Book – Buried Treasures of the Appalachians

How much money did you make the last time you read a book? Has anyone ever paid you to read a book before? Well maybe you aren’t reading the right kinds of books, because I know of some that will pay you to read them. We can start with W.C. Jameson’s book called Buried Treasures of the Appalachians. All you need to do is order this book online, read it from cover to cover, and then go out and find these buried treasures in or around the Appalachian States. What? You don’t believe me? I know, you’re just like all of the other ones and you think all of these stories told by the old timers is legends and old wise tales (not “old wives tales“). The reason these treasures remain buried and hidden, is because no one believes the old legends anymore. The stories keep getting passed generation to generation, but the actual treasure hunting never gets done.

However, you may be right. These may just be old stories and hold no truth. You could still compare this book with the last book you read. If you were going to earn any money from a book you just read; then the chances would be very high, that the buried treasures in those eastern U.S. mountains would be the winner. Am I correct now?  Now you see my point! If any book out there is going to help you find new wealth in your life, then this book is as good as any other book.

I’ve grown up in North Georgia (part of the Appalachians) and have heard about the Indian Legends my whole life. The stories that claim they all came together the night before they were to leave out on the Trail of Tears and how they buried their treasures. They knew the white man would take it away from them, so all their valuables and gold got placed in a very secretive location. Several different Indian tribes did this as a group, but legend has it, that one tribe didn’t agree with the others, so they took it upon their self to hide their own gold and valuable possessions in another location. The Trail of Tears took place in the 1830′s and for about the last 180 years, the people around here are still searching for the Native American treasures.

This book by W.C. Jameson is filled with 40 different stories and a wide-range of treasures each legend contains. Some of the buried treasures that are still lost in the Appalachians is Confederate treasures and caves stacked with golf ingots. I’m sure there would have to be a few legends involving gold too. These stories also include the extra details, like how skeletons are guarding some treasures or how curses will be placed on someone for finding the lost treasure. This is very interesting stuff to me and it should be for you too. Especially if you currently live around some of these Appalachian areas. This book does include maps of the various locations, so you can see how close you are to these treasures now.

He wasn’t that old, but he sure did live a full 21 years in this world. I believe a lot of people will be sad; when they wake up today and see that He Pingping has passed away.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, He Pingping was the shortest man on Earth. I’m not sure who the shortest man now will be or if there is a woman that will hold the new record as the shortest living person. He Pingping was very tiny. He only stood a meager 73 centimeters tall. For most people, a centimeter is about the width of their index finger, so you can get an idea of just how small he was.

Growing up as a child I always loved to look at the Guinness Book for World Records. It was one of the most fascinating books I had ever seen. I’m glad my elementary school kept it available for check-outs. I know me and a lot of other students at my school would check out that book a lot. Even as an adult now, that book still fascinates me. When I go on vacation, one of my favorite tourist attractions to see is the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museums. You can find these in a lot of different areas around the country. The last Ripley’s Museum I visited was in St. Augustine, Florida. I remember they had former President John F. Kennedy’s hair on display and a piece of Elvis Presley’s curtains were cut from the Graceland Mansion in Nashville and donated to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Saint Augustine, Florida; which is about an hour’s drive north from Daytona Beach, Florida.

Have you ever visited one of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museums? To me, it’s well worth the cost and it’s really not that expensive to do. I believe it’s around 10 dollars for a visit and you can take your time and stay inside the museum for as long as you like. I also visited the Ripley’s Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It’s been so long since I was there, I really can’t remember much about it. I’m glad that we have things today that can show us people like the shortest living man He Pingping and other extremes in our society.

People that don’t live in the southeast may not know about some of the travel destinations in these states. I’m sure some are wondering where you go in Alabama or Tennessee to have a family vacation. I think Mobile, Alabama is beautiful and a great choice for a family vacation. In Tennessee, you have the Great Smokey Mountains with places like Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg to visit. Every U.S. state has at least one place that travelers would like to spend a week in. While a state like Florida has vacation spots all over and you could find a family vacation destination blindfolded in the Sunshine State.

