The NFL decided to make two NFL teams happy in 2014 and awarded the Super Bowl bid for 2014 to the New York Jets and the New York Giants. It’s a bit tricky when you’re in this area of New Jersey. The actual stadium, which goes by the name New Meadowlands Stadium is located in New Jersey, but is right next door to the New York metropolitan area. Both NFL teams (Giants and Jets) share this new stadium for all of their home football games and they carry the New York name in their NFL city titles. If baseball fans think the subway series between the Mets and Yankees is something to see, you can only imagine the power a 2014 Super Bowl, that featured the NFC Giants and the AFC Jets would create. It would probably be impossible for the average person to get New Meadowlands Stadium Tickets, if the NY Giants and NY Jets did square off in the 2014 Super Bowl.

Some people have a knack for always being able to find those hard-to-get tickets. A lot of websites online can provide help to those that want to attend an event, which is said to be sold out. What makes the 2014 Super Bowl so special, is the fact its a cold climate stadium that will be hosting the event. This move to have a winter-weather Super Bowl, also leaves other northern cities in the running for a future Super Bowl. I’m sure people in Chicago would like to buy tickets to Super Bowl Sunday, instead of buying Chicago Theatre Tickets for that day. Does this new cold weather move suggest a hint that the NFL will expand into Canada too? We may have a Canadian NFL team competing in the 2014 NFL post season.

I guess since this Super Bowl is so far away and any NFL team could be playing in it, I will go ahead and lay down a prediction, that I will stick to 4 years from now. I will say the NFC will be represented by the Detroit Lions in the 2014 Super Bowl. I will predict their AFC opponents to be the Miami Dolphins. I have a feeling some warm weather team will be present in the New Meadowlands Stadium, so I will root for the Dolphins and Lions to play in this outdoor Super Bowl; which will take place on New Jersey soil in the New York area.

Gary Coleman Dead?

It appears to be true and the actor that once played Arnold Jackson on the TV series Different Strokes, is no longer with us. He had some sort of bleeding or hemorrhaging in the brain, that caused him to be put in the hospital on Wednesday. He would later slip into a coma and was put on life support. On Friday, the family decided to take the life support off of Gary Coleman and he later died. Gary Coleman was 42 years old and left us with some great laughs from his appearances on television.

I grew up watching Different Strokes and I really liked that show. I never had a big brother, so I wanted a big brother like Willis, who was played by Todd Bridges. I thought his sister Kimberly (Dana Plato) was hot and I wanted a girlfriend like her. Then you figure how rich Arnold’s family was and I thought that was a perfect situation for me. Years later, after the show ended, the story of Dana Plato who was Gary Coleman’s sister “Kimberly” had a tragic ending. She died of an accidental over dose and has been dead for awhile now. Things haven’t been going too well for the other childhood actors Arnold and Willis, but at least they was still alive. Well that isn’t true anymore, since little Arnold has passed away today at the age of 42.

Hearing this news today, makes me think of the day when Michael Jackson passed away. Gary Coleman was just as big as Michael Jackson and probably bigger in the early years of the 80′s decade. Coincidentally the last name of Arnold on Different Strokes was “Jackson”. Also, the actress that played Charlene (girlfriend to Willis), who played on several episodes, was the real life sister to Michael Jackson. Janet Jackson has created her own name in the entertainment world and isn’t just Michael’s sister anymore. Janet Jackson was Penny on the TV show Good Times and then later appeared as Charlene on Different Strokes. I wonder what is going through her mind today, after the shocking news her brother Michael was dead and now one of her co-stars on Different Strokes, has suddenly passed away at only 42 years of age. Today is a sad day for many and lots will be paying their respects for this very funny actor we know as Arnold from Different Strokes.

