The politics and voting is not quite the same in Iran as it is in the United States, but they do appear to be trying to have a democratic election. The voting is currently taking place in Iran and its hard to say who is winning right now. It seems both parties are claiming victory to the next person that will be the head of Iran. It seems a lot of controversy is already taking place over there and who knows how legitimate the results will be.

The current leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad seems to be in the lead by a big margin and some say that lead is with 80 percent of the votes counted. It doesn’t seem like the present day leader of Iran would be voted in for another term, since so many in Iran are unhappy with his performance. He has not did a good job for Iran and there does need to be a new leader in Iran. Perhaps a new leader would help Iran become a better nation to its neighbors and on better terms with the United States. I would like to travel to Iran someday and it just doesn’t seem like this is too possible with the current situation in Iran right now. It would be nice to open up their society more and people could start visiting Iran more that had desires of seeing this Middle Eastern nation.

I guess we will just have to wait and see how the election goes and which man will be the new leader in Iran. There does need to be a new leader there and let’s hope the votes are counted properly and the people of Iran do get the person that had the majority of votes as their new leader. I’m sure this story is long from being over and we may be hearing about the elections in Iran for months to come.
