Creating a Simple Life

Simple things are worth blogging about

Archive for the ‘Education’ Category

Our 12th grade year in high school is the last formal education most people will ever get in life. While there are a certain percentage each year that will go to the college level, the majority of students end their education after high school. We should continue to educate ourselves all through life. You never know what piece of information you will learn in life; which can lead to a good job or a promising career. Most of us do have a passion for a few hobbies, but never take them past the weekend levels.

If you will strive to learn more about your weekend activities or the hobbies you have an interest in, you will see there is a world of paying jobs out there for the things we like to do. There are too many people stuck in jobs or a daily routine in life, in which they do not enjoy. A lot of these people are jealous of those who get to earn money for doing the things they love to do in life. You can be one of those who enjoys what you do for a living. It’s all about education and taking the steps to prepare yourself properly, so you will be ready when a job does present itself to you. We never know what the future holds and can only prepare for a uncertain future. Don’t let your education end at the 12th grade level in high school. There is so many other worlds that exist out there for all of us and we can only take advantage of these worlds, if we prepare our self with the proper tools and education.

Don’t be afraid to choose a path in life and then decide you want to make a change later on. Do as much as you can to learn as many different fields in life that interest you, so you will be given yourself the most odds down the road, for finding a career that pays well and you enjoy doing. Only the people who make sacrifices at a young age and never strive to accept changes, are the ones who tend to find their selves stuck in a job or industry in which they do not enjoy. Life is fully of joys, if you just know how to grab them along the way. It all starts with educational and training programs. You can adapt as you move further along in each industry or field you think would be right for you. We only get one life to live, so make the best of yours today!

  • The Vitamin C Education Continues

Our knowledge on vitamins get a little bit better each year. We hear about new vitamins helping to prevent or maintain new things in the human body. One of our most important vitamins, on the periodic chart of vitamins, is Vitamin C. A lot of different fruits contain high amounts of the C vitamin. If you’re lacking Vitamin C, you can drink a big glass of orange juice and this will give you a nice dose. It may not always be easy to get vitamins in the foods we eat each day. If your diet is lacking in vitamins, be sure to still find help for the C one. Everyone can get their own little supply of vitamin c serum, so they can help their body levels stay high with this very important vitamin.

Educating our kids about the importance of Vitamin C is a good thing. Let the young ones know, if we get a cold or flu, we can take large doses of the C vitamin for help. This is like giving bullets to the army of good cells in the body; which are fighting our flu and cold armies. The battle can be won quickly, if we keep our body’s natural defense shield filled with Vitamin C. Be sure to get all of your vitamins today and go drink a nice big glass of Florida orange juice, to help with your daily need for Vitamin C. Please don’t forget about the cold days in winter time. We need this vitamin more than ever; when our chances for a cold increases during the winter season.

  • Nice Beauty School Campuses

Your next job or degree is all up to you. You have your life in the palm of your hands and you can choose to do or be anything you want to. How exciting does that sound? How does taking free trips on a cruise ship sound? I thought that would get your attention. Not only are these trips free, but they would actually be paying you to make them! Now how does that sound?

The reason I say this, the Regency Beauty Institute has partner relationships, where they place their graduates into working jobs in the field. They have a lot of salons they hook their students up with and there are a few that are located on cruise ships. Your beauty school degree could take you all over the World (literally); while you practiced your craft on these huge floating ships that travel all over the globe.

The president and CEO of these Regency Beauty schools, which are located in 19 states, said their campuses mirror a big, fancy upscale salon and provide a great service to the community; while students work on the degrees in cosmetology. Most communities would be happy to get a Regency Beauty Institute into their local area, since these schools provide a valuable service to the community. Residents can take advantage of discounted salon rates; when they allow these students to work on them. All students are under the close watch and supervision of professionals; while these students practice their craft on you. A great idea and I know in my hometown of Canton, in Cherokee County Georgia; we would love to have a beauty school like this in our area. A lot of elderly women would certainly take advantage of these discounted salon rates in my North Georgia city.

