I’m not sure where the 2011 Japan Earthquake will officially rank on the list of worse earthquakes ever in Japan, but I am calling this one the worse. If you figure-in all of the modern technology and a higher population of people living in Japan, it leaves more room for destruction costs to go up. The total damage amount in terms of dollars will take the rest of this year and most of 2012 to really put an accurate number on it. The death toll in Japan continues to rise too, so we still don’t know how many people have lost their life, to this awful disaster that took place in Japan on Friday afternoon.

It was during the daylight hours of the afternoon on March 11; when the powerful earthquake started to register the first numbers on the Richter scale (unit used to measure earthquake size and power). The latest number I have seen is 8.9 earthquake in Japan Friday. The magnitude of a 6.0 earthquake can cause a lot of damage and loss of life. When you go up to a 7.0 earthquake, it becomes a life-changing effect; which will reach out and affect a huge number of people and man-made structures. Anything over an 8.0 is incredible power, that comes up from the center of the Earth’s surface and causes a ton of damage above ground. Now the officials in Japan are dealing with an 8.9 magnitude earthquake and it has affected a very densely populated area of Japan. The center of the earthquake was away from Japanese soil and it did occur many miles out to sea. The timing was in the afternoon for the earthquake out in the ocean and then it was a little later, right before the rush hour in Japan, where we saw the tsunami come ashore to a large portion of the Japanese Country.

I’m so glad this horrible disaster did take place during the day, where the citizens and people visiting Japan could at least see what was going on. I fear one day, we will have one of these big tsunamis and it will take place at night; which will cause a lot more horror, destruction, and loss of human life. The other big tsunami that most people will remember, took place on the day after Christmas a few years back. This tsunami was the biggest I had ever seen, but it did take place during the daylight hours too. This probably help to save hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent lives back then, for the December 26th tsunami.

Right now, all we can do is watch the horror on our TV screens and see all of the problems this nation is currently facing and will have to continue to face over the coming days, week, months, and lots of years too. Citizens of Japan are being asked to leave a 12 mile radius area, around the Japanese Nuclear Power Plant. The nuclear facility in Japan, is in danger with some radiation escaping. Since Japan is really the only nation ever to be on the wrong end of a nuclear attack, these latest concerns over the nuclear power plant, have to be bringing up some old memories, that are not pleasant ones, for the people who remember the nuclear attack in 1945 by the United States military.

While growing up, I never had desires to be in advertising. I wanted to play professional sports and get paid for playing games. After I grew up a little more, I realized my sports dreams were just a dream and I would never be good enough to be on television. So then I begin to bounce from one job to the next. In some cases, I wouldn’t even work the full week, the full day, or even the full hour. Yes, I said “hour“. I showed up at one job and it was for a company that made rubber. I was scheduled to start at 7 a.m. one morning and I did show up on time. I walked in and seen I was going to be working in a large doorway and it was during the winter time and really cold outside. For those of you who have worked in doorways before, you know the types of breezes that can come through from time to time. Or perhaps you worked at the window, at a fast food restaurant’s drive thru service. You know how that cold air can just rush in and its hard to stay warm in situations like these. Well getting back to the rubber company, I was going to have to be doing some pretty heavy labor in this doorway area and they told me I needed a pair gloves and asked if I had any. Well I did have some gloves out in my car and told them about it. They said it would be best if I went I got them or they could hunt me some down. So I left to go get the gloves out of my car. Once I got to the car, I was really dreading this job and the situation I had got myself into. I was thinking should I work until lunch time and just leave? I had did that before at other jobs, so it wouldn’t have been nothing new for me. However, it was just 7 o’clock in the morning and lunch time was a long ways away. Then it crossed my mind to just get in the car and leave. Never look back, just drive away and forget that place. I decided that was my best choice, so I did leave this job without working an hour. Heck, I didn’t even work the first minute or even second for that matter. I’m not sure how long it took them to notice that I had left and wasn’t coming back, but I still don’t regret leaving that job, especially on that cold winter morning. “I’m rubber and your glue, what you say bounces off of me and sticks to you.”  Well you can be the rubber, I will be happy being some cool green Elemers glue! So my experience in the rubber industry was over and this happened about 15 years ago in 1996 or 1997.