Over in the Carolinas you have the best of both worlds. The family can spend a few days in the mountains and then spend the rest of their vacation at the beach. The Outer Banks vacations may not be as well-known to those families living on the west coast and in other parts of the country. The people living in the southeast know about these Outer Banks vacations and they consider this area as good as any other spot in the southern U.S., for a family vacation.

Georgia and Mississippi both offer vacations along the ocean’s beaches and they both have many other good attractions; that makes a family trip worth considering. The older families that have no kids will love the casinos around the Biloxi area in Mississippi. Over in the Peach State you have Stone Mountain, the World of Coca Cola, and the Georgia Aquarium; which is only the beginning for an itinerary, around the capital city of Atlanta.

You can’t go wrong with any family vacations to the southeast. Warm weather and the sunshine draws people in each year to visit these places in the south. How many of these states have you been to? Going to Las Vegas has always been a dream of mine. I always wanted to walk into a Vegas Casino and look over the aisles and aisles of slot machines you see on TV or on a movie about Las Vegas. I wanted to pick which aisle I went down and then choose which slot machine I would actually play. I always figured I was destined to play the right slot machine and at the right moment. Where I would pull the slot lever one time and would win the jackpot on my first pull. I was always jealous of those that got this opportunity and just thought it would be so much fun choosing just 1 slot machine; out of all the ones visitors get to choose from daily. I still have never did this, but have been to a few other areas in the country that offer slots and with all of my pulls to-date, I still haven’t hit the big one yet.

Las Vegas – Wynn Hotel 

While I still wait for my big chance to visit Las Vegas and play that slot machine for the first time; others are choosing Vegas for a different reason. Some will plan a trip to one of those big and fancy Las Vegas Hotels, where they will take-in the nightlife Vegas offers. The lovers that just can’t wait to spend eternity together will go to Las Vegas to just get married. A night on the town or a Vegas Wedding are all good reasons to choose a Vegas trip, but a whole new crowd of visitors are now dreaming of a Vegas Vacation.

People are now going to Vegas to play cards and bet their money on their poker skills. I know this may not sound like anything new, but it really is. The television coverage that shows these big poker tournaments in Vegas taking place; has trickled through out the country. People all across America and in many different states, now want to visit Las Vegas for the big poker tournaments; rather than the bright lights and noises from the slot machines. It’s the tournaments on TV that has led to this new Vegas trend. The large Las Vegas Resorts will hosts and sponsor these poker tournaments on television and its great publicity for them. The poker players will want to stay in a location that has these huge poker tournaments, in the hopes they can make it to the final table and see their self on the TV screen playing cards.

For those people that like to play cards and trust in their poker skills; this may be the best way to spend your hard-earned money in Vegas. The odds may still not be in your favor, but card players do like the fact they have more control in poker; when compared to some of the other popular betting games that line up and down the Vegas Strip. Now I ask you, “do you feel lucky today“?

For those that like to ski and plan exotic ski trips; perhaps a trip to Argentina is what you’re looking for. To ski in Argentina sounds like a once in a lifetime trip, for those that like to take on new and exciting ski slopes. Your challenge awaits you and your friends; when you decide to make the decision to travel to some of the most beautiful ski slopes in the world. The pictures from Argentina are breath-taking and I’m sure these snow-packed hills and mountains would be very challenging. Skiers that are in search of new areas to show-off their skiing skills, will find all they want and more in these ski resort areas located in Argentina.

Your first choice will be deciding on where to stay in Argentina. I could see a lot of skiers selecting Cerro Chapelco or the Cerro Catedral Ski Resort, for their skiing vacations in Argentina. These are great looking places to visit in Argentina; judging by some of the pictures I have seen in these areas. It would make a great gift to give someone that likes to take off on long trips to go skiing. What’s the longest ski trip you have ever planned away from home? Have you or someone you know ever left the country to go skiing before? If a long-distance ski trip is something you would like to do, I can’t think of another place better than the slopes located in Argentina.

