Remembering the TV Show Hee Haw

Hee Haw

It’s been a long time since Hee Haw has been on television. We have seen it come back in syndication over the past few years, but it’s been ages since any new episodes were made. Hee Haw started in 1969 on the CBS Network. If you want to catch a glimpse of one of the old Hee Haw shows today, you could tune-in to RFD-TV and they’re currently airing old Hee Haw shows on Sundays.

Buck & Roy from Hee Haw

Hee Haw was led by their two front men who were Buck Owens and Roy Clark. These two headed the show that would feature other popular personalities that all of America would grow to love. Most people living in rural areas got the show, but surprisingly it was popular in places like New York City and Los Angeles in their run from 1969 to 1971.

Junior Samples

One of my favorite characters on Hee Haw was Junior Samples. He was from Cumming, Georgia and one of the bright spots on the show. Junior would often have problems getting his lines right and the producers of Hee Haw didn’t hide this footage. They made sure to show all of Junior’s mistakes and I doubt all the cast together could add up to all the mistakes Junior made on each episode of Hee Haw. Junior’s used cars was always a funny segment and there was even a band that named their self after the famous phone number “BR-549″ that never did change. Not sure how the show came up with that as the phone number to the used car lot owned by Junior Samples. If anyone knows this; then please reply and let me know. Junior was as country in real life as he was on the show and he wore overalls before ever going to film any episodes of Hee Haw.

Stringbean from Hee Haw

Stringbean was another character I like from Hee Haw. His real name was David Akeman and he never had too many big roles on the show as a front man. You could often see Stringbean in the background for many of the Hee Haw skits. He was the scarecrow you would see in the corn field; when jokes or salutes were being given from the cornfield. Hee Haw left the scarecrow up as a tribute to Stringbean for his untimely death in 1973.

Grampa Jones - Hee Haw

You can’t mention Hee Haw without talking about Grampa Jones. He was the wise one on the show and gave great view points on a variety of things. He could make you a little hungry sometimes when Hee Haw would do their skit “HEY GRAMPA! WHAT’S FOR DINNER?’. He had a unique and very southern way of naming food items that were on the dinner menu. Looking back on it now, I think Grampa Jones was a big part of what kept the show together and made Hee Haw such a big success in the early 1970′s.

Cathy Baker Hee Haw

I don’t think no one could forget Cathy Baker who played the perky blonde girl on Hee Haw. She was the clean one that dressed in descent attire for the show (usually overalls). The other Hee Haw girls would wear much more revealing clothes, but for Cathy it was always simple and sweet. She would normally have the Hee Haw Dog next to her in many of the skits or songs that got performed on Hee Haw. According to the Hew Haw website the name of the dog was “Buddy the Wonder Dog”, but I remember the early Hee Haw shows calling the bloodhound “Beauregard”. One thing that Cathy did get to do each episode was to close the show. Hee Haw had their own song each time that would close out the show and then you could see Cathy saying “That’s All!” each time Hee Haw went off. I will use Mrs. Hee Haw’s line to close this blog post on remembering the TV Show Hee Haw. That’s all!

  • Conan Obrien vs Jay Leno

The battle of late night TV in America is just getting started and for good reason. Viewers are all choosing sides in this battle for the prime time spot in late night television, if there is such a thing. Apparently as far as Conan O’Brien’s corner is concerned, the prime time spot does exist for the program that follows our late local news in America. Most know that Johnny Carson held this spot for many years on NBC. Since his departure we have seen a variety of night show hosts try to fill the Carson spot. At one time Jay Leno was pretty successful with this duty, but soon he would give it up to Conan O’Brien and Conan has did a terrific job.

