The National Football Leagueis known for its big, strong, and very fast players on the field. In some cases, it seems some players have just gotten too big and strong, even for the NFL standards. The biggest concerns came in Week 6 where we saw a major collision in Philadelphia and also saw the Steelers James Harrison deliver two massive blows in the same game. Is this hit legal or illegal?

Under the new NFL rules, this hit would have landed Robinson for the Atlanta Falcons a 2 game suspension, a hefty fine in the range of $50,000 to $250,000, would be ejected for the remainder of this game, and would cost his team 15 yards on the field. Once Duanta Robinson returns from his 2 game suspension, he would also be on probation for pretty much the rest of his NFL career. Any 2nd hit on the field with this magnitude, would pretty much be an automatic doubling of the suspension in games and his fine would double too; which could be in the neighborhood of $200,000 to half a million bucks. Not sure about the 3 strike policy in the NFL, but it would be possible for a player to be banned for a 3rd vicious hit, if they were suspended and fined for the previous 2.

Players probably won’t make any big adjustments to their tackling and hits they deliver on Sunday afternoons in the NFL. The changes will come, once these players get in trouble for the first offense. After we get a couple of dozen players suspended and fined with these new rules in place; then we will start to see some mistackles and safer hit attempts and the offensive players will ultimately be the winners in these new NFL rules.

The game of football is tough. There are a number of things that can happen on any given Sunday, where a player can play his last play of the seaon, or get injured in a way they never play football again. It is a risk they are all accepting; when they walk on that football field. It may not be common, but we do expect a handful of players every year to walk into a stadium and leave that stadium on a stretcher, where they never get the opportunity to walk back in a team huddle, due to a career-ending injury.

The National Basketball Association has flexible rules and punishments; which get enforced during a game and when a player gets injured. It’s really not about the intent or how vicious a certain act might be, but it really depends on the recipient of the malicious act and how well he is able to cope and recover from an illegal tactic.

NFL: No Harm No Foul Perspective

Let’s go back to the video; which showed Ray Lewis of the Ravens delivering a blow to the upper body; which was every bit as bad as the ones Duanta Robinson and James Harrison delivered in Week 6. Not only did Ray Anderson say this was a clean and legal hit, but amazingly Rich McKay echoed the same sentiments too. So what we have is the NBA rule; where if a player gets injured as a result of a high-speed contact play; then you’re in trouble. A coach like Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots, who uses every rule and modern tech gadget to his advantage, will be asking his players to lay down after a collision with the other team’s star defensive players. This rule will help to remove key players off the defensive side of the ball; while the offensive players carry out their best acting skills, as an injured football player starring in a Hollywood movie. Is it possible, these new rules meant to help the offensive players, will be helping them in more ways than one? Absolutely! Only reason the Ray Lewis hit was viewed as a clean hit, was due to the fact of the player raising up and clapping his hands together, like he should have made the catch. Now that player will be able to roll around on the field, like they’re in pain and good-bye to Ray Lewis for the remainder of that game and probably 2 additional games.

Just imagine these divisional games, where you have a tight race and two divisional teams play each other in a 3 week span. These teams can create huge advantages, by getting a defensive player suspended for 2 games. The NFL choosing to adopt the NBA rule, may be followed up by the NFL adopting the NHL rule for flopping; where skaters on the ice get penalized for trying to copy a Hollywood actor.

What should the NFL have done? Nothing this dramatic, that’s for sure. They have the power to hand-down fines and suspensions, without having a rule in place to do it. For years and years now, they have created punishments on the fly for different players and teams, where action becomes warranted. By stepping up and agreeing with the media attention, for these latest big hits around the country in professional football and the horrible incident that occurred to a 6 foot 2 inch, 275 pound, college football player from Rutgers; who is currently paralyzied from a special teams collision, the scrutiny will be present on every wide receiver that gets knocked down.  

As for the hit in Philadelphia, where Daunta Robinson knocked wide receiver DeSean Jackson out of the game. This was the first time ever, where I heard the term “defenseless receiver” where the receiver had caught the ball. Normally the guys in the booth who call pro and college football games, they refer to “defenseless players” and a guy who doesn’t make a catch, as the same thing and this just isn’t true. For some reason, when a receiver catches a ball, they are no longer defensless, like the football has some magical powers and can protect the player from the defender.