  • A higher learning is what we all should strive for. It’s never too late to go back to school and get a degree in something. If you already have an educational degree in one field, you can go for another degree in a 2nd field. Many out there have seen, just how many more opportunities they have, when they obtain a 2nd degree they can rely on.

A school like Walden University would be the type of school that is right for me. Perhaps you can determine which schools meet your needs the most and see if Walden University might be right for you too.

I stay up-dated with current events and I know a lot about today’s job markets. You can often find these stories in The Chronicle and they feature a lot of stories about jobs and what types of education will be needed for the future.  Education is where everything starts and ends today. This is very true for jobs. All of the unemployed workers right now could testify to it. A college degree or some other degree after the high school years, is recommended for everyone in the 21st century.

  • How Doctors Find Jobs

Once doctors have completed their medical training, they need an office or a place they can practice medicine. Over in the United Kingdom, these doctors can turn to Oxford Medical for help. Here is where a doctor can learn important skills and pick up on some tips on how to have a better consultant interview. Before they go to their first interview, they can learn what to say and what not to say. Also, learn about the different things they should be up-to-date on in the medical world.

Classes that teach the teacher are very important for anyone who wants to stick out from the competition. Often there is more than one person going through the interview process. The person who always gets selected for the job, are the ones who stand out or show something different from the other job candidates. You will be able to achieve this with the skills you learn at Oxford Medical. They offer medical management courses for those who enroll in their valuable services they provide for doctors.

Do you currently study medicine in England now? UK students who seek a job in the medical profession, will want to learn more about a consultant interview course, so they can be more prepared in their job interviews. One of the most important things Oxford Medical can teach you is confidence. It’s a lot different going in for an interview when you have that confidence factor on your side. Being a more confident person means you will be more relaxed too and this is also important for these medical job interviews. You have already completed the hard medical courses; now take the final course to insure your last step is a fruitful one.

If your ready right now to connect your child to the online tutoring services of Tutorvista, please feel free to do so. All students who are in the Kindergarten level, Grades 1 -12, or currently taking college-level classes; then there are online tutors who will be there and ready to help each one of you get better grades than you previously were getting.

I’m really glad we have these home computers like we have now. I have been able to help both of my nephews with their 9th grade and senior year of homework; which both of them have troubles with. Most of the problems are in math, “so boys let’s tackle a few of these first and either try to learn it or get it over with”, often it could be a simple statement like this from me, that would put a smile on their face and relax them, for the job that was in front of all 3 of us. I had no problems with simple math equations, like how to find Diameter of circle? I could remember the fact I needed the proper math equation or a list of Algebraic expressions, so I could match the proper equation with a math task; like trying to determine what the circumference of a circle is or my original example of the diameter for this same circle. It’s been a long time since my high school days and there are no equations in which I can remember from memory alone. I was having to get on the computer and was looking and digging this stuff up, just as hard, if not harder than anyone else that evening, who may have been in search of the same formula or mathematical equation for determining the diameter of a circle.

Now I have always been able to remember the value of a math unit; which goes by the name “pi” (sounds like the same “pie” you would eat, when pronouncing it). This pi (without the”e“) equates to 3.14 and officially there are some other numbers after the “4″ in the pi value, but remembering the 3.14 is needed to solve  math problems, where the pi unit was needed. I didn’t remember using pi for any specific math problems. So once again and at the age of 37, I had to figure out; how to come up with a circle’s diameter and I did have to apply the pi value of 3.14 to come up with the correct final answer. If I didn’t have access to a computer or the Internet, I would have never in a million years remembered which equation and steps I needed to follow for solving a pretty easy and basic math question for the most part.

Now I also got challenged with my geometry skills and I have forgotten most of these things too. Working with the triangles was always something easy for most students in high school. I can remember the Equilateral, Isosceles, and Scalene triangles. This trio of triangles were in a special grouping, based on their length and how many sides were equal or not equal. Most of this knowledge on triangles I had forgotten about, so I’ve had to use the computer to help me learn more about the grouping of triangles, that get determined with special names and it all depends on the angle of the triangle; which will determine it’s correct geometrical name like an Acute triangle for example. Once you go through and determine the angles, you will have 4 different choices of names to hand out in this special grouping of triangles. I mentioned the Acute triangle is one already; the other 3 triangles are called Equiangular, Obtuse, and the Right triangle.