Now it appears Jay Leno wants to get back in the business and NBC welcomed him back with open arms. They liked the idea so much, they actually gave Leno a real prime time spot on NBC and this was at the 10 PM hour; before the local news would come on. This didn’t work out too well and after 4 months of declining ratings, the Jay Leno in prime time has not worked out. For some odd reason, the producers at NBC think it would do better, if they move Jay Leno back to the spot right after the local news and push Conan O’Brien down 1 hour. This news didn’t sit too well for Conan O’Brien and to this point; he has refused to make room for the big-chin Leno that America didn’t want to see at 10 PM and they certainly don’t want to see him replacing the talented Conan O’Brien.

    David Letterman

The NBC troubles is making one late night host smile from ear to ear. David Letterman seems to be benefiting from the early struggles between Leno and O’Brien, but don’t look for this pattern to continue. David Letterman isn’t that great to watch either and his ratings may see a decline if NBC allows the feud between Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno to continue. Since no talk show host has a gag order yet, this could work out well for NBC in the long run. It might have been planned by NBC the whole time, who knows? We do know that America loves controversy and if this feud continues on NBC; then late night TV watchers will be tuning in to see what Conan has to say about Jay Leno. I wouldn’t get happy too fast over there Letterman, you may just be walking into a clever trap set by NBC. It doesn’t help when David Letterman uses his air time to talk about the Leno/O’Brien battle and this only gives more reasons for viewers to tune in to NBC.

I won’t pick between broadcasting networks and tell you which station to watch late at night, but I will throw my support in the Conan Obrien corner. I think Conan has did really well for the past 5 years, entertaining the sleepy-eyed Americans as they go to sleep watching his show. Not sleeping due to the content of the show’s material, but going to sleep to wake up for their 9 to 5 jobs that the people in this country do 5 days a week. Conan has worked his way up the ranks and has did nothing to get pushed down those ranks. We can certainly say that Jay Leno has did nothing to over take Conan’s Show and Leno’s talents are average at best. I don’t think NBC should blindly grant Conan Obrien this spot forever, but as for now, we choose Conan Obrien over Jay Leno.

Who do you want to see in the NBC time slot immediately following your late night local news?

    A. Conan O’Brien

    B. Jay Leno

    C. Other?

Conan Obrien NBC Late Night Show

My vote is for “A” and I will take the wittiest late night personality currently on the air and that is hands down Conan O’Brien. I strongly urge NBC to keep Conan in his rightful time slot and give the hour after his show to Jay Leno or you could do midget wrestling? I would just like to see if Jay Leno is man enough to accept the spot behind Conan O’Brien and I think most Americans are more curious about that than anything. Let’s see if Leno could hold up during the graveyard shift like Conan did so proudly before he got his rightful time on NBC.

No matter if you’re on Jay Leno or Conan Obrien’s side, I think we can all laugh at Letterman for thinking he’s the winner in all of this. Big mistake on his part to keep this public feud going; as his viewers click away from his show to see what Conan O’Brien has to say about Jay Leno.

    By the way….

For any late night show host that mentions my blog post on the air, I will instantly give you my support on this blog and all of my other blogs. My support can be bought for a little exposure on late night TV. I think I might just have the power to sway votes and grow NBC’s late night viewership numbers with the words I can cleverly craft on the World Wide Web.

  • Online Gaming Fun for Free or Real

There are a lot of fun places you can go online to play games. You can enjoy casino-style games with no cost and play them for free. There are other places that allow you to play with real money and Internet users have the chance to win real cash money. The online casino games are very popular and it continues to be a growing industry on the World Wide Web.

Most of these games are easy to play. Beginners can figure out how to play most of these games in a few short minutes. I know playing roulette online is an easy game to learn and I enjoy playing it. It’s the game that has a spinning wheel with numbers and a little white ball is released and will land on one of these numbers. You try to figure out which number the ball will come to a rest on and that is one of the ways to win in roulette. This game offers other betting options and it’s not as hard to win as you might think.

