In real life, I never had any jobs that involved advertising or promoting a product or service. Telemarketing was about as close as I came to advertising; while working in the work force. Since 2005, I have became more involved with home-based businesses and affiliate programs, trying to earn a living that way. Over these past 5 years, I have learned a lot of new and creative ways to market a product or a service online. I can now appreciate TV commercials or other forms of advertising, when I see a talented marketer at work.

The first thing that comes to mind, when I think about girls and Christmas, would have to be Barbie. Most parents can’t go wrong with her and Barbie is a classic girls gift. Not only does this popular doll come in a number of varieties, but you have all the different Barbie accessories. I found one Barbie item selling online this year, that I think most girls would love to have. One more thing I like about the Barbie collection of girls items, is the Barbie make up kit for the younger girls. Your youngest daughter might be trying to wear make-up, like her older sister, but her make up is a little too grown up for her. I think the youngest girls in the household, would feel just like the older girls, if they had the chance to play with the 32 Piece Barbie Make-up Set. Dish Wins Lockout - Sports TV Back!

The days of Rupert Murdoch and his huge company News Corporation trying to bully the TV industry are quickly coming to an end. The power from Murdoch’s Company trying to force Dish Network customers into paying most of the satellite costs; while letting Directv escape any rate increases won’t work! Why? Because Dish Network refused to give in, to these bullying tactics, in which News Corporation and Fox Network supported; along side their greedy leader Rupert Murdoch.

Fox Sports has had a rough month. After not getting approved for their attempts to steal money from Dish customers, on the days right before October 1st. They demanded their sports channels to be pulled from the Dish Network line-up of sports programming. The Dish company urged Fox Sports to leave the channels up; while they continued with the negotiations, between the two parties. Nope, the over-confident folks in charge over at Fox said they wanted their channels off the Dish Network now! They are the ones who had absolutely no respect for you and didn’t care if you were going to miss your college football games or any of the MLB games; as baseball played their final regular season games of the year.

This was NOT Dish Network who pulled the plug and left sports fans without access to their local sports programming. Fox Sports had full confidence, the largest satellite company in the land, would give-in and meet their rate increases. They just knew Dish would not want to face their customers, if they couldn’t offer them their favorite local sports team. The pressure from angry satellite subscribers is what Fox Sports was counting on, so they could get away with their new rate increases, which were more than 50% higher!

So with no options or room to talk like civilized business people, the only thing Dish Network could legally do, was to honor the requests of the owners of Fox Sports. Which was to terminate their sports channels immediately from the Dish Network family of channels. When Dish customers turned on their TV sets and saw there was no sports to be watched, a lot of initial reactions and blame went toward the Dish Network Company. Which was really unfair to them, since it was the Fox Network and News Corporation folks who had actually pulled the plug.

I am one of the biggest sports fans you will find. I love all of my local pro and college sports teams. Not having access to these Fox Sports Channels was every bit as rough for me, if not rougher, than any other sports fans out there, who was dealing with this Fox Blackout. I immediately wanted to see what was going on. Who was to blame? What options do I have? How much longer will this Dish Blackout last? I was in a high-speed panic mode and had no idea what my research and investigations was going to find, in this Sports Blackout; which was going on between Dish and Fox Sports.

One of the first things I was able to find out for sure, was the company responsible for the blackout. It was Fox Sports who demanded to Dish Network, for them to pull their channels off the air. Dish Network was not left with any choices at this point, so by laws governing the air waves in America, the satellite company took away these sports channels.

After learning how the end came to be, I wanted to know what Dish Network had did wrong, for them to even be put in this situation. I was ready to uncover these Dish mistakes and highlight them online, for everyone to know what led to the Fox Network’s decision to pull these channels off the air, in such a brute and angry manner.

Well it’s hard to explain each and every detail, but if you wanted to try and put it in a nutshell; I guess you could say Dish Network’s mistake, was not having Rupert Murdoch for a owner or TV partner? I know that may sound a little lame, but you can’t even imagine how the real details of this 21st century high-tech battle for television revenues played out.