Once you leave school or graduate and you don’t continue to do some of these things in math. You will look back on it one day and find yourself in my shoes, with everything just being a big blur. If one of your children or just a child in general, was to bring home their homework about a Line segment in dealing with triangles and how you could classify 7 different triangles with seven different names. How many could you name off the top of your head? How much help could you assist them with? I’m sure for the majority of adults, who want to lend a hand to a student having troubles, they would need to implement a style and teaching method that would work for parent and child.

Albert Einstein math genius; when they come and want you to work out a few math Indices or sit down and properly work a Square footage calculator.

Good News – Online Math Tutors Do Exist!

I really think its important for parents to work and help with the child’s studies, they bring home from school. Even after a parent decides to hire an online tutor, the educational partnership should continue, because Mom and Dad really are there to help 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

For all of the parents out there, who seek some outside help, because it’s just too hard to help or you don’t have the time and energy due to working a full time job; then there is a superior online tutoring service you can connect withand they will assist your precious student 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This is a real simple tutoring program to get set up and working on your end of the Internet World. You can pay a flat fee of $99.99 per month and this amount allows your child to his/her online tutor as much as they want and they will have the ability to use them for all of the school subjects and not just math!

TutorVista is a professional online service in which professionals carry out these daily academic lessons or answer weekly questions your child may be asking. These online tutors from Tutor Vista will be around each day and will assist at any hour of the day and on any day of the week. TutorVista has been recognized for their outstanding commitment to students K – 12 and provides online tutors for college-age students too. It was the two big news agencies of NBC in America and the BBC News in the UK; who both shinned a light and publicly recognized all of the wonderful work from TutorVista Tutors. All of our children and school aged kids are going to be the future doctors, policemen, fire fighters, lawyers, and teachers of course (if not online tutors). Before any of them can look this far ahead, they are going to need a strong and supportive educational family. If you have already paid for the first month’s service; then technically you are no longer needed and the tutors online will carry it home from here. I just wanted to repeat one more time; that even though the TutorVista  teaching profesionals are so good and have everything under control. I would still like to encourage these parents, guardians, or a grandparent or one of the extended members of the family like an Aunt, Uncle, or a long time neighbor or friend; who could take this educational journey with the student.  Strangers helping strangers online is fantastic, but other things can start to materialize in positive ways; when it’s kin folks sharing in an achievement or personal goal.

  • Ooops! I knew something just didn’t seem right…

A nightmare for any roadside crew is to misspell a word on any street or road sign. When the mistake happens in a school zone, the issue becomes a whole new ball game and everyone has to put their 2 cents in. In the picture above, you may notice a redish-brick structure at the very top of the photograph. That is a North Carolina public school; which is trying to educate students and be a place for higher learning in this city, county, state, and in our country we know as America. Not very far in front of the school, a crew of workers were hired to zone off an area of the road in white paint. A couple of horizontal stripes, a vertical stripe, and the word “school” in block letters were the instructions.

Well the Carolina sun must have been pretty hot on this particular afternoon; when the private contracting company put their men to work on this school zone project. It seems a huge error got made and instead of spelling the word “school“, this crew spelled “S-H-C-O-O-L” for everyone in this school district to see. Maybe only a few observant adults would notice the mistake and the kids wouldn’t catch this NC school spelling blunder? Perhaps a bit of wishful thinking, but that wasn’t how this story would play out. Who knows who the first person in N.C. was to notice the school road spelling mistake, but it didn’t take long for the kids to catch on and pass this around, to all of their friends on Twitter, MySpace, FaceBook, text messages, cell phone calls, and a few emails.

