Black Friday and Cyber Monday Coming Soon

I believe now is a good time to start thinking about the holidays. Get a game plan in place now and start trying to save up some extra cash for Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) and for Cyber Monday  (1st Monday after Thanksgiving). These are the two most important shopping days for the whole entire year. What makes them the best two? The fact that every retailer in the country tries to get in on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday action and the only way they can, is by lowering prices or offering a few really good deals on a few selected items. Consumers can pay much less on these two very special shopping days, but they have to be bargain and opportunity seekers. You can’t go in with the mindset of looking for specific items or for specific gifts for specific family members. Just go ahead and throw out all of the “specifics”.  These two days are much like the wind and all we want to do as a shopper, is be the leaf floating through the air and letting the wind take us to where ever it wants.

I can really have you sitting pretty this holiday season, but you must follow a few directions and you can’t let Cyber Monday or Black Friday pass you by. After everyone has eaten their turkey dinners on that Thursday we call Thanksgiving in late November. Once all of the holiday football action is over with and we know who all the winners and losers are. It will be time to take a nice little nap and prepare for a long day on Friday. This will be the first stop on our holiday savings trip and this is the day we refer to as Black Friday.

Not sure what Wal-Mart or some of these other 24 hour retailers might do at midnight on Thursday night, but if they do plan to have some bargains at 12:00 Midnight, you will want to make sure to be there. This means going to sleep at about 4PM on Thursday afternoon and getting a good 5 or 6 hours of sleep in. Once you arrive at a Target or Wal-Mart sale, this will officially kick off the Black Friday holiday. You don’t want to go back home either (if you can help it). Try to leave straight from the Wal-Mart store and go to a place that will have a 3AM or 4AM opening on Black Friday. This is very important that you follow these directions to a “T”. Go ahead and arrive early. Be sure you get out of your car, so you can go grab a spot in line at the front door, if there is a line forming. If not, just start the line yourself! It might seem a little strange at first, when you are the only one outside standing by the door, but by the time those front doors open up, you will be the most envied person at that store’s front doors; while you go in a few minutes early or they give you a head start and make the others wait 5 or 10 minutes on it. There are some stores that will reward the first person or the first 10 people in line and give them a little boost over everyone else.

Now the store you go to 2nd, assuming Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or a Target Super Store is your first one at midnight, may not be a store you are all that excited to be at. If I gave you a choice of any store to have the first spot in line at the door; which one would you choose? If one of the Best Buy locations is your first overall choice for an early arrival on Black Friday, then you are just like 95% of all of the other shoppers. Every year people plan to be at one of the big electronic stores and since Circuit City hasn’t been doing that well, it has left Best Buy at the top attraction on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Now remember when I said to follow my directions to a “T”? Well this is the part you will have to trust me on and if you do, I think you will have the best holiday shopping ever!

What we want to do on Black Friday is to avoid Best Buy and Circuit City. Don’t close the door on Radio Shack, because they might be in a position to help those disappointed shoppers who didn’t get into a Best Buy store in the first 1 or 2 hours of opening their doors up. It really all depends on how much attention your Radio Shack location will draw in the wee hours of the morning Friday. I do want to make one thing clear. I am not avoiding Best Buy because its a bad store or company. Simply avoiding it, because this is where everyone else will be and I can be making the rounds at several stores!

You can’t go shopping on Black Friday with the intent to buy any specific item. Please keep this in mind, because its the whole trick to everything. You only go to these stores and you only buy the things that are super cheap or has a really low price in your opinion. If you will only focus on value on these Black Friday mornings and stay away from Best Buy, because the crowds and traffic will tie you up too much and waste some of those valuable shopping hours, you can walk away as the biggest winner on Black Friday.

You will still have to use a little common sense and make some of your decisions based on the holiday budget you have to spend on Black Friday. If you can come up with $3,000; then that would be a super fun event with that much cash to splurge. If your not taking more than $1,000, you probably won’t have that best shopper in the world feeling. You really need at least a grand and more than likely, you will still have money left over to buy you a steak or a hibachi dinner at one of the Japanese Restaurants. Don’t worry if you don’t have the thousand bucks right now, because I don’t either. Now is when we start eating a little cheaper, driving a little less, and spending less of our money and we will begin to build up a little next egg. We still have a full season (3 months) to start saving up for this one very special Friday in late November.