When I go to a real life casino, I normally play the slots more than I do the other games. The card tables are fun at the real casinos, but usually it costs you a little more to play. The slot machines can be a cheap way to pass the time at a casino. My biggest win on a card table was for $330 and this was playing 3 card poker. It works just like regular poker, but you only get 3 cards and there is no draw. I guess it could be called 3 card stud. My biggest payout has been on a slot machine and I have won $1250 and $650 in the same night and on the same slot machine! If you find a slot machine that is hot and paying out, I would stay on that machine. The slot machines that are cold seem to stay cold and I do best when I get to play on one that is letting you win. I like playing the online slot games too and I often play these when I get bored. I haven’t never tried to win real money online before, but I have heard of people winning online. Give some of these online games a try sometime and it’s a great way to prepare for a trip to Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

  • Alabama College Football Champions 2010

Once again we get to talk about bringing a playoff system to college football, since the BCS Rankings are so messed up right now. It was clear on Thursday night that the University of Texas Longhorns had no business being on the same field with the SEC Champion Alabama Crimson Tide. The Longhorns were out matched and out classed in every direction and the final score was only close; due to the fact Alabama played a conservative 2nd half. Nick Saban and his coaching staff from Alabama are not quiet aware of the troubles the SEC has when it comes to getting fair rankings in the BCS Poll. They should have did more in the 2nd half to prove the differences in talent, but their conservative play-calling made the final score look respectable for the team in white from Texas.

Apparently Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreet actually thought Texas had a chance to win this game. It was clear by the voice of announcer Brent Musberger from ABC Sports, that he was in favor of an upset and got excited when Texas did something good. His voice carried less weight and enthusiasm when Alabama did something well and they were doing things well all night Thursday. The prediction from Lou Holtz before the game was probably the funniest thing I heard all night. He picked Texas to win the game. Not due to anything Texas had or any special athletes or sophisticated play-calling from Mack Brown and his staff. No, he chose Texas to win and his reason was because Alabama had played such perfect football all year long and they were bound to mess up some where. Well Mr. Holtz, that did not happen and this wasn’t even an exciting championship game for college football fans with the huge difference in talent level.

The SEC and ACC are clearly the two best conferences in football. It’s hard for teams in the ACC and SEC to get up for bowl games in college football. This is because they have to play against such weak opponents in these bowl games and they prepare much better for the talented teams that play in their conferences. No big surprises to see a few southern teams lose; since they were playing against schools that didn’t even belong in bowl games to start with.

It’s time the BCS started to recognize the teams from the South more and give them a higher ranking than these small schools and the schools that don’t play against any real competition. The Alabama Crimson Tide had two turnovers that gave the Texas Longhorns great field position and they only managed to put up 6 points in the first quarter? Texas failed to score in the 2nd quarter and got 7 points in the 3rd quarter and then scored 8 points in the 4th quarter to give them their 21 points in the BCS Championship. The Alabama Crimson Tide scored 24 points in the 2nd quarter of the National Championship Game and these were the only points they needed to win the game. It’s pretty sad when a team doesn’t score in the first quarter and their points from the 2nd quarter is enough to win the game. It was funny to hear Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreet talk about how Texas is getting a foot-hold on the game in the 3rd quarter. They were not getting any foot-holds! Alabama came out of the locker room at half time and played conservative football. They controlled the game the entire time and there was never a doubt who the best football team was that night. Why can’t you guys just admit that Alabama and the SEC teams are far more superior to these weak schools in the Midwest and on the West Coast? The SEC has won the BCS Title for 4 years straight now and have did this with different teams. It’s not like one school had a special class of football players. These are different teams that are destroying these weak opponents you keep lining up for them in the BCS Championship Games.

Brent Musberger was asked to chime-in on the best BCS Championship Game ever. Guess which one he picked? He would naturally choose the one that goes back 5 years and not the previous 4 that the SEC has dominated. He selected the 2006 BCS Championship Game between the USC Trojans and the Texas Longhorns. What’s funny about this story is 2 things. The first thing is he claims that the 2006 USC Trojans (who don’t play against any real competition) as the best college football team ever. Well Vince Young and the Longhorns had something to say about that as they beat the USC Trojans in that game. Doesn’t that make the Texas team of 2006 the best college football team ever, Brent? After all, they were undefeated that year, even though the Texas Longhorns doesn’t play against any good teams either. Even when USC or these other over ranked BCS teams get beat, these guys that influence the rankings still think they’re the best.