It all started with the recession in this country; which we are not just beginning to work our way out of it. Since these hard times in our nation’s financial troubles, we are not as rich as we use to be. Our country does not hold the wealth it once did just 5 or 10 years ago. At least 1 million college educated employees, who had been working for the same company for at least 1 year, was suddenly out of a job and having trouble finding a new one. As people lost their jobs, they could no longer afford to pay for their monthly mortgage bills. While banks were foreclosing on these home owners in debt, they were left with no loan payments coming in for their spending money. Finally the whole thing just caved in and the Government had to step in and start bailing companies out and pumping money into the economy with the stimulus package.

Now I know most of you know this story, because we all lived through it. In one way or another, the recession has affected all of our lives and in many cases, it is still uncertain how we will get our next job or pay check. Everybody in the United States of America knew this country was in financial trouble and just how unstable the Amercian home and family are right now. The fabric of our society is being held together by a paper thin thread. The slighest trouble for any industry these days, could have a domino-effect on an entire sector of the market. While we all know this as Americans, it seemed the people running Fox Sports had no knowledge of Americans losing jobs and homes.

The reason I know Fox Sports knew nothing about the recession or troubles facing Americans today, is because they asked for Dish Network customers to pay for their expensive homes, luxury cars, corporate office buildings, and other expenses they have acquired; while operating their sports programming around the country. All the executives from Fox Sports did, was to figure out their bills and how much money their company owed in expenses and how much money they would need to maintain their comfortable lifestyles. Once they got their dollar figure of the money they needed to make, it was time to bill their customers, who were using their television sports services.

Since Rupert Murdoch, had ties with Fox, News Corporation, and Directv, they would not be asking for any pay increases from these customers, who were related to Murdoch services. The satellite company called Directv would be free of any pay increases or rate hikes, so their satellite services and prices could stay competitive with their biggest competitor Dish Network. While not increasing the Fox Sports rates for Directv Customers any, the Dish Network customers would see a rate hike, and they could just finish paying off the bill; for the money figure Fox Sports needed to operate on and to maintain luxury lifestyles.

 

What Fox Sports didn’t realize, they were trying to increase Dish customer’s rates by more than 50%! And they were shocked when Dish Network refused to accept these outrageous charges? After seeing all of this, I knew the culprit was Fox Sports and they had been the blame from the start. So what finally caused Fox Sports to give in?

Well after Dish not only refuses to pay higher rates, they are also left with 0 money owed to Fox Sports. In order to survive this sports blackout, they would have to increase rates to Directv customers and advertisers. Which Directv would not be too happy with and why would advertisers pay more; when their TV ads would be seen by less people? The World in which Fox Sports executives were living-in, no longer exists now. They were the last group in America to be affected by the recession. Now what future costs will Fox Sports be paying for their childish and spoiled rich ways?

All advertisers who are seeking advertisements on television today, do want to continue avoid Fox Sports, the Fox News Channel, the local Fox stations, and the Fox Business Channel. Any TV channel that has the Fox name attached to it, is not a safe or wise long-term choice for advertising. The situation at Fox Sports is still very unsteady and they are not out of the woods yet. They still have to reconcile with the NCAA, Major League Baseball, NHL Hockey, and the National Basketball Association; which has just started up their season and was unable to bring their first games of the season to Dish Network sports fans, because Fox Sports blacked them out.

Advertising on Fox TV Stations is NOT recommended. The sports world is going to have a long talk with Fox Sports for their senseless acts and all the problems they caused for them self and sports fans who missed out on their favorite teams playing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the NBA and MLB go to other networks and if this happens, don’t expect the NHL to hang around either. Fox Sports will be working their way out of this deep hole for a long time to come and I will be directing advertisers away from Fox Sports and Fox Channels every chance I get.