Now about the common sense. If  you see a broom and mop set that comes with a gallon of floor cleaner and you know they sell this cleaner for $5 a gallon on normal days, but this Black Friday they will give you the 1 gallon cleaner, a new broom, and a new mop for just a buck ($1). Well this package is probably worth 7 or 8 dollars at least, so picking one up for a dollar is totally fine. What if the store has 100 of these sets to sell and no limits to the number of sets you can buy. Well these might make a few nice holiday gifts for people at work or distant friends and relatives that you normally send some little gift to them. You may pick up some extra sets of this one dollar deal, but you really need to have some idea on where these brooms and mops are going, so you don’t end up with a dozen of these in a hall closet somewhere. An important rule to remember is to not over buy, because you never know when the next great deal might be around the corner.

You can win on Black Friday and be the kings of all shoppers. Just stick to a few basic rules and you might want to start jogging a little or running, so you will be in good physical shape for your hustling adventures on Black Friday.

Now let’s talk about the 2nd biggest shopping day of the year. This will be on the Monday that follows right after the fun we are going to have on Black Friday. What makes Cyber Monday so special, this is the one day of the year; when we will have more Internet Traffic online than at any other time! The reason this always happens, is because employees and workers return back to work after the Thanksgiving Holidays and once they get a little free time at the office, they always go and do a little shopping. It may be hard to believe, but once you understand how many office employees there is in this country and then multiply that out by all of the ones who have access to computers and have kids, family, or friends they want to find a little gift for or at least check some prices. Then it all equals out to a ton of people online and the majority of them visiting the places where you go to shop online. You can actually set your watch by some of these Cyber Mondays.

Like for instance, in the Eastern USA most employees and especially those in the office will be working a 9 to 5 schedule. A lot off these employees on the East Coast will begin taking lunch breaks at 11 AM . A big portion of them will have a small meal or snack and they will eat for the first 15 minutes of their hour long break. Once it gets to about 11:15 EST; the numbers start to light up all over on the World Wide Web. Just like it was a well planned out system by a bunch of people who wanted to shut down the Internet systems of the World or at least the ones in this country.

The 11:15 a.m. Cyber Monday shoppers are the first ones who really make that Monday appear like no other day of the year, in terms of the World that exists online. Now those taking lunch breaks at 11 on the eastern side will keep the traffic levels high as the lunch breaks will continue to cycle around to 2 p.m. est. By the time most lunch breaks have ended  back East, the employees on Pacific time are only beginning to take their 11 a.m. PST lunch breaks. So as some of the traffic starts to exit offline up and down the Atlantic Coast of the USA; all of those office workers with access to a computer and want to do a little online shopping, will keep the traffic numbers up when they start appearing online up and down the Pacific Coast of the USA.

Now if you thought these lunch breaks was well planned out, all across the country, then check this out. As the last employees clock their self back in from the West Coast States, as they cycle through all of their lunch hour breaks by 2 p.m. in the afternoon local time. The 5:00 o’clock whistle is a blowing loud and hard back east, for everyone to go home. When it look like the Internet Highway was going to get a break, the work day has came to an end on the Eastern Coast, so now the workers who didn’t have access to a computer on their lunch breaks, they begin to fill up the Cyber World and it’s just a non stop, heavy online traffic, for a lot of the big name websites; which the Cyber Monday crowds will be flocking too.

Remember all of those electronic stores and other high traffic places, I wouldn’t let you go to on Black Friday? Well you can now go visit a Best Buy or a Circuit City and all of the peace and relaxation you can enjoy; while the Cyber Monday crowds won’t really bother you. Usually there is always some glitch or some website that wasn’t able to hand all of the extra traffic on Cyber Mondays. In order to prevent and play it on the safe side, you do want to try and wake up early on Monday and be the first one in “cyber-line” to pick up any products that might be very limited or will sell out fast. Also, just in case all of the traffic does shut down or cripple’s their website, you will be long gone and will have completed your business with the ever-popular Best Buy!