The Argentina Ski Resorts are just like the ones in the U.S., if not better in some cases. They provide everything the local travelers or people coming from other countries would want in a ski resort. The resorts all offer various activities that you and your friends or family will love. You can choose to go alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, or take an adventure with the sledges led by Siberian dogs. I think one of the expeditions that Chapelco Mountain offers would be fun too. You can take an expedition on snowshoes or in the snow cats. There is just a little bit of everything to do in these beautiful ski resorts in Argentina. You and the whole family will have plenty of activities to choose from, if you decide to make your next family vacation a ski trip to Argentina.

I’m not looking to make any big trips this summer. I would like to get my hands a little dirty and go gold panning in North Georgia. The way the prices of gold has shot up in the last year or so, makes me want to get out and find some. Gold isn’t hard to find in Georgia. Especially for those that live in the gold belt that runs through about 1/3 of the state. I really don’t want to travel to areas where gold has already been discovered. I would like to make a new discovery and tap into a region that’s never had any gold found.

Really all of the states have some gold in them. There’s a good chance you live on land or own property that contains gold. Gold has been mined commercially in 48 out of the 50 states. Kentucky and Hawaii are the only 2 states that have never had any commercial gold mining to take place in their state. I’m not sure about Hawaii, but I know there would be gold present in the state of Kentucky.

At the moment I don’t even own a gold pan. I will need to buy a few supplies before I start up my gold searching expedition in the mountains of North Georgia. I may not get rich in my gold finding adventures, but it will still be some good exercise for me and give me a chance to get outdoors. Sometimes spending a little time with Mother Nature will do wonders for our health and the way we feel. I”m sure I will find a little gold this year. I just hope I can strike a gold vein that will pay for my bills for a few years. A lot of that gold is just out there waiting to be found. We won’t never find any if we don’t give it a try, so I plan to use my summer vacations this year on gold trips.

A new mission has been completed up in space. The guys working on the Space Station have successfully added an observation deck to the space craft they rely on to keep them safe in outer space. This was not a cheap project for the crew that make up the International Space Station. The new observation deck cost 27 million dollars. I doubt anyone on Earth has ever spent that kind of money on a deck or overlook for their home.

This is just another toy for the guys that are lucky enough to get a chance to experience life on the Space Station. One day we may get to see ordinary citizens have the opportunity to travel to the space station. I’m not sure if I would ever want to go or not. I would love it once I got up there and I would like to see the Earth from outer space. I just don’t trust the travel methods that are in place now that gets these brave men and women to the International Space Station. It takes a powerful rocket system to get those astronauts in outer space and a lot of things have to go right in order for this to succeed. I’m not sure how long it took these guys to build their new observation deck, but sometimes the smallest things can take a lot of time when your working outside of the Earth’s atmosphere. If NASA gave you the chance to visit the space station one day, would you like to go? I don’t think we are too far away from seeing normal people make the long trip into outer space.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you want to go? I have a few choices and I hope to visit them all some day. I have never did much traveling in my life, but plan to later on. I have so many places in the United States I want to see and it’s a must for me to see these travel destinations. If I could pick only one place to visit and was offered a free trip, I would probably select Italy. I love the country of Italy. I think all the water canals in Venice are cool and that’s the city I would like to see most. Good food and beautiful scenery are just a couple of the things that a Italian vacation would offer.

I know at the bottom of the world there is another place I would also like to see one day. New Zealand has some amazing waterfalls and it’s my number 2 choice to visit one day. I have heard of a lot of other people wanting to travel to New Zealand, so I know I’m not alone. I hope New Zealand and Italy both get stamped on my passport one day. Which place would you like to travel to and spend a week?