The second thing that is funny about this story with Brent Musberger is the Auburn Tigers. Guess where the Auburn Tigers play? Yes, they are another SEC team. Their record was spotless too and no one beat them in 2006. This is why college football is so screwed up. The SEC can’t produce undefeated teams; due to the level of competition they face on most Saturdays; but when they do, they fully deserve to be in the BCS Title Game before any other conference or school. The Auburn Tigers would have destroyed the Texas Longhorns in 2006 and they would have beat the “greatest college football team in history” USC Trojans too!

I’m already seeing USC as being 5th ranked in the BCS rankings for next year? This is the same USC team that got beat by the Washington Huskies this year and they didn’t win a football game last year. The USC Trojans are going to be suspended for a future bowl game, since they paid Reggie Bush’s family. New allegations this year about them paying McKnight and USC is in double trouble. College football recruits are avoiding USC due to these suspensions they will have to face and no talented football players want to go to USC; when they know they won’t get to play in any bowl games. The USC team is done and that is why McKnight is now going to the NFL and Pete Carol is not sticking around to face these penalties either as he is going to coach the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. Let’s get the USC Trojans out of our top 25 rankings, so we can focus on more deserving teams that have talent and don’t pay their players. USC got over ranked with their freshmen QB this year and he’s not going to be that much better as a sophomore and USC does not belong in the top 5, top 10, top 20, or the top 25.

Congratulations to the Alabama Crimson Tide for winning the SEC Championship (the real championship game in college football) and for beating another over ranked BCS team in the National Championship Game in college football. As long as they let us have a team there, we will win it every time!

  • Larry’s Country Diner

Where People Meet and the Hungry Eat!

    Larry's Country Diner

Products From Larry’s Country Diner CLICK HERE

A show that comes on RFD TV has caught my attention lately. I’m not sure when Larry opened up his diner on TV, but I have set the DVR to record each show that comes on. It’s a show that the older people would appreciate more than the younger folks would. I’m only 37 years old and people my age may not get Larry’s Country Diner like I do.

You first have to be southern to understand the music and stories that get told on Larry’s Country Diner. It helps if you like country music, gospel music, and especially the country classics that involve a bit of gospel music. Each show brings laughter to me and this is what I like best about Larry’s Country Diner. They also pay tribute to someone that has passed away in country music or a legendary comedian that is no longer with us. You get the tribute, a special dinner guest, and tons of laughs with each show.

If you have the rural TV station that goes by the name RFD TV; you should try to see when this comes on in your area and check it out one evening. I know on Dish Network it is located on channel 231 and Larry’s Country Diner comes on around 6 PM EST. I’m not sure about those of you that have Direct TV or watch RFD-TV through your cable provider.

The first time I ever watched this show was a few weeks back; when they had a comedian as a guest on the show. His name was McGregor or something like that. He is an overweight comedian and a lot of his material is surrounded by his weight problems. I hope Larry and the gang will bring him back for a future epiosode and I get the chance to hear more of his jokes. He really cracked me up about his fear of flying, but he likes to do it a couple of times each year, so he can catch up on his “drinking” and his “praying”. He also compares his car hitting a deer on the road; to the birds that brought down the airplane in the Hudson River. He says if a deer hits his car, guess who wins? Now what brought down that big airplane back in 2009? It was birds! It was really funny to hear him tell this story and I’m sure you can catch him on a rerun or another airing of this specific show.

Let me know if you watch Larry’s Country Diner and which episode you liked best. I have only seen about 3 or 4 different ones so far, but look forward to watching more of them.

