Those nice kitchen spice racks you have at home are probably loaded with a bunch of different spices. Some you use frequently and others you never even touch. You keep them around just in case a new recipe calls for it to be added. I know we have a few spices at my house now that I have never used or even heard of before. My kitchen at home doesn’t have a wall spice rack like most home owners or chefs have around in their kitchen. We have our spices shoved in a normal cabinet above the stove. So when we need to spice something up, we usually have to spend a little time looking for the correct spice.

I think the spice rack here (picture above) is a simple one, but one that could save you a lot of time. Keeping the spice bottles organized properly not only makes the kitchen look better, but it makes finding them a breeze. Imagine having a spice rack like this steel 3 tier spice rack in your kitchen. Then taking your spices and putting them in alphabetical order on the rack. Now you can see just how easy one of these spice racks keeps things simple in the kitchen. My blog is Creating a Simple Lifeand a nifty spice gadget like this accomplishes that.

Now let me name you a few spices we have at my house and you can let me know which ones you have too, ones you like, or ones you would never use or might be allergic to. I’m not sure what my most favorite spice is, but oregano is one I use a lot and tons of recipes call for oregano. I guess everyone uses salt the most. I know most families use salt and black pepper so much, they don’t include these popular spices in their spice racks. Here is our spices at home:

*Oregano

*Red Pepper

*Basil

*Chili Powder

*Onion Powder

*Cumin

*Nutmeg

*Turmeric

*Cinnamon

*All Spice

*Mustard Seed

*Parsley Flakes

*Taco Seasoning

Those are a few spices we have in our spice cabinet above the stove. I wished we had a spice shelf or rack out in the open, so we could arrange them in alphabetical order. You will need your spices for all those new recipes you find online. Free recipes online is another great benefit to having the Internet. My favorite online recipes are chili and I love making homemade chili. I use a variety of spices for my chili recipes. What’s your favorite spices in your kitchen?