No longer are gold and silver credit cards the thing to have. In an effort to offer consumers a reason to switch credit card companies, banks are finding new ways to pimp their cards. One company is getting ready to launch a “scratch and sniff” card that will smell like coffee or one of as many 90 smells. A company that makes the plastic cards, has prototypes for prospective banks that will have the fuzzy feel of a tennis ball, or the feel of a football. If banks can get consumers to use their cards, it is a win for them., There are so many choices and most consumers only switch cards every 3-5 years.

American Express is looking to roll out a Titanium credit card for their Centurion customers. These are customers they charge in excess of $250,000 per year. It is all about the prestige and the recognition factor. Who wouldn’t want to pull out a card to pay for those new jeans that looks like a tennis ball. Many of them are now offering budget support in order to manage your total spend to stay within limits. This is probably one of the best ideas that has been implemented to actually help the customer manage their debt instead of helping them get more into debt.

If you love Eddie Murphy, then you’re most likely familiar with Trading Places. It’s vintage Eddie Murphy, not the garbage he has been involved in recently. He definitely made his best movies in the 80s. Why he changed course, I have no idea. But let’s focus on the positives. Trading Places is one of the funniest movies you will ever see. What’s also neat about it is that there’s also a suspenseful story unfolding, which you don’t get with most comedies.

Eddie Murphy plays a bum on the street. But when Mortimer and his partner in crime decide to make a $1 bet on whether or not they can turn a bum into a millionaire via a Wall Street firm, Murphy becomes rich and legendary. He’s through running away – or wheeling away – from the police, and he expects the highest of standards everywhere he goes. That said, he doesn’t lose his cool. He’s not stuck up, which makes him likeable.

Toward the end of the movie, when he goes to the bathroom, he overhears Mortimer discussing the $1 bet. This is when Murphy first becomes aware that he was used. Instead of saying something right there, he devises a plan. He steals the information on the orange juice report. When Mortimer is looking to corner the market, Murphy flips the switch on him. Mortimer goes broke and Murphy becomes rich for real. It’s a typical karma-based movie that you would find in the 80s, but it’s done very well. And if you have ever seen the movie Coming To America, there is one scene where Mortimer and his partner in crime are wrapped in a blanket on the street. Murphy throws them some cash and they claim they’re back. It’s all pretty funny.

If you want a good laugh and you enjoy Eddie Murphy at his best, Trading Places is highly recommended. I caught it one of the direct tv channels the other night and it was a great time.

The skies are all blue and the wind is blowing swiftly in many parts of the country right now. This makes me want to go out and buy a kite to fly. I’m not sure which stores offer the best deals on kites or would have a good selection to choose from. I just know these windy days make it perfect for flying a big, colorful kite in the sky.

The weather is changing and as we get rid of Old Man Winter and bring in the warm sunshine from spring, this causes a lot of wind to stir up. We often see the stronger winds in the fall time; when our weather goes from hot to cold. We don’t often think about flying kites in the spring time, but it’s really a good time right now.

Many people will refer to this time of the year as Blackberry Winter. Just when we thought summer was ready to begin; that last cold front moves through our area and sends a cold chill running through our bones. We have to turn the heat back up and add an extra blanket on the bed at night. This Blackberry Winter period is the time you will see the little white flowers start to bloom on the blackberry vines. The bees love these flowers and it’s an early food source for them in the spring. This cool air disturbs the air above and creates a lot of strong winds in most states. I can look out the window right now and see this would be a perfect day to fly a kite.

The biggest fish I ever caught was a catfish. I caught him in the Etowah River in North Georgia. My monster cat was nothing like the one seen in the picture. I doubt my big catfish would have weighed 10 pounds. I have seen and heard about monster catfish that can be caught in rivers and lakes.

What is the biggest catfish you ever caught? I would love to go on a night fishing trip and try to land one of these huge fish. They would be hard to land if they weighed 20 pounds or more. I know my biggest catch ever took me about 30 minutes to get him ashore. A monster cat that went closer to 100 pounds would probably be an all night battle.

