Stop making the excuses and understand that our health is the most important thing in our lives. Spending a few dollars in the health foods section of the grocery store or buying some fat burner supplements is where our money can be put to good use.

  • Elderly Care with a Medical Alarm

There a number of Medical Alarm solutions whether you are young or old.

Sometimes the little things can be a life-threatening situation for the older generation. A walk around the yard or falling down some where inside the home and not being able to get up could turn into a life or death situation. Wearing a Medical Alarm would allow them to call for help; if a situation like that were to ever come up. These life-saving gadgets could alert authorities to sending the proper help to assist in an emergency situation. You may have a hard time convincing an older person they need one and perhaps you could let them know it’s for your benefit. Let your loved-ones know this will cause you less stress and worries if they wear one of these medical devices and maybe they will wear it for your sake.

Brickhouse Alert is the best choice for medical alarms. Theirs is equipped with an emergency button that can be pressed for help and they also have a “fall detection” that could alert authorities without ever pressing the emergency button. They also offer a GPS tracking bracelet that has a two speaker phone system that would work like a cell phone. The bracelets could be a great way to call someone for help and they can also help with our loved-ones that become lost or missing. The GPS technology could help track them down through the bracelet if we lose contact with them. Don’t be afraid to show your love and sit down with your family and talk about getting a Medical Alarm or tracking bracelet for a loved one you’re concerned about.

  • No matter how strong or tough you think you’re, there is no escaping cancer. Cancer affects men and women and it doesn’t have any age limits either. The very young to the very old can get cancer and it can hit anyone at anytime. If you don’t believe me, just ask a great athlete like Mark Herzlich.

You won’t find a tougher or more gifted athlete in college football than Mark Herzlich from the Boston College Eagles. Boston College plays in one of the toughest leagues in college football that’s called the Atlantic Coast Conference or ACC. Not just any college team or any college football player can play in the ACC. It takes a special god given talent to play in this league, because these are some of the best college football players in the country. Anyone that just makes a team in the ACC has tremendous football talents. If by some chance they can actually stand out and be above the competition that the ACC has to offer; than they are a very special breed of football player.

If anyone got a chance to see the Eagles play last year during the college football season, they would have seen a lean and tough machine taking down opposing blockers, running backs, quarter backs and anything else that got in number ninety four’s way. Mark Herzlich was the man wearing that jersey number for the Eagles and he’s one of the best linebackers I have ever seen playing at the college ranks. There is no question this man has NFL talent in every way possible, because he’s just that good of a player. He was the leader on the defensive side of the ball for Boston College and the other 10 guys on the field could feed off his tremendous speed and tackling ability. Having great athletes like this on your team only makes everyone around him that much better. This is the type of player the Eagles had lining up for them on Saturdays in the ACC. His great play led him to being named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and this is saying something, when you play in one of the toughest conferences college football has to offer.

Now Mark could have easily put his name in the hat for the NFL Draft and would have been a 1st round pick without question in last month’s pro football draft. Instead he elected to stay for his senior year and the fans, coaches, and players couldn’t have been happier to see their star linebacker coming back for another season.  All the excitement around the BC campus has now turned to frowns as Mark Herzlich announced on Thursday he has Ewing’s Sarcoma; which is a form of cancer. He’s been feeling pain in one of his legs and after getting it checked out earlier in the week, that is when he was diagnosed with this awful disease.

Ewing’s Sarcoma is a malignant tumor that is often found in the soft tissues of the body. It can also be found in the bones of humans and I’m not sure where Mark’s tumor is located. He is going to get more tests done in his home state of Pennsylvania and maybe then doctors can determine the extent of his cancer.

Mark Herzlich who is a resident of Wayne, Pennsylvania isn’t going to be a easy victim for this cancer that is inside his body. Anyone that has seen this young man on the football field knows that this cancer has picked the wrong person to mess with this time. I don’t think anything can stop number 94 and that goes for cancer too! I know there are a lot of concerned people in Mark’s corner right now, but I think someone should have some concern for the cancer in his leg. Mark isn’t going to be a easy victim and I can’t see anything stopping him from putting on that golden BC helmet this fall. No running backs or quarterbacks from the ACC can relax this off season in their training and conditioning. Mark Herzlich will be back for the Eagles and this man has more business to do on the football field. I’m sure he’s already an early favorite for Defensive Player of the Year in the ACC; which he will be defending his own title after winning the prestigious award as a junior.

Hang in there Mark and I look forward to watching number 94 causing havoc and chaos for opposing offenses in college football. I think cancer has truly met its match this time!

  • Appetite for TV

I’m not the world’s greatest person to give exercising tips. I prefer to exercise my TV watching skills and I do this a lot. I often find myself eating a lot while watching TV. I’m sure the television commercials don’t help this and they do show some things that make me get hungry. I would probably be better off to take a appetite suppressant before I sat down to watch TV. Do you have this problem while watching television too?

I know the food ads are here to stay and no way could we get them banned off the air. This worked for tobacco products but I don’t think the food industry would be as easy to tackle. I can eat a full meal and still want to snack while watching something on the tube. I guess there is an addiction to snacking on junk food when watching television and I do suffer from this. I really don’t know of a way to cure it and not sure I really want to either. The bad thing is when you don’t have the junk food to snack on and you watch TV all evening and craving something to munch on. I like the sweet treats a lot but the salty peanuts and potato chips are good too. I have an appetite to watch lots of television but I also have the same appetite to eat food while I watch my daily TV.