The final conclusion is the Dish Network Company won and did the right thing, by not paying ridiculous rate increases. Now by standing up to a huge corporation like News Corporation, it gives this satellite company something the other satellite company doesn’t have. A backbone!

When you see a TV commercial for food, does it often make you hungry? Most people probably get home from a long day of work and will eat right away. So when they turn the television on, it doesn’t make them as hungry. I am someone who works on the computer and will forget to eat sometimes. Since I am home all the time, it really isn’t that big of a deal. Now if I see an ad on TV, it can make me very hungry. The fast food ads do a good job with luring me in to their television advertisements.

I know some restaurants like to point out the competition and state why their product is better than the other guys. I would never give attention or even recognized the competitor. I think this is true for most companies advertising on TV. No need to mention the competition and give them some time on the airwaves. Especially, when the TV commercial is being spent on your dime. I think fast food restaurants, who admit there is some fast food competition out there, should not practice this anymore. Just focus on what you have to sell and what trouble you went through to make it, so customers can come by and order it.

I don’t guess there is any chance of getting you guys to remove all food pictures, from your TV commercials? OK, OK, OK, I just thought I would ask!

I have done a lot of surfing over the years, so I feel comfortable in naming a king and queen traffic exchange to others. I just didn’t look at one aspect, but the traffic exchange as a whole. They can work wonders in the search engines and for other key stats and online promotional goals. If you don’t click any bonus links, you are still earning credit like you would for any other auto surf online. Fox Sports and their advertisers need to listen up. The executives at Fox sports is trying to over-charge sports fans for their favorite sports games. I’m glad Dish Network stood up to these guys at Fox Sports. While I am the biggest sports fan you can find and have already missed key pro baseball games and my favorite college football teams play in the last couple of days, I don’t mind it. Due to the greed going over at Fox Sports; who try to demand a 50% rate increase for their sports channels. This is crazy! Times are not as good as they were a few years ago. This country is going through some hard time financially and as Americans we need to ban together so our way of living can continue. Sports is only entertainment and a way for people to escape for a few hours on the weekend or through the week from their hectic lives. Now is not the time to be demanding more money for your services; which aren’t always up and running.

As an avid sports fan, I can tell you there are more audio and visual problems with Fox Sports than any other sports channel on television today. I get upset a lot that Fox Sports have all these technical issues and it really gets old seeing them coming from the same sports network over and over again. Now for their crappy service and unable to provide sports fans with the full video and audio effects of a lot of their sports programming, they want a rate hike of over 50% from every Dish Network subscriber? This is ridiculous and its time more of us stand up for our right like the people at Dish Network are doing.

I am calling for an all-out ban on any advertiser who decides to advertise on Fox Sports. Actually, I think we should take this one step further. While Fox News and Fox Business are not part of the ban on Dish Network’s side of things, I think we need to send a message to the whole Fox community of TV channels. Any advertiser who decides to advertise their products or services on any channel of Fox, I say we stop using their products or services. Even if Dish Network and Fox Sports reach an agreement, our ban on Fox TV commercials will extend for the next year. So for 1 year, any commercial you see on any Fox TV station, please don’t use or buy their product any more. I encourage all advertisers to stop using Fox TV for any promotional advertising. The people from Fox Sports are trying to take money out of our pockets for their programming and they decide to do it during these hard economical times.

Please join the fight and let’s teach the Fox company a lesson. We don’t need more expensive things in our lives right now. We need value and lower prices on everything across the board. People are losing their homes and are not working, due to the recent recession our country just recently went through. It’s time someone is taught a lesson and no better place to start; than with family of Fox TV Channels.

*Do not buy from any advertisers who try to sell their products on Fox News, Fox Business, or Fox Sports after October 10th. All advertisers have a 1 week notice to cancel their advertisements and promotions on any Fox TV station. This ban is going to be good until October 10th, 2011. A one year ban for all companies who want to air their products or services on the Fox Network.

