of dog and people do refer to this dog as a Labradoodle dog.

Now you can take a good look at the picture above and see what this Labradoodle looks like. Don’t expect to find a lot of other Labradoodles matching these same features. Another Labradoodle can have a shorter or longer hair-coat, be a different color, and even the size seems to have a pretty wide variation; when you consider there isn’t a lot height on these unique breeds of dogs to begin with.

I’m not sure how much control these dog breeders have; when it comes to determining how the finish product will look, after its been born. A dog owner that prefers the Poodle’s features and characteristics can take a second generation Labradoodle and breed it with a Poodle, so it would create a litter of puppies that would be 75% Poodle and only 25% Labrador Retriever. In fact, the f1b labradoodle definition is a 2nd generation Labradoodle dog that has a 3/4 amount of Poodle bloodline, so dog owners and Poodle lovers can have a better chance of retaining that coat that can only come from the characteristics of a Poodle. The F1B Labradoodle will have Labrador Retriever bloodlines for the remaining 1/4 of the dog’s make-up.

Now the breeding doesn’t stop at this level and this is only the beginning for these breeders that are pairing Labs and Poodles together. The whole process gets a lot more complicated as you advance down the evolutionary scale. You can get into the F2 Labroodles which some dog owners will probably claim that’s the perfect mix of Poodle and Labrador Retriever. For each one of them, you can probably find as many F3 Labradoodle owners that will claim superiority for their unique breed of dog. This breed mixing puzzle could really go on forever and never have the same 2 bloodlines appear again.  

Not all of the breeding is done with coat, color, and height in mind. People who have allergies or just seem to be allergic to a lot of different things, could probably own an labradoodle hypoallergenic as a pet. This is one of the positive things I see from these breeding experiments. A pet dog that wouldn’t upset someone that was real sensitive to germs and allergies. I’m not sure if I am ready to go out and pick up a version of this Poodle/Lab mix. I have always thought Labrador Retrievers were the smartest dogs out there. I would love to own a pure Lab puppy, but I don’t think I would want any Poodle bloodlines in my pup.

Do you know who Marvin Williams is? The basketball player from the NC Tar Heels and now with the Atlanta Hawks? He played his high school ball around the Seattle, Washington area, so figured he was pretty popular in the American Northwest too. Well, he was doing an interview recently and it was one of those 30 minute interviews; where you get to know more info than needed. He talked about basketball and how the sport of basketball has took him to all the 4 corners on Earth and all of the great places, opportunities, and people he has met, due to basketball and it’s just basketball that brought him all of this wonderful stuff. He was very appreciate of these things and he gave all the credit to basketball. Not his hard work, natural talent, 6 foot 8 inch height, or these other things athletes tend to give credit for or they will praise a coach or parent for their success. Not Marvin, he pretty much gave basketball all the credit. I liked his answer because it was unique. I didn’t agree with him, because I think he owes some of the thanks to the things he did, like keep good grades and all the school work, the physical effort he gave in the gym, and things like that. He’s also been blessed due to the things he didn’t do, like hang out with the wrong crowds, drinking & driving, drugs, and other bad decisions he could have easily made.

I now know what Marvin means about basketball and it is the sport that deserves all the credit. No matter where he is at or what he might be doing, more than likely you can point to basketball for him anytime. I haven’t been as successful as Marvin in basketball, but have got to taste success with my blogs. I owe so much to my blogs and they have taken me to places I would have never got to without them. I believe I have what it takes to take the next steps up and move my blogs into a higher class of blogs. I have been above average for a couple of years now. I believe I am slowly forming a traffic empire online. My empire will be able to turn programs into goldmines and build huge downlines for any new programs I decide to join and promote all out. No matter how big my empire gets online or how much money I make, it will still fall back to my blogs and they’re the thing that separates me from most of the other online marketers today.

I think it’s amazing that I am about a dozen years older than Marvin Williams from the NBA, but was able to learn something from this young feller. He may not even realize what he knows or how valuable his way of looking at things really is. He was just speaking honestly and it came out in a natural conversation. I just didn’t know how to apply his respect for basketball into my world of online marketing. I think I can see the road map now and won’t truly know until I get there. What basketball means to Atlanta’s Marvin Williams is what my blogs mean to me. That might not sound like much, but it’s sometimes the small things that make the biggest differences and I can see how this is one of those times.

This is only a starting point and guidelines for someone that can’t find any prevention or asbestos facts online. Any information that you do find and discover online. Please try to verify the information from a 2nd source or website. We are all going to have to learn this stuff together as we go forward and wait for better prevention and removal efforts to develop. The best advice I can give my readers, is to check out the forum over at: http://www.asbestosregisters.co.uk/ and ask your asbestos questions there. They have a guy that will answer your questions. If he can’t answer your specific question right away, he will go in search for the correct answers. His knowledge and expertise in this very frightening field, will give homeowners and workers more knowledge, so they can avoid any long term exposures that could result in death. 