You would have to start off with some really strong fishing line. I’m not sure what the strongest line is, but that’s the line I would use. A few big hooks and a lot of bait would also need to be in the tackle box. I would want to start fishing in the daylight, so I could plan out my strategy for landing a big catfish. I bet most fishermen have to take to the water, so they don’t lose a fish this big. I would need to see this during the daylight hours, so I would be prepared after dark to catch my monster cat.

I guess chicken liver that is really bloody would be the best bait choice. It seems that would draw the most attention from these big fish. Before you can land the big one, you might have to reel in a few small ones first. Once you get the fish swimming around and the smell of chicken liver and blood in the water, I think the bigger catfish would head your way. I believe it’s the amino acids that actually attract fish to your hook. I wonder if you can buy a bottle of pure amino acids to soak the chicken liver in first? That would probably be a good recipe for a catfish bait. Especially if you have dreams of landing a monster cat one night. I say “night” because most catfish are active during the night time hours. You can catch them during the day, but most fishermen seem to do better at night. Please feel free to share your big catfish stories and let me know what the biggest catfish you ever caught weighed.

To me, the scariest movies are not the ones where people are being chased by an axe-wielding maniac in the woods. I don’t find that realistic, so I don’t have to worry about it. The scariest movies are the ones that are based on realistic situations. And one of these movies is Arlington Road. It’s a movie about domestic terrorism and it’s very frightening. What’s unfortunate about this movie is that not many people know about it. On the other hand, this could be a good thing, because if someone hasn’t seen it and happens to read this, they will be in for a pleasant surprise. It’s definitely a movie that will have your nerves on edge. One of the freakiest scenes is when Jeff Bridges investigates Tim Robbins’ home office while at a barbeque. Tim Robbins catches him and you know things are about to get ugly, but not in a physical way – in more of a manipulative fashion. This makes it more frightening. A fist fight would end after a few minutes. A manipulative man involved in domestic terrorism doesn’t operate that way. He’s going for the kill.

I watched Arlington Road on one of the direct tv packages the other night and I was hooked from start to finish. The opening scene of this movie is by far one of the most powerful opening scenes I have ever seen. The same can be said for the closing scene of the movie. And everything in-between is a buildup of suspense. You can only hope that the bad guy will be stopped, but you also sense that the odds might be too far stacked against him. It’s not like most movies, where you know the good guy will win in the end. This is definitely different. I won’t give away the ending. You will have to see it for yourself.

With the fallen economy, I recently got laid off. Game 3 in Milwaukee was much different from the first 2 playoff games between the Hawks and Bucks. The first two games in this series was handled easily by the Atlanta Hawks. They were beginning to look like an NBA team ready to compete for the Eastern Conference championship. That was until they got on the plane and travel to Wisconsin to play a little B-Ball on the court up there.

It was a slaughter right from the start. The basketball team from the ATL had no chance in this bloodbath they were swimming in. The Bucks hit them hard and hit them often as they ran up the score. The swagger was all around, but no player on the court demonstrated that swagger better than Milwaukee’s rookie point guard Brandon Jennings. He knew right from the start how this game was going to end in Milwaukee Saturday night. Jennings started knocking down a few long jump shots from 3 land. After each shot made, he would get that swagger on. My first thoughts on the Brandon Jennings swagger was that he would regret showing up the Hawks team like that. I was expecting any minute for the Hawks to get it going, but that never was the case. The team from Atlanta coached by Mike Woodson never got his team fired up to play. Woodson simply said his guys didn’t come out with the energy needed to win and they wasn’t physical enough to match up with the intensity the Bucks came out of the locker room with. I find his comments after the game very amusing. If this was the case Mr. Woodson, why did you play your starters the majority of the game? If the guys on the floor are not bringing it (like they should), simply sit them on the bench and call in the next guy. Your lack of trust in your bench guys, is what keeps your team from moving up in the NBA ranks. The starting 5 for Atlanta knows they will be on the floor and they have no pressures to perform. Not letting the bench push the starters is what creates these huge blowouts in the playoffs; which the Hawks are now becoming known for. If they can win by double digits in the playoffs, they will give up and let their opponents win.