The positive thing from this mistake, is young students talking about education and at least getting school on their minds. Even if it is at the expense of a person’s shameful mistake. Notice in the picture above, the boy in the blue shirt has a message written out behind him on a yellow sign. We can only see the first part of the message; which says “Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it“. This is exactly how this North Carolina spelling error is playing out and Yahoo users have already left well over 4,000 comments related to this spelling error story. A lot of finger pointing going on and not many willing to just chalk this one up as a mistake.

While Yahoo has the story front and center on their homepage, this story is spreading just as fast on the World Wide Web as it is through the North Carolina school yards with smiling and giggling children of all ages, races, and backgrounds. No matter your age or race, you can see the humor in this story or most people should be able to. Others are coming up with their own conclusions and probably reading much deeper into this school road mistake; than really needs to be.

Yahoo Users have left no stone unturned and after reading through a few hundred of the comments, I can see just how sad things can be at times. I have seen several comments related to political views and how President Obama, Democrats, or the Republican party is to blame for one person’s spelling mistake in North Carolina. Others point the finger toward Mexico and say how an illegal immigrant is probably responsible for one person’s spelling mistake in North Carolina. Since North Carolina is a southern state, there was no shortage of redneck jokes or how some backwoods southern hick from North Carolina was the person responsible for one person’s spelling mistake in North Carolina.

Women were probably the only group of people in the whole entire world who was spared from being blamed on one person’s spelling mistake in North Carolina. I’m sure this upset some female folks; that no one is assuming a woman did this spelling error. Nothing wrong to assume a man made this mistake. Since mostly men work and apply for these types of road crew jobs. No woman should be offended that women was left out of the debate at Yahoo; well at least they were spared until this blogger threw their name into the mix of name-calling online. I believe the big picture and small picture all boils down to one thing. THIS WAS ONLY ONE PERSON’S SPELLING MISTAKE IN NORTH CAROLINA!

Let’s also keep in mind that painting letters on a road is a lot different from typing or writing words out on a screen or piece of paper. Fast food workers who often make spelling mistakes on their big signs, are not always poor spellers. The school zone mistake in North Carolina is really not about spelling and how the education system in America is going down the drain. Displaying letters in this fashion on a road or a fast food sign is not a IQ thing, like so many Yahoo Users are trying to point out. It’s actually a job or a task of a different sorts and it’s about organizing the work, before you begin to display it. The fast food worker stacks his/her letters before they begin to put up a message on a fast food restaurant sign. If he or she stacks a letter in the wrong place, the outcome of the job could result in a spelling error, but in no ways suggests the person doesn’t know how to spell.

The person in North Carolina may or may not know how to spell the word school. Taking the letter “h” out of school, still sounds like it would say the same thing. So not a big reach to see how someone could misspell the word school. We don’t know if this person can spell school or not. What we do know, is their organizational skills failed on this hot summer afternoon in North Carolina and that’s the only thing we can be certain of. A simple excuse or good explanation could also erase this person’s organizational habits on this spelling blunder, so even the thing we are certain on, could also have a very understandable explanation.

Kids are laughing in North Carolina. The private contractors are having a good laugh back at the office. We on the Internet are speaking what’s on our minds. A simple 2 letter reversal in the word school, painted in white on some hot asphalt street in beautiful North Carolina, should be getting a lot more credit for the positive things it has brought out. Even though its mostly negative at Yahoo, at least we get to see into the minds of Americans and none of us are mind readers. People in power could use this story to help make positive changes. The education system in North Carolina has the most to gain, by taking full advantage of this world-wide attention and taking their levels of education to places where it has never been before.

  • When we get in these bad weather situations, we want to make sure we stock up on as many relief supplies as possible. A little extra fresh water, dry clothing, and some food; which will stay fresh for a long time, are just some of the things every person needs in their emergency supply kits. Keeping 2 or more flashlights on hand isn’t a bad idea either. Typically when bad storms blow up in a certain area, the electricity will go down. If your supply kit contains a flashlight; along with some extra batteries, you will be ahead of the game. Mother Nature can unleash her fury at any time, so its really important to always keep these kits nearby. If you have any extra flashlights on hand, be sure to carry them along with you too. Just in case your original flash light doesn’t work properly.