The travel agencies and places that offer vacation packages know when travelers like to plan their summer vacations. Most people that take a vacation every year will wait for the holidays and New Years Day to pass; before they start making their summer vacation plans. Now is the time when people start booking hotels and motels and mapping out their travel destinations. This is a good time to plan the summer vacation, so you will have first choice on rooms and reservations at the popular travel destinations. For those that wait until later to start making their plans, may have to work around a resort or hotel’s schedule. You can also probably find some good deals and get your summer vacation packages cheaper in January compared to someone that starts making plans in the Spring.

The cancun vacation packages and other places located in warm spots, will be the first packages that get sold out for spring and early summer. If your travel destination this year is for a colder climate and weather isn’t an issue; then you can probably wait longer to book your travel plans. I like to go by the motto “safer than sorry” and I would book my reservations as soon as I know where I was going to go for vacation this year. There’s no sense in chancing it and everyone wants to choose the place and time when they take their yearly vacations. If you and your family hasn’t decided on a travel destination for 2010; now would be a good time to do that. Get the family together this evening or wait for the upcoming weekend and discuss where everyone wants to go on vacation for this year. Don’t let the family conference end until everyone has agreed on where the trip should be this summer. This way you can get an early start on your travel planning and won’t have to worry about a certain hotel or resort filling up, for the week you have selected, for the family vacation. My best travel tips for today is to go ahead and make that deposit for the 2010 family vacation this summer and buy those vacation packages now!

I know a lot of my friends go play golf in South Carolina every year. It isn’t a far drive from our North Georgia homes. I have never made this trip with them before, but I think I might take them up on the offer in 2010. I believe they go to about 5 different golf courses and will do this in a 4 day trip. A game of golf in the morning and one in the evening is how they usually do it. They do try to play 2 rounds a day at different golf courses when they arrive, so in case bad weather comes, they will have played the courses they wanted to go to. If you have never been to Myrtle Beach; then you should try it at least once. I have been there two times and loved it each time I went. There is a lot more things to do in Myrtle Beach and golf isn’t your only choice. The great seafood restaurants, shopping, and the beach are just a few of the things you will like in Myrtle Beach. An Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel is the next best thing to a resort. If you don’t want to stay at a resort, you can select from a long list of hotels in the area. I do recommend getting one that is on the ocean side of the strip. It’s a lot better when you can leave your hotel room and head for the ocean and you don’t have to worry about crossing the street and dodging the traffic on the strip. The stage is set and the 4 best college teams in football will be matched up against each other this year. The bias BCS Rankings wasn’t able to put the best 4 college football teams against each other, but the ACC and SEC did manage to accomplish what the BCS couldn’t. We are lucky as college football fans to have a championship game in the ACC and SEC so we can see good teams facing good teams. The best two teams in the country is no doubt the Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide. These top two teams in the 2009 college football season will get a chance to face each other in the SEC Championship Game.

The winner of the SEC Championship Game between the Crimson Tide and the Gators will be crowned the 2009 NCAA Champions in college football. The official BCS rankings will not show this on their final results, but this is because of their bias voters and not having the ability to understand how competitive football is in the South. We see some of these undefeated teams barely beating small schools; yet they’re still ranked in the top 10 in the country. Even the Texas Longhorns are over ranked and don’t deserve a BCS bowl game this year. They have manage to squeak by weak competition and don’t deserve their bid for a title game this year. It was the middle of October when voters said Texas should finish unbeaten, since they had already faced 1 or 2 good teams on their schedule. The South offers a much tougher competition level and just look at the opponents of Florida and Alabama. Their final regular season game was against Florida State and Auburn and they had to play these two games before they face each other in the Georgia Dome for the SEC Championship Game. The Texas Longhorns or none of the other undefeated teams in the top 10 could a Auburn or Florida State and then have to play a team like Alabama or Florida to just have the chance to play in the BCS Championship Game. No question the SEC has the best two teams in the country and 2009 college football champions will be crowned in the Georgia Dome on December 5th.