Joe Johnson and Mike Woodson both said comments after the game they will have to look at the tape to see what happened. This is the type of comments you would expect from losers and Joe Johnson and Mike Woodson might just be the biggest two losers in Atlanta basketball these days. I don’t have to look at the tape to see that the execution and game plan didn’t work. All Woodson has to do is get guys up off the bench to come in and let these starters ride the bench some. Coach Mike Woodson fails to see the logic in letting other team members play in the game; while the starters learn lessons and learn that each minute they are on the floor is a privlege and not a right. Play your best 5 and the wins will come! You don’t know who your best 5 are each night, until you get them in the game and let them run up and down the court a few times. The Hawks think they will just bounce back from this pounding. They fully expect to win all of their home games against the Bucks. This attitude is why the Hawks can’t perform up to their basketball abilities. It is time to panic and don’t tell me otherwise. Fear the deer is in full effect and the Hawks may not win another game against Milwaukee with the lack of direction and leadership these guys bring into a NBA playoff atmosphere.

LeBron Searches Scoreboard for Points

I find it very funny how ESPN and their broadcasters are already claiming LeBron James as the best basketball player ever. I mean seriously, they think this guy is actually the best player in the NBA now and asks their self nightly if he’s the best ever. Excuse me, but have you ever actually watched LeBron James play basketball? I mean before you go and say he’s the best, wouldn’t a consistent jumper from the outside be nice? What about the best basketball player making free throws? James has a difficult time at the stripe, when he’s just 15 foot from the rim and no defenders trying to block his shot. He seems to have trouble stringing together 5 to 8 free throw shots in a row. You know, like a player that could be in the discussion for best basketball player now or all time. Dow the stretch, his game gets weak in tight situations. He’s unreliable at the free throw line late in close ball games. He’s made a few highlight films where he’s scoring the last couple of hoops for the Cavs, but look at all the times he fails to deliver at the end.

LeBron drives his big linebacker body into the lane and  throws up shots that go in a lot. This is because guys try to prevent from fouling him, but the referees still bail him out. So when his shots around the rim don’t go in, we make excuses for him, because the ref blew the whistle and said he was foul. When the actual replays show that LeBron doesn’t perform as well around the rim as the guys from ESPN would have us to believe.

I couldn’t believe the ESPN crew of fans that were given the Cleveland Cavaliers the NBA championship this year, after their Game 1 win over the Chicago Bulls. Every team, with the exception of the Phoenix Suns, looked good against their Game 1 opponents, that had home court advantage. The Cavs are a number 1 seed, who was playing at home against an 8th seed, and the folks from ESPN took from that victory; that they couldn’t see how any NBA team could beat them. Now to steal a line from the guys at TBS, that’s funny “VERY FUNNY”.

I guess ESPN had to eat their words tonight and now whose the fool on the TV tube? The Chicago Bulls ran all over the Cavaliers tonight. Had the best player of all time in the NBA and his team down 21 points! Are you kidding me? The Cavs did make a nice comeback and gave their self a shot to win late, but surely that 3 pointer at the eleven second mark by King James, was not your evidence for this punk that has no respect for the game or his fellow NBA players that have the same job as him. LeBron James played like he had two, no wait, three left thumbs with his careless turnovers. I believe you can look at this game and make a case that LeBron was the reason why his team lost. He’s a ball hog and anytime he does something good, he runs around and celebrates. You can always tell the good athletes from the great ones. The really good ones know how to do the most spectacular plays and then act like they’ve did it before. The reason why; is because in most cases they really have.

