Simple things are worth blogging about
10 Jan
Our grills at home were made to cook certain foods and it seems like everyone has their own favorites they like to prepare on the grill. I like hamburgers and this is probably my favorite food item to cook on a outdoor grill. I have no complaints when it comes to cooking the sister of the hamburger and I’m sure most people would consider the hotdog a sister to the hamburger. Hot dogs do taste a lot better when they’re cooked on the grill and not boiled in a pot of water on the stove. Hamburgers and hotdogs are probably the two most popular things that get cooked on the grill.
Other foods that people often throw on their bbq grill is chicken, pork chops, and steaks. The chef or cook won’t get too many complaints if they throw a nice steak or some pork chops on the barbie. When it comes to chicken, there is a lot of seasonings and marinades that can greatly influence the taste here. A few boneless chicken strips that have sat over night in a good marinade, can be a fabulous thing to prepare on the grill. You can look online for some good chicken marinade recipes and I highly recommend doing this the day before; you cook your chicken on the grill. A simple marinade for the chicken can make it taste a hundred times better and your family or guests will love the taste. A little salt on the pork chops and that is all that is needed for them. I know some people will choose a variety of seasonings for the steaks. I only add a little salt to my steaks and may dash a little steak sauce on them; 1 or 2 minutes before I remove them off the grill. Steaks taste so good naturally that there isn’t any big need to add anything to them.
There are a couple of things that are left up to debate and each person has their own style. Using tin foil is one of those debates and do you prefer to use the bare rack or put down a little tin foil and poke holes in it? To get a steak good and juicy, some will wrap each steak in tin foil and this helps preserve the juices from dripping away. I’m not picky here either way. Another popular debate is about the types of grills we choose to use. Do you prefer the old fashion method of using charcoal or is a gas grill better? I normally use charcoal and I love the smell of charcoal on the grill. I don’t mind a gas grill, but I usually will just buy a cheap portable grill that uses charcoal to cook my favorite foods on. As you can see, I will cook just about any kind of meat and I believe our grills were designed for cooking meat. I’m not good at cooking vegetables on the grill, but I do like eating grilled vegetables. Feel free to share any grill recipes or foods that you like to throw or prepare on the grill.

The more sites I visit the more I realize that most of them don’t live up to their promise, but this one is different. I love it. Thank you for the Foods Worth Cooking on the Grill posting. Cindy Kerr.