I would spend the next 8 or 9 years doing all sorts of jobs. In the delivery business, I have worked for 2 pizza companies, 1 restaurant, and a flower shop that I delivered flowers for. I would go to people’s houses, their jobs, hospitals, funeral homes, and even made deliveries to the graveyards. I have had all kinds of factory jobs. Been a order picker for a factory that sold Joel Osteen Booksand other merchandise. Osteen is a famous preacher on television and he makes millions of dollars in selling  books, religious items, and some people just give cash donations to his TV ministry. He’s a very rich man and good money in selling books online or in the bookstores. Trust me on that!

I worked for a clothing factory where I was a order picker, truck loader/unloader, stocked shelves, and pulled a pallet jack around for most of my time at the clothing factory. I worked for a German Company that sold water faucets for the kitchen and bathrooms. I would use a buffer and buff chrome parts that went to the faucets, handles, shower heads, and other chrome pieces, that had to be shinned up or have the shine taken off of them. It paid really good money, but was a hard job to do. Another good paying job I had was working for Uncle Sam or the Government. I worked for the U.S. Postal Service three different times. Once as a mailman for a city near me, once as a mailman for the city I live in now, and the 3rd time was for extra help they needed during the Christmas season at one of their main hubs. They would sort through huge piles of mail at this facility.

I have worked two different security jobs for 2 different companies. The first security job I had, was just sitting at a desk at a 7 story building. I would get to go make rounds a couple of times a night, but this was a very boring job and time moved really slow. My 2nd security job they gave me a vehicle to drive and I was responsible for checking about 8 buildings in this one area, where the main corporate offices were at. They had a lake on this facility, indoor Olympic size pool, exercise room full of weights and exercise equipment, a huge kitchen/cafeteria, a doctor’s office,  and 5 of the buildings were 4 stories or higher. I was also responsible for 4 more buildings that were off-site from the main property. These 4 buildings were located in 3 different places and each one was about 5 miles away from the other one. I worked with another security officer at night. He/She would stay in our control room on the main property and monitor security cameras, answer phones, and things like that. This job was like my first security job. I’m glad I was a mobile security guard and was able to travel around. I could go where ever I wanted to and was required to visit each of the buildings at least once per night. It was a fun job, as long as you are not afraid of the dark, big buildings, and hearing things that go “bump” in the night. Those big buildings can make some creepy noises when you are all alone. I could sit in the lobby at some of them, and it would sound like someone 1 story up was throwing chairs against the wall, it would be that loud sometimes. Most of the sounds came from the wind and how air would travel through these large buildings. This job paid over $10 an hour and was able to get a lot of over time in, where they would pay time and half time. This means for each hour over 40 hours you would work, you would get paid your normal hourly wage + half (50% of another hour). So basically they would pay you for 90 minutes of work, each 60 minutes you would work over 40 hours for the week. If a company in the USA has 12 or more employees, it is federal law, they must pay you time and a half for every hour you work over 40 hours. My security job had trouble finding new employees who had clean driving records, so they could operate our security vehicle. Since my driving record was clean, I got the opportunity to work a lot hours and put in a lot of 7 day weeks, which was 56 hours (7 days X 8 hours per day), but in a lot cases, I was asked to work half of another shift, due to a lack of help. So I would get my 56 hours per week, then 3 or 4 other days in the week, I would pick up an extra 4 hours per day and I had a few paychecks with 70+ hours. My highest week was over 80 hours. So you can do the math and see how big some of my paychecks would get. At just 10 dollars per hour, I would get 400 dollars for my first 40 hours. In a week I got 80 hours in, I would get 40 time and half hours, which means $15 per hour. So my 2nd forty hours in the overtime structure would be $600. So for a 80 hour work week, I would get $1000 at a rate of $10 per hour. I was making over this amount, so my gross on my paychecks were over 1,000 per week. After taxes, I would get about 800 dollars,but I was in hog heaven. Not to mention, I had a 2nd job delivering pizza, where I was making about 300 dollars in wages and tips. So things were real good for me, when I had my security job and my pizza delivering job at the same time.