Hey Larry? If you’re reading my blog post right now about the Diner; then please say hi to “Blogger Chris” on the air and I will be sure to blog a lot more about your TV show on my other blogs. Keep up the work Larry and I can’t wait to see what new strings the Sheriff plays and hearing the church jokes by that lady that always visits on each episode. (by the way… the previous sentence was NOT meant to say “keep up the good work Larry“, I really meant to say “keep up the work Larry“, because I want to see you helping those waitresses out) See I’m only 37 years-old and I do get Larry’s Country Diner!

  • Susan Boyle – Living the Dream

    Susan Boyle

Things often don’t come to us easy in life and this has been true for most of Susan Boyle’s life. Her birthday is on April 1st or better known as April Fools Day, but the April Fools joke was on Simon Cowell and his cronies when they were judging a competition in Great Britain earlier this year. Britain’s Got Talent was the name of the show and when Susan made her appearance, it was the typical Simon being Simon with his harsh remarks and looks that have made him popular over at American Idol. This will be the point Simon will later look back on his life and see where the down hill spiral started. Simon’s popularity has grown over the years, but in 2009 he has hit the height of this career. This was just the start for Susan’s though. As the crowd was laughing and seeing this strange looking woman on stage, they would soon change their opinions as a angel came into their ears. That angel was the voice of Susan Boyle and it didn’t take the audience long to stand up and start giving her cheers and applause as Susan was singing the song from Les Miserables called I Dreamed a Dream.

From this point on Susan Boyle has been an Internet sensation and now has a new album out called I Dreamed a Dream; which was released in late November. Her fame and riches are only beginning for this 48 year old woman from the UK. If you look at Simon Cowell’s career it will be ending soon. He has run his course in life and no one wants to see him anymore. After his cruel intentions toward Susan Boyle and the things he did toward this poor woman, no one should ever give this man nothing again. I will be banning American Idol until they replace Simon Cowell as one of the judges. Simon is now just a leach trying to hold on to Susan’s new found fame as he has kept in close contact with the rising singing star. Hopefully Susan will get a chance to see soon that Simon is just using her and she should stay away from him. I wish Susan Boyle all the luck in the world, but I won’t be buying any of her material, until she pays Simon back for the things he has done to her and so many other people who have tried to make it big in the music business. Cheers Susan Boyle!

  • What Were They Thinking?

PGA Golfer Tiger Woods & Wife

It’s been a very interesting year in the sports world. There have been a few things I saw in 2009 that just made me think “what was they thinking?”. The list is really long and I won’t name everything that made us raise our eyebrows in the 2009 world of sports. I mean what was the PGA golfers thinking when they voted Tiger Woods as the Player of the Year? This was something that came after his car wreck, drug use, spousal abuse (which he received), and the extra women he was teeing up on the side from his beautiful wife. Clearly it would seem Tiger Woods would be the winner in 2009 for making the stupidest and most dumb mistakes possible. This great golfer went from big time hero to a complete zero and most think he’s done as a golfer and will never win another PGA tournament.

Get Ya Popcorn Ready - Terrell Owens

Why did the Dallas Cowboys decide to part ways with Terrell Owens? What was this great and talented NFL team thinking when they let one of the best wide receivers in football just walk away? America’s Team is now a very average football team and they have 5 losses on the season and will probably lose another one when they face the unbeaten New Orleans Saints on Saturday. It didn’t make much sense to see Terrell Owens going to Buffalo either and you could also ask what was he thinking by choosing Buffalo as his next NFL team.

    New England Patriots Coach

Also in the NFL you can ask the New England Patriots what are they thinking by not throwing the football to Randy Moss? Quarterback Tom Brady isn’t as good as he’s hyped up to be and Randy Moss is the best weapon that team has ever had. Don’t believe the guys on TV and get caught up in the great legacy of Tom Brady. He’s been lucky to play with a great group of guys and now he plays with the best weapon in the NFL and they don’t throw him the ball.