Now, going back to the title of my blog post: “How Do I Know If Its Asbestos?”. You don’t! Stay away from any material or building structures that you see as something that could contain asbestos. The good news is that being exposed to asbestos doesn’t result in mesothelioma. It’s being exposed to these tiny fibers that are breaking down, that will cause the health problems. No way for us concerned citizens to know which asbestos are safe and which asbestos are harmful. Just keep away and stay as far from this material as possible. After being cramped up inside all winter long, we now can get out and enjoy the fresh air. The warmer weather makes it easy to lose that extra weight. Renae the Waitress

For those that are lucky enough to have RFD-TV on their satellite or cable channels; probably know who Renae the Waitress is and where she works. If you don’t have this station, you probably have no clue to who Renae is or the show she plays a part in. She is the waitress on Larry’s Country Diner that comes on each Thursday and the show re-airs on Saturday night. It’s a great show for Southern America and I don’t mean South America, but “Southern America“. The people that live in the South, listen to country music, and probably went to a church that had a preacher who would foam at the mouth from preaching so hard, would be the perfect candidates for watching Larrys Country Diner.

I wanted to do a special blog post about Renae the Waitress and I have a good reason why. Before I tell you that, let me just let you know how Renae fits into the show. I first thought she was Larry’s wife in the first couple of episodes I seen. The way these two would pick at each other, it seemed like a logical fit. However, what other relationships do we have in life, where picking on each other is a daily chore? If you have a brother or sister; then you probably know where I am going with this. I’m not 100% positive on this and did try to research it online with no luck, but I believe Larry is Renae’s brother. They grew up in Alabama (or at least Larry did) and their childhood home near the Mobile, Alabama area is probably like most other places in the South. You can identify with them on their thoughts and the sense of humour both of them carry around on the show. You may not see it, if you just watch one episode, but watch Larry’s Country Diner a few times and you will see what I mean.

Larry, Renae, & the Other Waitress

Most Larry’s Country Diner episodes start in the same format. Larry will gather up some visual and audio resources to help shine light on a specific year. He will mention songs that came out that year, what a house cost, the price for a gallon of gas, inventions, and things like that, for just 1 historical year in the 1900′s. After he completes this starting segment, he is suppose to read the “Promise“, but usually will forget to read it. This is where we get to see Renae step in and remind Larry to read the Promise. Their promise is a quote from the Bible and you may know this better by another name like daily devotion, daily thought, words of wisdom, or something similar to that. Larry’s family back in Alabama did this each day and Larry has kept this family tradition alive, by reading a promise at the beginning of each of his TV shows.

So why the special blog post for Renae the Waitress?

This blog post was created, because the same way Renae steps in to remind Larry about the Promise, she stopped in to help answer some questions here (Creating a Simple Life Blog); which I have asked and some of the questions my readers have asked too. I was very thrilled and honored, to have Renae the Waitress, take time out to read my blog posts and leave 2 great replies that are full of information. She gave out some information about the tapings and how they work for people that would like to attend a live recording of Larry’s Country Diner. I had one reader (Jim) that pointed out the squeaky door behind the bar and she mentions it in her reply. I am the one she calls “Blogger Chris“ and this proves she did read my posts. At the bottom of my first blog post, I was addressing Larry directly. I told Larry to just mention Blogger Chris on an episode and I would do a lot more blogging for him. Now that I understand how the tapings work, I realize this request isn’t something that can happen quickly. Maybe he can do a shout out in season 3, but that might not be as good as the invitation Renae gave me in one of her replies. I certainly want to learn more about how the shows get made and hopefully attend a taping in one of the future seasons.

Now Renae, you know us Americans are spoiled and no matter what we get, we always want more and more. I would really like to make that drive from my North Georgia Home to see you guys in Tennessee. As much as I would like that, there is something I would love 10 times better and that would be to attend a specific taping with a specific guest star. I know, I know, I am probably pushing my luck and I admit I am taking advantage of your generosity, but I do have a charitable act behind my greed. I had a close friend that died in his sleep from a heart condition that was unknown and his death was very unexpected back in 2002. He was a few years older than me and he was 34 years old at the time of his passing. Seems strange now that I am 3 years older than the age he was at; when he took his last breath on Earth.

What I would really, really love is to take his mama with me and I have a feeling my mama would want to make this trip too, and see a certain performer. From all of the shows I have seen and reading up on the guests from season 1 and scheduled to appear in season 2, you have yet to have this country performer on. Considering some of the things I have seen and heard, I believe it’s only a matter of time, for this person to make his way to Larry’s Country Diner. How possible or what chances do I have of going for a 1 day trip and seeing a specific performer?

You may can put 2 and 2 together and know the performer I would like to see. My mama has also blurted out another country music performer she would like to see. I guess the more names we give, the better our chances get? I’m not sure we could stay in town more than 1 day; due to my friend’s mom needing oxygen several times a day and the work schedule my mama has for her job at our local funeral home. Blogger Chris can easily make plans and time for a trip, any time and any length. So please let me know how many people I could bring with me or is the invitation for just 1 person? Oh yeah, I never did tell you who I wanted to come see as the special guest on Larry’s Country Diner. The country music performer I would most like to see is CLICK HERE and this will reveal my choice and also the person my dear old mother would like to see at the Diner too.

I remember Renae cracking a joke one time, about the Nadine bumper stickers causing a traffic jam, because everyone was honking that loved Nadine.