Thank you Dish Network for looking out for your customers. I support you guys 100% with your decision to not pay these ridiculous price increases. It’s too bad the Directv customers have to pay companies like Fox for higher satellite television bills. I won’t be surprised if Fox Sports tries to increase their prices for those who use Direct TV. There is a reason why Dish Network customers pay less for their satellite television channels than those customers who use Dicrectv. It’s because of situations like this; which has been caused by the Fox family of TV stations.

Please sports fans who are using Dish Network to watch your sports programming. It wasn’t Dish Network that took your favorite sports games off the air. This was Fox Sports who demanded to Dish Network that they pull their channels off of their satellite TV choices. This problem has been caused by Fox Sports and we do not need to give in to their greedy demands. Stand up for what is right and understand missing a few sports games right now isn’t the end of the World. This issue is much bigger than just watching our favorite sports teams playing each week. We should not be placing judgment on the people from Dish Network. We should put the blame on those directly responsible and that is for the President, CEO, and other high-level executives from the Fox Sports channels. Thank you Dish Network and I am behind you 100% and we can wait this thing out; until Fox Sports comes to their senses!

I have to admit, I have never purchased an advertisement on television before. I would love to have the money, so I could buy a 30 second spot on TV. I’m not sure which one of my programs I would want to promote on a 30 second TV commercial, but would like to see the response I could get.

Since I haven’t advertised on television (yet), I have no idea what the cost would be. I do know the 30 second TV commercials for the Super Bowl can cost 1 million dollars or more. I certainly won’t ever be advertising to the huge crowds that watch the biggest football game of the year, but I wonder what the prices are for other times of the day and year. A prime time commercial would be nice on one of the common network stations like ABC, CBS, or NBC. I think an 8 pm to 11 pm commercial would probably be $50,000 or more. So prime time is out for me, but perhaps I could sneak in during the wee hours of the morning on one of the less popular cable channels, like the Food Channel, Discovery Channel, History Channel, or a channel of that magnitude. You usually see a lot of infomercials on during these late night and early morning hours, so it must be some what affordable to some.

I don’t even know why some people pay for TV commercials. It obviously costs a lot to be on television these days. It would only make sense, for you to put your best marketing and advertising minds on a big promotional ad like this. If TV is king of the hill in advertising and it costs a lot to be on TV, why not make your commercial good or entertaining? Some TV commercials are very boring or really make little sense. I’m not talking about 2 or 3 specific commercials. I’m talking about dozens I see each day are just really bad and I can’t understand why a company or an individual would just waste money like that. If you plan to make a TV commercial in the future, please make it worth watching. The DVR is just going to become more popular, if these advertisers just keep putting out poor TV ads in between our daily and night time programs.

If you ever stop to pay attention to the online ads when you read your emails or just surfing the Net, you may see one product that gets shown a lot. I’m talking about all of the colon cleaning ads I see each day. It’s been like this for about a year now and the World Wide Web is filled with various advertisements for these colon cleansers and having a clean colon ad. I believe now you can even get colon cleansing pills, so we will probably begin to see these ads too. I do think it’s important for us to maintain a clean and healthy colon. Just like your sewer tank outside needs to be pumped out ever so often at our house; our own sewer tank versions inside the human body need to be clean too. Getting rid of all of those harmful toxins and waste is a good thing. No one should be carrying around harmful waste inside of them. This can lead a person to becoming very sick and in some cases, even lead to death. Our colon cleaning treatments can save our life. This is what makes them important. I guess this is why we see all of the colon advertising online now and will continue to see them, as long as people need to understand the importance of having a clean colon.

I have been hearing some interesting things about one of the newer shows on television these days. It is a TV program called Glee and is getting pretty popular. Do you ever watch this Glee show? Do you like it? I have seen a few previews and see a lot of people who sing on this show from the FOX Network. If you only could watch one program for an entire season, would you choose Glee or American Idol?