This street punk, ball hogging crybaby from a local Ohio High School is not the game’s best player! If you want to ride the coat-tails on a player that tries to show off and has to back the ball back; while bent over (like he’s going to do something) 10 times a game; as your top player in the League. That’s fine with me! I just don’t see the best ever having a poor attitude and everyone can stop given King James credit for being a team player. I have heard about this special team player trait of his for a long time now. I hate to break it to you LBJ fans, but LeBron is NO TEAM PLAYER! A few NBA players, fans, and those bias ESPN broadcasters see LeBron pass the ball to a teammate and they call this being a team player. No, this is called playing basketball and the man gets no credit for passing the ball. Some believe LeBron could go down the floor and score almost every time, so if he is so kind to let one of his teammates score instead of him, he’s being a team player. Insert that TBS line here again. VERY FUNNY!

Don’t you guys see when LBJ has a bad game? The games where he struggles with his shot and the ball just isn’t going down for him? I have seen this and the Cavs be in complete control of the game. A good team player would be high fiving his teammates and happy they are winning a game that he’s struggling in. LeBron doesn’t do this and he just complains, keeps that mad look on his face, and after the game, it’s a me, me, me, type of interview. He’s not happy when his team wins and he plays poorly. He must do well first (win, lose, or draw) for him to get that swagger. As long as his shot is going in and he’s the star, then a game his team loses doesn’t matter. Passing a basketball to a few of your teammates that are wide open, is something that professional basketball players should always do. Instead, the guys from ESPN try to spin this into LBJ being a great team player. This has corrupted the minds of other NBA players and fans across the country.

If you want to see who the best player or players are in the NBA. You can’t go out and root for it to happen. You have to sit back and let it develop in front of you. Ray Allen from the Boston Celtics has performed about 3 speeds higher than LeBron James over the past couple of years in the playoffs and this year included. Josh Smith from the Atlanta Hawks has more high voltage plays in the air with his dunks and block shots; than the 9 volt battery of electrical current James gives with his dunks and block shots. If NBA fans, players, coaches, and broadcasters would sit back and ignore the hype. They could see how two guys like Josh Smith and Ray Allen are better than the punk up in Cleveland. And keep in mind, I’m given examples of lower tier players that perform better than LeBron. If we go to scoring champ Kevin Durant or the Black Mamba Kobe Bryant, we would just be naming more NBA players that are better than LeBron James currently is. He’s no MVP and it’s pitiful how this circus gets created around him; only to see an 8th seeded playoff team like the Chicago Bulls that has a 2nd year player (who left college early) to beat the over rated King James of the National Basketball Association.

Tonight will be the first time Alyssa Milano has been on TV since her days with Charmed and My Name is Earl. Her new show is called Romantically Challenged. I think the show is worth watching with Milano appearing in it, but the writers of this new ABC show should make things interesting too. It just so happens the same writers that brought us Politically Correct and Family Guy are the same cast of goofballs that will be writing the script to Romantically Challenged each week.

Do you plan to watch the new ABC show Romantically Challenged? The story-line revolves around a group of friends that are fine when they’re together, but once they are away from each other, they don’t cope with life’s daily activities as well. Alyssa Milano will play a mother, who has a 15 year-old son in this new ABC comedy.

The first airing will be on Monday, April 19th. For those living on the east coast, can watch Alyssa Milano’s new TV series at 9:30 p.m., which will follow Dancing with the Stars on ABC. The new show only lasts 30 minutes, so it should be interesting to see how much comedy they can pack in this 30 minute sitcom.

Just outside the heartbeat of New York City is Queens, NY. One of the areas in New York that is a short drive from any of the more well-known NY attractions, but Queens still provides neighborhoods that would meet any families criteria. A lot of the 5 crime families present in New York today left a bad reputation in the minds of NY residents and those that watched it unfold in Hollywood movies. The Gambino family has been one that has left a crooked past behind, but we don’t ever get to see all of the positive things a crime family sometimes leave behind. John Gotti was the last known crime boss many Americans know as being the head of the Gambino family in New York. Gotti who passed away in jail many years ago, still can be credited for developing a place like Queens, NY into the great neighborhoods it offers today.