    Hedo Turkoglu

The sports team that made the worse mistake in sports in 2009 and no one is talking about this is the Orlando Magic. It was just 1 year ago when the Orlando Magic advanced in the Eastern Conference Playoffs to meet Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. One of the main pieces on that Orlando basketball team was Hedo Turkoglu and the Magic franchise threw him away like yesterday’s leftovers and went for a more athletic player in Vince Carter. I’m not knocking the talents of Vince Carter, but Turkoglu was the perfect guy for that Orlando attack in the half court offense. Everything slows down in the NBA Playoffs and Hedo Turkoglu is a good post season weapon and the Magic should have kept him and Dwight Howard together. They say if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. The Orlando Magic did lose in the 2009 NBA Finals to the Lakers, so perhaps they considered their team as broken? What was the Orlando Magic thinking to get rid of Hedo Turkoglu? Maybe it’s a little too early for me to be giving the Orlando Magic a hard time. They were predicted to win the Eastern Conference this year and currently they are 4th looking up at the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. If things stay this way, the Magic might have to defeat 2 of the 3 teams ahead of them now, if they plan to go back to the NBA Finals. I just don’t see this happening at this point in the season.

    Falcons Mike Vick

If I had to give a 2nd place award in these sports blunders, I might have to go to a team that made their mistake a long time ago, but seen it come full-circle in 2009. The Atlanta Falcons made a horrible decision in cutting ties with the talented Michael Vick. He was one of the most dynamic players the NFL has ever seen and the Falcons did not support him or stand behind him; when things got rough for Mr. Vick. In their desire to keep a team full of “good boys“, they lost out on the production that Vick is giving to the Philadelphia Eagles right now. Michael Vick has did a great job in limited playing time this year and guess which team he would score his first NFL touchdown on, since coming back to the NFL? Yep, it was the Atlanta Falcons and Vick’s Eagles showed them up bad at home in the Georgia Dome. Vick not only rushed for a touchdown, but he also threw for one too, as the Eagles ran up the score on the Atlanta Falcons in their own building. What was the Atlanta Falcons thinking not to support Vick and distance their self as far away as possible? Perhaps the Atlanta Falcons learned from their mistake with Vick as they let Jonathan Babineaux play last Sunday and he was pulled over just 3 days earlier with 3 bags of marijuana in his sports utility vehicle. I guess owner Arthur Blank is a animal lover and supports players who smoke pot? Mr. Blank and the Dirty Birds have lost 7 games this year and Vick’s Eagles have only lost 4 games and look bound for the playoffs this year.

Did something in the sports world happen in 2009 and it left you scratching your head? Please let me know which players, coaches, teams, or their owners did something really dumb this past year. I want to see if we can form a list of blunders and examine which sports team made the poorest decision of all. I’m sure you can think of more than one thing, so feel free to list more than 1 sports blunder and we will see if we can help this sports organization recover from their bad decisions. I have the Orlando Magic and Hedo Turkoglu as the top sports blunder in 2009 and give the 2nd place award to Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons. I look forward to reading your replies and suggestions to this topic in sports and the question every sports fan wants to know. What was they thinking?

  • 2009 Heisman Trophy Winner

A winner has been announced and we now know who the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner is. It was good news for the South and it’s nice to see the national media outlets recognized our tremendous talent we have down here. Or maybe this is more of a slap in the face and they didn’t make the right choice? This year’s winner of the Heisman Trophy was Mark Ingram from Alabama. He is a great running back and compiled a ton of stats; while playing against good football teams every Saturday. This isn’t the case for the running back from Stanford who finished in 2nd place in the voting by a very slim margin. Toby Gerhartdidn’t match up against the talent Ingram did. Gerhart was playing against much weaker teams in the Pac 10 and he would have never got those numbers against the SEC or ACC teams in college football. Toby Gerhart was just 28 points shy of winning the Heisman Trophy and this is scary.