 I will have to find out what time this show comes on during the week and on which day it airs. I wasn’t really sure if this was a show for kids only or if the adults enjoyed watching it too. I have heard some adults getting into the Glee fun and even setting their DVR’s to record every episode. I would probably prefer to do it that way too, so I could fast forward through the commercials. I have seen enough TV advertising to last me a lifetime. I really hate watching Fox News or CNN in the morning times and seeing all of their ads they show. Some television programs just have way too many commercials. I will make plans to watch Glee and you can be sure on one thing. I will be fast forwarding every commercial I see, so I can watch the Glee TV Program in about 40 to 45 minutes.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Coming Soon

I can really have you sitting pretty this holiday season, but you must follow a few directions and you can’t let Cyber Monday or Black Friday pass you by. After everyone has eaten their turkey dinners on that Thursday we call Thanksgiving in late November. Once all of the holiday football action is over with and we know who all the winners and losers are. It will be time to take a nice little nap and prepare for a long day on Friday. This will be the first stop on our holiday savings trip and this is the day we refer to as Black Friday.

Not sure what Wal-Mart or some of these other 24 hour retailers might do at midnight on Thursday night, but if they do plan to have some bargains at 12:00 Midnight, you will want to make sure to be there. This means going to sleep at about 4PM on Thursday afternoon and getting a good 5 or 6 hours of sleep in. Once you arrive at a Target or Wal-Mart sale, this will officially kick off the Black Friday holiday. You don’t want to go back home either (if you can help it). Try to leave straight from the Wal-Mart store and go to a place that will have a 3AM or 4AM opening on Black Friday. This is very important that you follow these directions to a “T”. Go ahead and arrive early. Be sure you get out of your car, so you can go grab a spot in line at the front door, if there is a line forming. If not, just start the line yourself! It might seem a little strange at first, when you are the only one outside standing by the door, but by the time those front doors open up, you will be the most envied person at that store’s front doors; while you go in a few minutes early or they give you a head start and make the others wait 5 or 10 minutes on it. There are some stores that will reward the first person or the first 10 people in line and give them a little boost over everyone else.

Now the store you go to 2nd, assuming Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or a Target Super Store is your first one at midnight, may not be a store you are all that excited to be at. If I gave you a choice of any store to have the first spot in line at the door; which one would you choose? If one of the Best Buy locations is your first overall choice for an early arrival on Black Friday, then you are just like 95% of all of the other shoppers. Every year people plan to be at one of the big electronic stores and since Circuit City hasn’t been doing that well, it has left Best Buy at the top attraction on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Now remember when I said to follow my directions to a “T”? Well this is the part you will have to trust me on and if you do, I think you will have the best holiday shopping ever!

What we want to do on Black Friday is to avoid Best Buy and Circuit City. Don’t close the door on Radio Shack, because they might be in a position to help those disappointed shoppers who didn’t get into a Best Buy store in the first 1 or 2 hours of opening their doors up. It really all depends on how much attention your Radio Shack location will draw in the wee hours of the morning Friday. I do want to make one thing clear. I am not avoiding Best Buy because its a bad store or company. Simply avoiding it, because this is where everyone else will be and I can be making the rounds at several stores!

You will still have to use a little common sense and make some of your decisions based on the holiday budget you have to spend on Black Friday. If you can come up with $3,000; then that would be a super fun event with that much cash to splurge. If your not taking more than $1,000, you probably won’t have that best shopper in the world feeling. You really need at least a grand and more than likely, you will still have money left over to buy you a steak or a hibachi dinner at one of the Japanese Restaurants. Don’t worry if you don’t have the thousand bucks right now, because I don’t either. Now is when we start eating a little cheaper, driving a little less, and spending less of our money and we will begin to build up a little next egg. We still have a full season (3 months) to start saving up for this one very special Friday in late November.