The biggest problem with these new rules, is the fact they’re not rules at all. They are just a few words on paper and football films, for telling NFL players if you hurt another football player and do it in a surprising fashion, then you’re going to get suspended and fined. The Chicago Bears player who turned his back into the punter and knocked him out, was not a clean play; nor was it a sportsman-like block on another player. The fact the punter was not injured was the key part, but for some reason they will not say this. Let’s face it, the Bears special teams player, could have did a simple two-handed push and would have drove the punter out of the play, as the Bears return man Devin Hester ran the ball for a big play. Instead of providing a simple block, the Bears player turned his back and moved way to forceful into the defenseless punter and that amount of force and action, toward a defenseless punter was way over board. I’m really shocked the NFL showed that play and said the guy was fine, due to the fact he was turning his back to provide the block. The NFL is going to be in a world of debate, if they’re are going to draw lines in the sand for that block, which was clearly a very unsportsman-like play on the field.

I can’t wait for the NFL to address the sideline plays, where a player gets hit out-of-bounds. I have a simple solution for this problem, but the NFL isn’t about nipping problems in the bud. They don’t mind throwing the yellow flag and penalizing a defensive player, who is running full speed to stop a play near the sidelines, where the offensive player is clearly running in a north and south pattern. Any offensive player who tries to skirt the sidelines for extra yards, should be allowed to be hit out of bounds. I’m not saying a hit that comes well after the play is over, but the hits that take place, where the offensive player steps one foot out of bounds, then gets tackled. If an offensive player wants to be protected by the sidelines, they must run in a east and west route, so the defensive player has enough time to see and react. For any ball carrier who chooses to run in the north and south routes, along the sidelines, then a defensive player should be given some lead way, where they might actually make contact, after the player has stepped out of bounds. In order to prevent  any extra yardage gained on the play. With the current rules that are in place now, I am surprised more teams don’t run their guys up and down these sidelines, where they try to step out, right before the contact is made, by a defensive player. It would be a simple way to get 15 yards!

This play resulted in a personal foul on Antonio Pierce for a late hit.

This is a perfect example of what I am talking about. We can all see very clearly that Antonio Pierce hit Michael Vick out-of-bounds on the play. However, under my new NFL rule, this play would have resulted in no penalty flags. We have one of the fastest players in football, who is NOT running in a east and west pattern to get out of bounds. Instead, the very fast Mike Vick is trying to run along the sideline for extra yards and we expect Pierce to run up to him and force him out of bounds, without making contact. This is absurd and needs to be corrected. Due to the fact, the ball carrier is trying to get extra yards, the defensive player should be allowed a wider space for contact, even if it means the ball carrier is out ot bounds and then contact is made. This isn’t a vicious or a unsportsman-like hit. Antonio Pierce is leaving his feet and is launching his self into Vick, but not in a way that would be a surprise to Vick and by no means is he a defensless player. Allowing this type of contact can cause injury, due to the extra players and equipment that is so close to the sidelines. The solution is to allow these type of hits on north and south runners on the sideline and move these players, coaches, and equipment to a safer distance from the sideline. How the NFL expects Antonio Pierce to stop in mid-flight and avoid contact is beyond me. Yes, Vick was clearly going out of bounds, but he was clearly doing it, while gaining extra yards.

The NFL referees who threw the flags on this particular play, did not make a mistake and this is still a 15 yard penalty today. This is not their fault, this blame goes to the NFL Rules Committee, who are more focused on their image in the eyes of the public and the media. No matter how well the rules and referees work out on the field each Sunday afternoon; I can’t see the game as almost-perfect, until the Antonio Pierce/Michael Vick incident gets taken care of properly.

For those with the keen eye for fashion will notice this look a lot right now. See how the school boy has his long sleeve shirt on; while wearing shorts? It seems for a lot of kids and adults too, we will see the long sleeve shirts come out first and it takes the pants a little longer to be put away. This is actually fine and the shirts with sleeves are more important than the length of the pants. Most of our body heat escapes from the top of our head and also from the other parts of the upper body. Less heat is lost from around the area of the legs, so a long sleeve shirt with a pair of shorts is acceptable for the next 2 or 3 weeks. After that, we all should have long everything and our warm jackets too. Our children are tough and can sometimes brave the cold air better than we can, but this doesn’t mean we should let them wear summer clothes during this time of the year.