Another thing that is scary is to see how the rest of the elite college football players placed on the Heisman list. After Ingram and Gerhart from Stanford, we saw Texas quarterback Colt McCoy in 3rd place, the 4th place finisher was Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska and the Florida Gators quarterbackTim Tebowfinished 5th in the Heisman voting. Did these voters ever here of a team from the ACC called Clemson? They should have probably watched some of the Clemson Tigers football games this year and they would have seen the best football player in the country. If there is a better player than C.J. Spiller; then I would love to see this athlete. Spiller has speed, moves, and more speed. He is clearly the best running back in college football and it’s very surprising that the winner would be another running back that plays the same position as Spiller.

The defensive player from Nebraska looks like a top overall draft pick for the NFL someday. I could have understood if a player playing a different position won the Heisman Trophy over C.J. Spiller. It’s the fact they gave another running back a higher placement than Spiller that is shocking. It gets even more shocking to see the Stanford tailback get more votes than C.J. Spiller too.

Ingram from Alabama got 1,542 yards for the season. This was more yards than Spiller’s 1,145, but Ingram had 48 more carries than Spiller and Spiller played hurt a lot. Spiller did have 445 yards in receiving and Ingram caught 3 less balls for a total of 322 yards. Ingram had 3 more touchdowns than Spiller, but Mark Ingram is playing for the number 1 team in the land, so you would expect him to have more touchdown opportunities. I have seen both of these great backs play and I’m not knocking Mark Ingram at all. Ingram is a fantastic running back, but the running back from Clemson is an amazing back and will be an elite NFL running back on the next level.

The reason Nebraska’s guy got up there in the Heisman voting is due to Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreet influencing the TV audience as they always do. These guys are so bias and can’t stand Southern teams and they purposely talk up players and teams, so they can make them appear better than the teams and players from the ACC and SEC. In their hate for the South, they actually caused Toby Gerhart to lose the Heisman Trophy this year. If they would have kept their mouth shut in the Texas and Nebraska game they did in prime time and wouldn’t have talked Nebraska’s star defensive linemen up, those votes would have went Stanford’s way and Kirk’s beloved Pac 10 would be the holders of the trophy this year. The Pac 10, Toby Gerhart, and the Stanford Cardinal football team can thank Kirk Herbstreet and Brent Musberger for their guy not winning the 2009 Heisman Trophy.

Congratulations to Mark Ingram and the Alabama Crimson Tide football team for your achievements in college football this year. We know that you’re already the champions in college football by beating the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship Game. We also know that the Texas Longhorns don’t deserve to be in the BCS Title Game. Make us all happy and put these guys away and let’s show up another over ranked team that ESPN, Kirk Herbstreet, and Brent Musberger has helped to get there. Texas has zero chance of winning and probably a 90 percent chance of losing by 30+ points! Sorry college football fans, but there is no playoffs and this is probably due to the fact that the Southern teams would clean house against these over ranked teams that currently make up the top 10.

  • Living the good life

Beverly Hills is where a lot of wealth lives and thrives in Southern California. You might have heard of that famous Rodeo Drive that runs through the heart of Beverly Hills. It’s only about 3 blocks of the road that is filled with all the shops and stores that you hear about, but these 3 blocks is the highest price merchandise you will find anywhere else in the world. Only the very wealthy can afford to actually go in these stores and make purchases, but many tourists still find it a great place to just go site seeing.

The thought of going to a high profile event in Hollywood would be a great. You would have the chance to meet some of Hollywoods elite and of course your favorite movie star. The food and entertainment is always top of the line and Los Angeles catering companies like the Bashful Butler help to put on these glamorous events. I can imagine the large ice sculptures and beautifully appointed tables and rooms that make Hollywood parties what they are. Most people that live in this area probably have local get together that to most us would look like someones wedding. Thanks to the television show most of us know that 90210 is the zip code for Beverly Hills. I do think Beverly Hills has a couple of more zip codes in their area, but none are more famous than the 90210.