Now about the common sense. If  you see a broom and mop set that comes with a gallon of floor cleaner and you know they sell this cleaner for $5 a gallon on normal days, but this Black Friday they will give you the 1 gallon cleaner, a new broom, and a new mop for just a buck ($1). Well this package is probably worth 7 or 8 dollars at least, so picking one up for a dollar is totally fine. What if the store has 100 of these sets to sell and no limits to the number of sets you can buy. Well these might make a few nice holiday gifts for people at work or distant friends and relatives that you normally send some little gift to them. You may pick up some extra sets of this one dollar deal, but you really need to have some idea on where these brooms and mops are going, so you don’t end up with a dozen of these in a hall closet somewhere. An important rule to remember is to not over buy, because you never know when the next great deal might be around the corner.

You can win on Black Friday and be the kings of all shoppers. Just stick to a few basic rules and you might want to start jogging a little or running, so you will be in good physical shape for your hustling adventures on Black Friday.

Now let’s talk about the 2nd biggest shopping day of the year. This will be on the Monday that follows right after the fun we are going to have on Black Friday.  Then it all equals out to a ton of people online and the majority of them visiting the places where you go to shop online. You can actually set your watch by some of these Cyber Mondays.

Like for instance, in the Eastern USA most employees and especially those in the office will be working a 9 to 5 schedule. A lot off these employees on the East Coast will begin taking lunch breaks at 11 AM . A big portion of them will have a small meal or snack and they will eat for the first 15 minutes of their hour long break. Once it gets to about 11:15 EST; the numbers start to light up all over on the World Wide Web. Just like it was a well planned out system by a bunch of people who wanted to shut down the Internet systems of the World or at least the ones in this country.

The 11:15 a.m. Cyber Monday shoppers are the first ones who really make that Monday appear like no other day of the year, in terms of the World that exists online. Now those taking lunch breaks at 11 on the eastern side will keep the traffic levels high as the lunch breaks will continue to cycle around to 2 p.m. est. By the time most lunch breaks have ended  back East, the employees on Pacific time are only beginning to take their 11 a.m. PST lunch breaks. So as some of the traffic starts to exit offline up and down the Atlantic Coast of the USA; all of those office workers with access to a computer and want to do a little online shopping, will keep the traffic numbers up when they start appearing online up and down the Pacific Coast of the USA.

Now if you thought these lunch breaks was well planned out, all across the country, then check this out. As the last employees clock their self back in from the West Coast States, as they cycle through all of their lunch hour breaks by 2 p.m. in the afternoon local time. The 5:00 o’clock whistle is a blowing loud and hard back east, for everyone to go home. When it look like the Internet Highway was going to get a break, the work day has came to an end on the Eastern Coast, so now the workers who didn’t have access to a computer on their lunch breaks, they begin to fill up the Cyber World and it’s just a non stop, heavy online traffic, for a lot of the big name websites; which the Cyber Monday crowds will be flocking too.

Remember all of those electronic stores and other high traffic places, I wouldn’t let you go to on Black Friday?

The Famous Amanda Bynes Tweet

Hollywood directors for TV shows and movies can now add Amanda Bynes name back on the list for new employees to hire. This is another reason to show and prove to the world just how powerful the the social networking world has became. It was one of the most famous tweets ever and it came from an ex-actress named Amanda Bynes. She was a retired actress, but now according to her Twitter account, the young and talented Miss Bynes is now open for business again! She announced on her Twitter account, that she is ready to star in another big Hollywood blockbuster or will just take a job as a TV show actress. I guess the girl has to eat like the rest of us and she figured out she needed more money, before she could retire from acting.

Amanda Bynes Returns

If you didn’t know that Amanda Bynes had retired from acting don’t feel so bad. I wasn’t aware she had hung it up either; until I heard the news today. It’s funny it took a social networking website like Twitter to announce that Amanda Bynes has returned to acting. I’m sure a lot of new job offers will come her way. Looks go a long way in Hollywood and so does youth. Amanda Bynes combines both of those qualities and more.

It should be interesting to see where her next job will come from. If I had to guess now, I will say she will appear on a TV show as a guest appearance. This will be some quick money she can put in the bank account, so she can live high and mighty until she finds more permanent work here in the real world.