So be sure to put away the short sleeve shirts this weekend and let the kids know for Monday morning, they will be wearing their winter shirts from now on. The short pants can still be worn, since they’re not located in a place where heat is lost or retained too much. After you go out and places your votes for the first Tuesday in November, it would be a good reminder then; that the shorts need to be put up, until spring rolls around again. I believe the 2010 elections is a perfect time and reminder, for all parents, to start putting their school-age kids in full-winter outfits.  If your kids have any disagreements with you, just show them this blog post and tell them I am a professional clothing outfitter and maybe this will help to convince them. I have long adored anime in general. Among my favorites in this sub-culture is the story of Princess Mononoke. It is based on ancient folktales from the early days of Japan. The animation style is excellent and really captures the imagination. The storyline itself keeps people involved in the plot from beginning to end. I had seen it many times before, but when I saw it getting ready to play as I flipped through my TV channels that I get because of Cannon Satellite online deals I had to stop and watch again. It was better than ever considering I had only seen it on old VHS, whereas this was in digital quality satellite television.

I relieved every moment of the story from the prince being cast out of his village due to being tainted by the enraged demon bore to the inevitable end. I always enjoyed the fact that it ends on a reasonable high note despite all of the aggression from many sides during the story.

This story is at heart a diatribe against greed and violence. It speaks of what happens when people move away from nature and become selfish or greedy. It also shows nature as being violently aggressive but with a purpose. Animals attack humans, humans attack animals. Everything in this story can speak.

Ultimately the story of the former prince and the wolf girl is one of love and trust, even though they will live in two different worlds. A must see for anyone who adores quality animation.

While most people may have the dream to build their own house one day, there is really no reason to. You can save a lot of money right now, by buying a new home that is already built. The recent recession has sent so many homes into foreclosure and back to the banks, that buyers can find a lot of good deals in the housing markets. I would hold off on those blue prints for building a new home. If you can save a lot of money on an existing home, you would be better off to buy a home that is already built.

Once you get your new home, you can work on getting it paid off. After you pay for your new home or almost have it paid for, you can turn around and sell it for a profit. By the time you get close to paying off your new home, the housing industry should be back up to normal then. You would be able to make a nice little profit and then you could begin the construction process on the home you want to build and design yourself. It’s true that a buyer has the upper hand right now. Folks should use this leverage to their advantage and make a huge profit from the new homes that just aren’t selling at the moment. Things will turn around soon, but until they do, the housing market is a big bargain for anyone, who seeks to make a profit.

No need to ask anyone, if the housing industry has regained strength again. All you have to do, is drive through a sub-division and see how many “for sale” signs you see in the front yards. There should be a couple on every street you turn down and that’s your sign the housing industry hasn’t fully recovered yet. Things will be back to normal, once those signs are gone.

The social networking community could not be any more popular than it is right now. One of the top movies in America playing in theaters right now, is a movie called The Social Network. This is a true story movie and it details the people who created, the most popular social networking site online today. This new movie is projected more to the name of Mark Zuckerberg; who is given the most credit for creating the Facebook website. He currently owns almost 85% of the Facebook shares. So we do know as fact, that Zuckerberg is the majority owner of this famous website; which is for all ages.

According to Alexa.com, a website that tracks traffic online for millions and millions of different websites, it currently shows Facebook as the 2nd most popular website in the United States. It is also ranked in 2nd place; while comparing it to websites all over the World. In both cases, only the search engine called Google, was listed higher than Facebook. So as you can see, Facebook is not only the most popular social networking website, but its pretty much the most popular website overall.

I recently found a book on sale that was written for Facebook users. The book is called Facebook for Dummies. Since I recently joined this social networking website, I would like to read this book. See if I could pick up any marketing tips or other vices that might make my Facebook experience more enjoyable. I have figured out how to post links and upload a picture to my profile. This might not sound like much, but I have very limited skills on the computer, so this was a big accomplishment for me. If I can figure out how to navigate at Facebook, then it shouldn’t be too much trouble for others. If it is confusing to you, perhaps this Internet Book called Facebook for Dummies would be something you would want to read too.

If having popular books selling online and a new movie in theaters wasn’t enough attention, Facebook found another way to get in the media headlines. Just this week, there was a security leak at Facebook. For a small time, all Facebook members had their private profile information exposed to advertisers. I never did hear an exact time, but just knew the story was making headlines for most news agencies, earlier in the week. I don’t think Facebook fans have to worry about “John Doe” getting their private details on profile, but the opportunity was present for Facebook advertisers, to get their hands on this private information.