    Flash Forward Ends TV Season

It was a bit surprising to see Flash Forward on ABC end their season and in the fashion they did. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, Flash Forward did not come on last Thursday. After taking a week off, they did come back with a new episode. Now most episodes of Flash Forward go off with the audience wanting more. This is a typical pattern for one of the hottest new shows in the Fall line up this season. Their last show on December 3rd was good as usual, but left us with the usual cliff hangers. There was nothing special about Flash Forward when it went off Thursday night. The only shocker was that the show was ending for the season and will be back in March of 2010 with brand new episodes. This caught me off guard and I wasn’t expecting this.

I like Flash Forward and I have watched every show to this point in the series. It is lacking in substance and they give out very little information each week; while only bringing up new questions about what caused the black out. Everyone that watches FlashForward wants to know what caused the black out and this show is taking the long way home. I’m not sure my interest level will be that high; when March comes around in 2010. That is a long ways away and I think Flash Forward is making a huge mistake. They need to keep the show new each week; since they’re leaving so many mysteries on the table and answer very few of them each week. As a devoted fan of the show, I just don’t think I will watch reruns of this great new show that is on ABC. Since I won’t be tuning in for the repeats, I will forget about Flash Forward and I may have a new thing to watch on Thursday nights; when March of 2010 gets here. I could understand if they need a break or more time to create new episodes, but making us wait 3+ months for this is just asking too much (in my opinion).

Have you been keeping up with the Flash Forward series on ABC? Are you curious to see what causes the black outs to occur? Did it shock you to see that the show had ended for the 2009 season and won’t be back until March? If they knew the show on December 3rd was going to be the last one, they should have made more of an effort to leave us on the edge of our chairs. I think we got the usual cliff hanger ending and there wasn’t anything more special about this one; than the previous endings Flash Forward creators decided to use. I’m very disappointed and I’m not likely to tune in next March to see how this show explains the world wide blackout.

  • Tiger Woods Accident Drug Related?

Police did say Tiger Wood’s accident in Florida was a serious one. Later on we find out that the superstar golfer was not seriously injured in his car crash that took place two days ago at 2 AM in the morning. Golfer Tiger Woods was drifting in and out of consciousness and this would seem to be serious to me. Unless the authorities are already aware of a drug connection and the drugs were causing these effects on Tiger Woods. Since an attorney is involved, it would seem that Tiger Woods did have drugs in his system when he ran over a fire hydrant and then proceeded to hit a tree.

    Tiger Car Crash Drug Related

Busted lips are the injury reports the media is reporting right now. Police are scheduled to do an interview with Mr. Woods later today as they continue to investigate the Tiger Wood’s car crash. It seems obvious that drugs are related and Tiger does have his attorney involved already and it seems too early for an attorney this early in the investigation; unless Wood’s knows that he is facing a DUI charge of some sort. I look for this story to heat up over the coming days as the public and golf fans keep a close eye on this one. A lot of pressure and eyes are on the Florida law enforcement right now to see that celebrity status doesn’t play a part in determining Tiger Wood’s guilt or innocence.

  • Inspect your new home

Well I may have spoken too soon it seem as if the joist package in the house has more problems than I anticipated. I guess I should have hired a home inspector but that is something that I am quite capable of doing, its just that as I am older and not as flexible and healthy as I used to be I did not get under the house to see all the damage as I went on what I could feel beneath my feet when I walked thru the place. There was even discussion about a french drain installation because of some water that was pooling up around the foundation that could be a future problem. But I am still not angry that I didn’t do that because I still will have a good home for someone to live in and not much money involved. The housing market has really put a hurting on a lot of good people and there are bargains to be had is you do your homework, I had been looking at this property for 6 months and finally made a deal 0n it with right at $50000.00 less than what the asking price was. I will spend about 10,000 to get it in good shape and by the time the housing crunch is over I will be sitting pretty with free piece of property.