One of the big moving companies NYC could help a family today with a move to one of these beautiful neighborhoods in Queens. It’s idea for small and large families alike, that seek to be near the big city and still far enough to leave some of the noise and bright lights of NYC in their rear view mirrors. Queens is full of good neighborhoods that have a very low crime rate; when comparing to some of the other areas located around NYC. A lot of the Italians and Italian-Americans would still see this as part of the Gotti legacy, in which him and the Gambino family help to create and leave behind for their own families to grow up and work in today. I would probably rank Queens as my top choice for a new area to move to in the New York metropolitan area.

How does your favorite NBA Team look right now? Are they playoff bound this weekend? Or are they headed to the draft board to see how high they can finish in the NBA Draft Lottery? I know this lottery to determine the top selections in this summer’s NBA Draft for teams who not in the post season, will be televised during one of the later playoff games at halftime. At least this has been the pattern for the last several years. It probably helps to draw-in a bigger audience, since you have two NBA team’s fans watching this basketball lottery and their team obviously is not in it. Teams do trade draft picks in the NBA and some playoff teams could own another team’s lottery ball and get a chance in the lottery. I have spent a lot of years watching those lottery balls (even though the actual lottery is not shown live or even on TV for that manner). I’m glad this is a playoff year for us, just like I was last year, and the year before that too. Making the playoffs 3 straight years in a row is something we are proud of and gives us something to hang our hat on.

Now the electricity in the NBA Arenas for playoff basketball is unreal. Everything slows down in the playoffs and each possession is so important for each team. You know your competition has some game or they wouldn’t be matched up against you in the NBA post season. A team turning the ball over and wasting these valuable possessions; may not have lasting memories of the 2010 NBA Playoffs. A champion has to start somewhere and for me, I hope its my NBA team that starts that path this weekend. First goal all NBA playoff teams have is to win Game 1. You got to find a way to get the first punch in and it gets so much easier with each additional win.

My local NBA team; which is my favorite NBA team does have all the pieces to win the Championship. They just haven’t figured out how to play team basketball and winning all the small battles that take place within a NBA game. They are coached to win games in the 4th quarter and winning the game is all they strive for. True champions don’t get made this way. It’s a effort that starts from day 1 or from the previous seasons. Winning that next game is not important. In fact, it’s the last thing in the world you should worry about. Learning to play a style of championship basketball takes practice, hard work, and never taking your foot off of the gas pedal. I mean never! When you do stop to take a break or decide your going to take this night off. There is someone out there that didn’t rest that night. This person just gained ground on you or if they were already pass you, then they just went ahead further. My NBA team has been horrible for a decade and in all of these years to build it up, they had a chance to create this winning formula. The current coach had his chance to mold the most talented team in the league and he has failed to do it. His lack of vision to see beyond the next game on the schedule and deciding to pre award players with minutes on a nightly basis is the reason we will not win the championship this year.

I know my team will lose in the 2010 basketball playoffs. Maybe they can make it to the Conference Championship Game or perhaps even to the NBA Finals, but at some point they will fall. They’re not mentally strong on the court. Something goes wrong for most of them, they get upset and complain. They begin to pout and the frustrations just keep building. What makes it even worse, the coach is right beside them and he will complain and starting pouting just like the players. But what could you expect from a coach that gives evil looks and pouts when his own players mess up on the court. He never has tried to be a motivator in a losing effort. He just saves the motivational speeches and pep talks for close games and the ones they win. He won’t even stand up on the sidelines, if the score is too far in favor of the opponent. He’s only after winning that game he sees today. He refuses to use the time now to prepare for the games of tomorrow and this is the reason why my NBA team has no hope for tomorrow.
