The Fall weather is just around the corner and up in the Northwest the nights are starting to get a little cooler. I love this time of year when it is nice during the day and then at night it gets cool enough to fire up the fireplace. This year we are looking at fireplaces that will be put down in our basement that we will be finishing. We have found a great resource over at DESA Online where you can actually build your own fireplace. Starting with the type of firebox such as gas, wood, propane. Then you choose the log types, the mantle and then lastly any accessories such as different types of fans and starters. We are seriously looking at a natural gas fireplace with a nice oak mantle to give our downstairs family room a nice touch. What is great is that make self venting fireplaces just for the basement which means that you do not have to create a venting system. So bring on the cold weather and let’s all gather around the fireplace.