Finally I got into this online advertising game. I first started out as an affiliate for a satellite company. There is really only 2 satellite companies out there, so if you take a guess, you got a 50/50 chance of guessing which one I worked for. They was going to pay me $75 for each person I could get to start a free satellite service at their home. I was given a website (which I had to install and host online) and a few other tools for going door to door in my area and asking people if they would like to switch from cable to satellite. I never did try the “door to door” routine, but did work hard online to promote my satellite website. I never sold the first satellite dish, but I did learn how to promote online. I also found out about all the “get rich quick” schemes and money making programs people had online. For the last 5 years I have been promoting a lot of these programs online and I have made a few dollars doing it.

I had a close friend online who gave me a chance to run a traffic exchange. This is where my first big break came in. I was able to keep all the money this traffic exchange made; which wasn’t much, but I got free advertising. When you have your own TE, you do get the benefits of free advertising. So this allowed me to promote several money making programs and some of the good affiliate programs online. I was beginning to see how I could make a living working from home, if I could just get a few of these programs rolling or built some massive downlines in my affiliate programs.

I also got to see how some people were not honest online. I have signed up for a lot of programs that turned out to be scams or the website would just go offline or disappear for no reason. After you see this side of the online marketing game, you realize just how tough it can be. It also comes with a lot of stress, if you spend a lot of time and money into one program and then it suddenly goes out of business or just stops paying its members. There are some really good folks out there. A lot of honest programs and ones that I completely trust and have a lot of faith in.

The same guy that gave me a traffic exchange to run online, also taught me another good way to earn money online. This was to blog for advertisers. He helped me to get some blogs and then showed me blogging companies to sign up for and how I could sell text links in the sidebar for some extra cash too. Since I g0t my first blog, I have now added about 7 more to my arsenal of online weapons, so I can help my own promotions online, but I can also assist others in trying to make money with the products or services they’re promoting on the Internet. It has turned out real good and I learn something new everyday. I wished more people could be exposed to affiliate marketing, the way I have had a chance to learn about it. I will probably never have a real job in life again. I have figured out how to make just enough money to survive on. I will need to keep progressing or I will fall behind.

No matter how long you been advertising online, you can always learn something new. I am proof of that. I pick up new tricks and helpful hints from people who have been working 5 weeks online, compared to the 5 years I have been here. I never try to act like I know all of the answers. I know some online who like to make others think they know it all, but in most of these cases, all I see is them repeating the advice the guru’s suggest for us to do.

If you keep following people around online and doing the same things they do, you will never hit the jackpot online. You can make some money and its good to go with the grain and not against the grain most of the time. Its important you learn how others are making money online, so you can possibly use 1 or 2 of their tactics to make more moneyinto the system you have created online for your self. You must break away from the pack at some point and venture into uncharted territories on your own. This is the only way you will ever hit the jackpot online. The jackpot is a reference to making a unusual sum of money and being the first one to really do it in the fashion or way you have did it.

A lot of today’s marketers don’t dream big enough. They have bills to pay and mouths to feed at home. Some marketers online must stick to a strict pattern of rules and advice from their peers. So they can keep their heads above water. These marketers basically just have jobs and they are working them the same way they are working their real jobs in life (if they even have a real job). If you’re in a unique position, where no one is relying on you to make money online to survive on and your bills are getting paid on time. Then you need to dream big, think big, and try all sorts of wild and crazy ways online to make money. Finding free time is the hardest thing in the world to do. I am glad I have all of the free time in the world to follow my online dreams. If you are limited to the amount of time you can stay online each day, then you must use your time wisely. The ones online now who claim to be making 1000′s of dollars each month, are not in most cases. Most Internet marketers are making $400 to $1600 per month. That’s it! If you can bring in 2k per month, then you are ahead of 98% of the people online today. If you are making less than $400 a month, then are doing a lot of things wrong or you are doing everything perfect! If you are happy that you are making less than $100 per week online, because you have much bigger plans and dreams, then that’s super!