    Flashlights Under $2 Each

Here is a super sale for flashlights online at Buy.com. I would rather own 6 different flash lights; than to rely on just one flashlight for an emergency situation. Online shoppers can pick up all 6 flashlights online with one very low price. You would spend a lot of money, if you chose to buy all six of these separately. Now you can buy them in a package deal and have plenty of lights available, in case your lights do go out in the near future.

I know my household has 1 or 2 flashlights to use in case of an emergency. I just hope the batteries currently in them are operational and can be ones we can count on, if our electricity does decide to go out for an extended period of time.

I live in North Georgia and clearly remember the blizzard of 93′ in which a lot of people living up and down the Eastern Seaboard lost their power. My household was miserable during this time and it would take 2 weeks; until our power was fully restored.

What troubles and worries did you have during the 1993 blizzard; which crippled much of the East in the United States? Would a $2 flashlight have helped, if you did have one with brand new batteries in it? I know lighting was just one of the terrible things most of us had to endure, with this freaky, early 1990′s snow storm. A blizzard in the middle of March should be a wake up call to us all, that our climate is changing fast and we need to be prepared. I think we can start, by having a big supply of flashlights with batteries that work. Our tornado season is now officially gone, but now we have the hurricanes this fall to worry about.

  • The History of Jessie

The name Jessie has been around for awhile. One of the most famous Jessie’s I can think of going back into time is the famous outlaw Jessie James. Many can remember the James Gang and all of the bank robberies they had a part in. After all the shots fired in Jessie James direction and for all the men who desperately tried to hunt him down, his journey came to an end, when a young criminal inside the Jessie James network gunned him down from behind. At least that is what many believed happen; while some think this was just a decoy and Jessie James continued to live a life away from crime and punishment.

The next Jessie was a black American athlete who dominated the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Jessie Owens was so good at the track and field events, the leader of Germany Adolf Hitler turned his back on the American athlete; that no one could touch in the summer of 1936. You can’t have a history of Jessie without mentioning the accomplishments of Jessie Owens in Berlin, Germany.

It would take many years later until another Jessie made their mark in my memory of Jessies. It was a future Hollywood actor on the soap opera General Hospital, who first started out in the music industry. I am talking about Rick Springfield and his early 1980′s song Jessie’s Girl. While the video only showed a few quick shots of this beautiful girl named Jessie, who was the best friend of the singer Rick Springfield. I think a lot of guys could relate to this song and there has always been another guy who had a girlfriend; which we wished we would have found first. Just like Rick Springfield’s buddy Jessie, it’s been our best friend sometimes who has found a beautiful new girlfriend and makes us very jealous. Jessie’s Girl was a great song back then and many can still sing out a few lines to this popular song from the 80′s MTV generation.

It wasn’t just Rick Springfield who knew of a famous Jessie and many can remember Bo and Luke Duke always seeking the help of their Uncle Jessie from the Dukes of Hazard. The Dukes of Hazard was so popular in Mississippi during the early 1980′s, that they had to move their Friday night high school football games to Saturday night. No one in Mississippi was attending the high school football games, because they wanted to stay home and watch the Duke Boys run from the Hazard County law. Keep in mind this was before the VCR”s or during a time they were too expensive to afford for every family. No DVR or anything else to record the Dukes of Hazard on Friday nights in Mississippi, so this is why the high school football games got moved to Saturday nights. It was a very popular show and one of the main characters on the show was the white-bearded old man who drove the white Ford pick-up truck around the dirt roads of Hazard County. Yes, it was everyone’s favorite uncle, who we all knew as Uncle Jessie.

Before Barack Obama became the first black president, it was Jessie Jackson in the mid 1980′s who came very close to being our first black president in the United States. He gave a very powerful speech at the Democratic Party and most can still remember his speech; that almost landed him a chair in the Oval Office.