There are even some folks, who believe Facebook does this on purpose, for media attention and to reward the advertisers who do spend money on their site. As of now; the recent security failures at Facebook could result in a few targeted emails being sent your way. Other than that, most Facebook users should not be a target for identity theft or anything serious like that online. When traveling to foreign places, it can sometimes be difficult to know the speed limits. Signs are not always visible or nearby, when you want to know what the speed limit is for a certain stretch of roadway. In most cases, we just try to travel at the same speeds the other cars are, so we don’t get run over or break any speed limit laws.

Most people think the biggest crimes in speeding, are done on the interstate highways. Actually the worse speed tickets can come from work zones or school zones, where the speed limits are very low. Going 50 mph in a 25 mph construction zone doesn’t seem like you’re speeding; while driving at this pace. However, that is double the speed limit and 25 mph too much. In a 70 mph speed limit zone on the Interstate highway, you would have to go 95 mph to match the actual speed of the example above. It would take a driver traveling at 140 mph, to match the percentage of speed. Often a traffic officer or a courtroom judge will factor-in the actual mph above the speed limit and look at the percentage aspect too.

I been driving for over 20 years and have received 3 speeding tickets. My worse speeding ticket came in a construction zone and I still don’t feel like I was speeding. A section of roadway was being worked on in my area and there were a lot of reduce speed and lower speed limit signs posted. The normal speed was 45 mph, but the construction going on, caused the speed limit to be lowered to a 35 mph zone. This road construction was mainly taken place during business hours on a Monday through Friday schedule. I came through this area on a Saturday evening; while there was no work being done on the highway. I was going 61 mph; which would have still been 16 mph over the limit. My traffic ticket seemed a lot worse in court, because of the new lower speed that was put in place (35 mph). So my violation reflected a 26 mph difference. I still believe the speed limit shouldn’t have been enforced, since there was no workers working on the roadway; nor was there any cones or other construction obstacles to look out for.

Like so many others do, I chose to not fight the speeding ticket. I was charged more, since I was speeding in a construction zone and was traveling faster than other speeders in this area. This ticket was back in the 1990′s and now the punishment is more severe to those who speed in construction zones. I don’t know if the new speeding laws include school zones, but I know it is a much more serious offense now. Please learn from my speeding mistakes and even if you don’t see any construction workers in site; the traffic cops can still bust you for speeding in a construction zone.

I love watching the true story pictures that come on television. The crime shows that have a murder or kidnapping case that is unsolved are my favorites. Why Doesn’t McDonalds Sell the McRib All Year Long?

Well according to the McDonalds chain of restaurants, they feel that people get sick of the McRib after a certain length of time. This product only does well; when the company sells it in short spurts and usually for just one time period during the year. I know in my area, it seems to usually come in November and this will be the month, when the famous McRib makes its comeback. It was me and my Mom who pulled up to a drive-thru and before we could place our order, there was a McDonalds employee, who was giving out free samples. These were just small portions of the McRib sandwich, but my Mom and I both liked it very much. Now 29 years later, we will get to sample that great taste again, when our local stores bring back the sandwich on November 2, 2010.

What Comes on the McRib?

It’s a pretty simple combination, but each ingredient is important for the overall taste. I can’t think of any other items that would make the sandwich better and couldn’t imagine ordering it and asking McDonalds to remove an item. It starts out with the pork meat that is only shaped like a slab of ribs, but is really just processed pork scraps. They dip this pork meat in a very tangy barbecue sauce and then will add pickles and onions; while serving it on a oval-shaped bun. Most fans of McDonalds will know that the restaurant offers two types of onions. The dehydrated onions; which can be found on the small hamburgers and cheeseburgers; as well as the famous Big Mac. The other onions are your more traditional cuts of garden onions, like you get with the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. It’s the Quarter Pounder onions that get served on the McRib. I know a lot of people don’t like to eat onions, so this is probaly the number 1 thing that gets removed for customers who like to eat the McRib. I would like to see more onions on the sandwiches I order, but hate asking for extra onions. Sometimes they put a generous portion of onions on the sandwich, but most of the time, there is just a few onions that get placed on the McRibs, by McDonalds employees.

So the McRib is not out officially being served at most locations, but should be on the lunch menu November 2nd. Do you plan to show up at your local McDonalds restaurant on this date, to order your McRib? Is there anyone who has never tasted the McRib, but have been hearing some stories about it and plan to try it for the first time in November? The company does plan to sell the barbecue pork sandwich for about 6 weeks, but I don’t think supplies will last that long. Just plan to do all of your “McRib eating” during the month of November and consider each day, the sandwich is being sold in December, a blessing from Ronald McDonald.