  • Millions Die from Swine Flu

This isn’t the headlines yet; but could we see this soon? No one knows for sure how far swine flu has reached globally and experts are still trying to get a grip on the situation. The media has been spreading this like wildfire over the last several days and most people are aware of what’s going on. It would appear right now that this virus has started from Mexico; since there are already over 100 deaths being blamed on swine flu there. In the last couple of days we have seen all of North America with reported cases and now the people in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and even New Zealand are seeing cases of swine flu in their regions. The virus is expanding rapidly and no one is for sure on how to contain it right now.

    What Is Swine Flu?

Pigs are a host for many viruses. They are much like birds and can house many different viruses at one time. Sometimes these viruses mutate and create a new strain of virus that has never been seen before. Normally these viruses are contagious in the swine or pig population and they can be transmitted easily to each other. It’s rare when a pig can give a human the virus to carry on but it does happen. This is the current situation we are dealing with now and the new virus is in humans and now humans are spreading it to each other.

Once a person first gets the virus in their body, they might not be sick right away. It can take several days to start feeling the effects of swine flu. During this time is when one human can give it to another human and not even know it. By the time the first person starts getting sick, it is usually too late because they have done gave it to several others. This process goes on and on and pretty soon large numbers are exposed to the swine flu virus.

From a global perspective the numbers are still very low. The part that concerns doctors and health officials the most is the fact that it is spreading and no way to stop it. It is likely that millions will be infected with the swine flu virus over the next several months. Every country in the world will have to prepare for this new strain of virus. The medical community has caught this swine flu pretty quick and gives them more time to prepare for this new mutated virus that is starting to spread.

    Good News About Swine Flu

The good news about this awful virus right now is that it doesn’t appear to be too deadly. It is causing people to loose their life right now, but better medical treatments for patients could stop the death toll from rising. The latest viral medicines are working on the new strain of swine flu and it appears to be easy to deal with; than the previous virus over the winter. Even though the virus is new and a lot of questions still remain about how harmful it might really be, it isn’t as devastating as it could be. This is a relief to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) in Atlanta, Georgia. They seem pretty confident they will be able to deal with this on a local front in the United States and help other countries globally with this new strain of virus.

    Don’t Travel to the USA?

It’s funny how some leaders in the European Union are making such statements like “Don’t travel to the USA or Mexico”. You are actually better off in the United States since they do have a big supply of treatments on hand to take care of the sick. These treatments can deal with the symptoms of this new virus and make the sick feel more comfortable as they wait for their bodies to take care of the virus naturally. The swine flu is a global problem and there is no escape from its reaches or it would appear like that right now. The people in North America will be on the front line of solving the problem and they have the medicine and technology in medicine to deal with this problem the best. You would be much better off in the United States than any other country right now. This swine flu is beatable, but those in 3rd world nations or the ones that don’t get proper medical treatment might suffer fatal consequences right now. Help is available and anyone that gets cold or flu like symptoms over the next few months will want to see their local doctor and make sure they don’t have the new swine flu virus. Your local doctor’s office will be crowded over the next several months as everyone will be rushing in to see if they have this new virus. It’s a common over reaction in our society and the media does play a part in this. The doctors may have to work overtime right now, but it’s for a good reason and to make sure that this doesn’t become a bigger problem than it needs to be right now.

  • Mesothelioma Concerns

Most manufactures today are aware of the dangers of asbestos and the types of cancers these materials cause. This wasn’t always the case and some people that use to work in factories may have been exposed to asbestos over the years. These asbestos products have been linked to mesothelioma and this is a cancer that can be very serious. Workers that were exposed to any type of asbestos products may have a legal claim and should seek an attorney that could help them in a court of law. I’m not sure all mesothelioma cases are linked to asbestos and they may be other ways a person could have this awful cancer. The fear and concerns over mesothelioma is not as great as it once was, but some people may still be suffering from it and don’t even know it. All factory workers over the last couple of decades should get a check-up to make sure they are not experiencing any signs of exposure to asbestos. If you’re diagnosed with mesothelioma; you may want to contact a lawyer to see what your legal rights are.

  • Ready to Work on the Tan

I guess my lazy days are coming to an end and it’s going to be rough getting back in shape. I know the grass will start growing fast soon and that means I will be the one out there mowing it down. I don’t mind mowing grass if I’m looking for a little exercise or just working on my tan. I really don’t tan like most people do; I just get a little color that’s an upgrade from my usual pale white skin. The best place to get a tan is at the ocean, so you can take advantage of the ocean breezes that help keep you cool from the hot sun. Going to the beach is also good for watching all the girls sport their latest bikinis and I don’t ever get tired of that.

I really don’t have to lie out in the sun that much to get a tan. Just a little outdoor work that needs to be done or working in the garden usually gets me plenty of sun. I know I will never try a tanning bed for a little darker skin. I laid in one when I was younger, so I could get my skin use to the sun. We were going on a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and I wanted to build on my tan at the beach. A week before we left to go on our trip, I started lying in a tanning bed daily. I was fine the first few times, but soon my body had enough of the tanning bed rays. I started itching and it was so bad, I couldn’t even sleep at night. I didn’t think I was going to be able to go on my trip, because I was itching that badly. It lasted a couple of days, but it felt like I itched for weeks. Since that bad experience, I have never laid in another tanning bed again. I only tan in the natural way these days and let Mother Nature do all of my tanning.