Before Arnold became the governor of California, another jock loaded with muscles became the governor of Minnesota. It was Jessie Ventura from the world of wrestling entertainment, who got enough votes to be the governor of a U.S. State. Most will agree that Jessie Ventura did a good job as governor and it wasn’t just a political stunt or circus. Ventura did a good job leading the folks of Minnesota into one of the top states in America today.

While all of these Jessie’s have been men through out history that come to my memory. There have been a few females with the name Jessie. Anyone who has ever seen the show Saved By the Bell will remember Elizabeth Berkley as Jessie Spano, the good friend to Zack Morris. Also, a lot of songs in the last 15 years or so, will use the name Jessie as a female character in a song. A 1990′s song I really like by Joshua Kadison is called Jessie and it’s a real nice song. You can go to YouTube and listen toJessie by Joshua Kadison and let me know your opinion of this Jessie song.

Do you know of any men or women by the name of Jessie that needs to be mentioned in the history of Jessie? Please put on your thinking caps and tell me the famous Jessie people you know about. I’m sure I have left out some really popular and famous Jessie names and would like to get them mentioned. Just leave a reply with your famous Jessie and we can see where they rank with some of the Jessie names I have already mentioned in this blog post. The topic is the history of Jessie and it’s important we list all of the key names. By any chance is your name Jessie? Did you read this blog post, because you share this same name? You can reply to say that you share this same name or just let me know which Jessie you were searching for and discovered their name here on the history of Jessie.

  • Diet Plans That Work Best

Starting a brand new diet is easy. Staying on any diet is hard. Most people who need to lose weight know this already. Regardless if you’re on a good diet or a bad one, a strict daily routine is required for any diet to work. The longer you can stay on a diet, the more chances you have for a successful weight loss. If you’re just about to start a new diet, try to keep your weight loss goals modest. Find simple goals, so you can achieve them early and this will help you to stay on a diet longer. The diets for quick weight loss are a good starting point. We can all work on our long-term goals later. As long as we see positive results daily, we can see how our current diet will help down the road. It’s a lot more difficult to stay on a diet, if you don’t see any weight loss in a 24 hour period. I believe all diet plans should show at least 1 pound of weight loss per day. At least this is true for those who are just starting out on a new diet plan. The longer you stay on a diet, the harder it may be to see daily weight loss. The diet plans that will ultimately work the best, are the ones you can do and stay true to, over a long period of time.

  • The Kids Summer Coming to an End

I know summer just started, but for all of the school kids out there, it is quickly coming to an end. Once the 4th of July holiday has passed us by, the summer just flies downhill. The summer isn’t like it use to be, when most kids could count on a full 3 months of summer vacation. In many parts of the country now, there are fewer than 12 weeks to a child’s summer vacation away from school.

I really feel bad for them and even as an adult, I hate to see the start of school. Many parents welcome the start of a new school year, because they have had to change up their routines with the little ones home now. Since I have no children, it really doesn’t apply to me and I root for the long summers, like most American children are doing right now.

As a parent, you can really salvage this summer break your kids are enjoying right now. If the yearly, summer vacation is over. If not, your kids still have that to look forward to. Getting them outside is a great way to take advantage of the summer days. No young people should be wasting these summer days inside by the computer or TV. I know there has been a few heat warnings in certain parts of the United States. So make sure the temperatures are not too hot outside and you keep a lot of cold beverages close by for the kids to stay hydrated. Safety for our children is always first and there will be plenty of time for summer fun later on. Even after school does start back, you still have some great weather on the weekends for some outside fun.

My family is nervously awaiting for the new school year to start. My twin 5 year old nephews will be starting their first day of public school and we look forward to seeing how they deal with their time at school. They are lucky to have each other and I’m sure it’s a much tougher situation for families; who will see their child off for the first time and headed to school. No need to concentrate on the new school year yet, we still have some summer left, so let the good times continue to roll. I hope your kids have a super time for this 2nd part of summer we are now in. Don’t forget to keep plenty of drinks nearby to quench those thirsty little mouths!

  • The Sixth Month Storm in the U.S.