The ACC will be providing the next best two teams in college football. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Clemson Tigers will square off in Tampa Bay to settle the champions from the ACC. Either one of these two teams would easily defeat TCU, Texas, Cincinnati, Boise State or even a Pac 10 Oregon team that is ranked 8th in the country for some reason. You can just look at Oregon ranked 8th to see how messed up the BCS Rankings are. Oregon has lost two games this year to Stanford and Boise State. They beat Purdue by 2 points and won against Arizona by a slim margin of 3 points. It would be a sad day for Oregon’s football team if they had to face a team like the Clemson Tigers from the ACC. Clemson would run all over Oregon and any other Pac 10 team. This is the BCS problem and the environment they have created in college football. Clemson is probably the weakest of the 4 teams playing in the SEC and ACC championship games and our weakest elite team could easily beat their most elite, not to mention the other college football teams that are over ranked.

The ACC Game is determined by the best team from the Atlantic Division which is the Clemson Tigers and the best team from the Coastal Division which is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The 2009 ACC Championship will be held in Raymond James Stadium and this is where the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers play their home football games on Sundays in Florida.

The ACC championship game is sponsored by Dr Pepper and they will be helping provide which team is the 3rd best team in the country. The SEC will have the top two teams in college football and the loser will be the 2nd best team in the 2009 college football season. The winner of this ACC match up between the Tigers and Yellow Jackets will be 3rd in the country and the loser will be considered the 4th best team in the country. I would rank the TCU team 5th overall in the country and this would complete the top 5 teams in college football.

I don’t think 6th place and down is really that important in college football. We should know which teams make up the top 5 positions and it worked out in this order for the 2009 college football season. The BCS Rankings can’t get the top 5 teams in the country due to money from programs like USC Trojan football and the bias voters that don’t want to see an all southern BCS Championship Game; even if they’re the best two teams in the country. There will not be another game in the regular season or in a bowl game that will feature as much talent and good football players as the SEC Championship Game will have in Atlanta, Georgia on December 5th. The ACC Game will also fall on December 5th and ABC will carry this game.

The over rated team from Southern California took another step toward their status as an unproven and money driven college football team. You would never think the number 9 team in the nation would lose to two weak Pac 10 teams; while only winning by 5 points the week before. These bias voters toward the USC Trojan football program and the respect they get from the BCS Rankings is just crazy. A very average team from the Pac 10 handed a beat down to the mighty Trojans; who have never been mighty at all. Their preseason rankings each year is a black mark on college football and the system would work fine, if you took out the USC bias voters and the way these voters build up other teams that are opponents for the USC football team.

Stanford rolled in to the Coliseum and left no doubts to the country that this team isn’t a top 25 team in the country. It all starts with the quaterback in football and starting a new season with a true freshmen quarterback should have been enough to get USC out of the top 25 rankings. Even with their poor play against average to weak teams still didn’t seem to bother the BCS and the way they kept this team floating in the standings. It’s a sad situation in Southern California and to the rest of the country that love college football. Even with this historical blowout on their home turf, they will still be considered a top 25 team. We have all got caught up in this Pete Carol fantasy and it’s time the BCS takes this team out of the top 25 teams in the country. They haven’t been a top 25 team for a long time now and it’s unfair to give these guys BCS bowl games they don’t deserve. It’s over USC and no recruits want to come to a school with pending charges from the NCAA coming. USC is going to lose bowl eligibility in the near future; since they paid Reggie Bush’s family money. You can not pay players or their families in college sports and the NCAA is being monitored to see how they deal with the payments USC college gave to the New Orleans Saints Reggie Bush’s family.

The season is over for USC and it’s been over for a long time now. There is no reason why this team should be a top 10 or even a top 25 team next year. The preseason polls can show some justice and keep the USC Trojans from the 10 best teams in the country, because it’s USC that is the problem in college football. The BCS rankings and system will work; when we get impartial voters and polls for these college football rankings. USC deserves no post season football this year and all bowl games should ban USC from their games.