Have you ever heard the phrase “The South’s Gonna Rise Again”? Perhaps it is true and who ever coined the phrase was talking about the floods rising from the rains; instead of the Civil War. A lot of U.S. States in the South will be paying close attention to the weather this year, since the BP Oil Spill is still a major issue. A lot of the United States is still in the tornado season and the first day of July showed Texas was already in the hurricane season. Hurricane Alex causing havoc in the Gulf of Mexico and dumping tons of rain on Northern Mexico and in Texas, appears to only be the midway point of a 6 month storm. What should residents do; that do call the Southern U.S. home?

From a financial standpoint, anyone living in the Midwest and Southeast States; who face a tornado season each spring, should look to protect their self from lightning. One bad lightning strike at your home could cause some major, if not fatal, damage to your HDTV, computer, and a cell phone you might have plugged in the wall for charging the battery. An inexpensive 8 outlet surge suppressor or protector could save you and your family thousands of dollars. I truly believe in these surge protectors. They are worth their weight in gold and you know how gold prices have been soaring off the charts lately. You should have your desktop computer, printer, monitor, fax machine, and all other computer accessories plugged-in to a surge protector. Don’t forget to protect the big screen TV too, because it costs way too much, for it to be lost to lightning.

Tornado season brings high winds and severe thunderstorms. The hurricane season is pretty much the same thing, but with a lot more flooding rain. Floods are the number 1 weather disaster that kills people each year. Humans can protect their electrical equipment well, with a surge protector on sale at Buy.com, but can’t do much self protection against lightning. You would think lightning bolts from the sky; which has a higher temperature than the surface of the Sun, would be more deadly. A flood is much more easier to defend against; when you compare it to lightning. Yet the numbers show floods take out more human life; than really all of the other weather and natural disasters combined.

Going to higher ground is the obvious advice for people trapped in a flood. The majority of deaths caused by floods is due to a lack of information from people that live in low-lying areas. For instance, someone going to bed at night and isn’t aware of the flooding conditions and gets swept away while sleeping. Or the driver on the road, who tries to drive through a gushing stream of water and lacks the information on the strength of the flow or that the road is washed away underneath. Turn around and don’t drown!

Most of us have completed the first couple of months from the sixth month storm (tornado season). Now we are looking at the next few months of this 6th month storm, due to the hurricanes that will be trying to find their way to the Gulf and Atlantic States. Hurricane Alex wasn’t even a direct hit in the U.S., but the flooding rains from Alex did impact a large chunk of Texas. A couple of tornadoes did spawn from Hurricane Alex. Not to mention the numerous lightning strikes; which probably killed a lot of electrical gadgets in the Lone Star State.

Best thing for all of us to do is stay informed with what’s going on out there. You come first, so protecting your health against Mother Nature’s fury is priority number one. Keep all of your expensive electrical equipment plugged-in to a outlet with surge protection. Avoid driving on the roads during severe storms and after heavy rains have fell. The 2010 sixth month storm will be watched more closely than all of the ones before it. We can thank the good folks from the British Petroleum company for that. Please stay safe and this story to be continued…

  • Online Help with Funeral Questions

For most of us, we don’t really think that much about death. We just accept the fact it will happen to us one day. My mother works at a funeral home, so I probably hear or think about it more than most people. However, over the last two weeks it has been on my mind more than normal. Some of my close friends that I have grew up with in my neighborhood, lost their grandmother 2 weeks ago. Then just this past Saturday, a friend of mine lost her husband while he was sleeping. I had just visited their house that Friday night, but never went inside to see her or her husband. In the early morning hours of Saturday at around 3 am, she could hear him snoring. She went back to sleep and when she woke up at 8 am, he had passed away. It’s amazing how some people are here, lively, and not a bit sick and can suddenly be gone. Human life is so fragile and we usually learn this when we lose a close loved one unexpectedly.

When it comes to funeral questions, I have my mom I can ask. Asking about funerals. and cremation, can be an uncomfortable situation.

You can find a  Funeral Agent to help in the planning phase.