Black Friday is always the busiest shopping day of the year, for the malls and real department stores. Then just 3 short days later, when a lot of us are broke or spent most of our money the previous Friday after Thanksgiving, an amazing coincidence happens every single year and it’s the busiest day of the year for the majority of websites online. Hollywood directors for TV shows and movies can now add Amanda Bynes name back on the list for new employees to hire. This is another reason to show and prove to the world just how powerful the the social networking world has became. It was one of the most famous tweets ever and it came from an ex-actress named Amanda Bynes. She was a retired actress, but now according to her Twitter account, the young and talented Miss Bynes is now open for business again! She announced on her Twitter account, that she is ready to star in another big Hollywood blockbuster or will just take a job as a TV show actress. I guess the girl has to eat like the rest of us and she figured out she needed more money, before she could retire from acting.

Amanda Bynes Returns

If you didn’t know that Amanda Bynes had retired from acting don’t feel so bad. I wasn’t aware she had hung it up either; until I heard the news today. It’s funny it took a social networking website like Twitter to announce that Amanda Bynes has returned to acting. I’m sure a lot of new job offers will come her way. Looks go a long way in Hollywood and so does youth. Amanda Bynes combines both of those qualities and more.

It should be interesting to see where her next job will come from. If I had to guess now, I will say she will appear on a TV show as a guest appearance. This will be some quick money she can put in the bank account, so she can live high and mighty until she finds more permanent work here in the real world.

I recently saw a commercial on television that was advertising for costumes. They offered more than just your typical Halloween costume you would expect to find at these costume stores. They were trying to lure customers in with a big special they were having and was letting TV viewers know about the different party supplies they offered for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrated events. I thought it was kind of strange, since the Halloween holiday is more than 3 months away. I guess they really wanted people to visit their store, so they could see their main items for sale; which are the costumes they offer for all ages. They get you to cone in and see a few of their costumes and this will plant a seed, so you will return and buy one of their Halloween or other speciality costumes they offer.

I am an online marketer, so I understand the importance of advertising early, so you have proper placements in the search engines, when a certain time of the year does arrive. A company selling fishing lures, can’t wait until the spring to start advertising online. This is when most fishermen will buy their fishing supplies, so starting in the spring time is too late. These fishing companies that sell fishing lures, bait, sinkers, hooks, and other fishing supplies, should start their online promotions in late November. Get out your wallet NBA owners, because there is a chance you and your GM can be a hero for the upcoming season in the National Basketball Association. Your current coaches, players, and fans will love you to death, if you can capture one or two of these big names that will be floating around today. The first day of this month has been marked on the calendar for a lot of NBA employees and NBA fans. July 1st is the official start to the NBA free agency season and a lot of big names are out there for the taking.

The one question that everyone wants to know is; where will Lebron James being playing in the 2010/2011 NBA season? It will take more than a big billboard on a downtown Cleveland building to keep the King home, as a number of teams will be throwing their self into the Lebron James lottery. The Cleveland Cavaliers do have a good shot at keeping Lebron in Ohio, since James would earn the most money with them and it’s also the place where is friends and family call home.

The first team today was the New Jersey Nets; who would get the ball rolling for the services of Lebron James. They have a new super rich owner with deep pockets, a new head coach in Avery Johnson, and their partial owner Jay Z were all there to welcome LeBron in for his interview with the league’s worse record last year. LeBron James and one more big name could find their way to Jersey and make the Nets an 8th seeded team in the East. James would make a lot of money off the court in New Jersey and this is why they have a shot to get him.

The next stop was in New York and it’s obviously the marketing capital of the World. No other team in the league would offer more dollars to Lebron James for off the court endorsements and advertising; than the Knicks could do next year. If it’s all about the money; then LBJ will be a Knickerbocker next season in the NBA.

The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls are two other teams that have a shot. For some reason a lot of public figures in Chicago think the Bulls have the best young team in the NBA. Perhaps they should look at other young teams and realize they are not the best young team. Lebron in Chicago would not even be a top 5 seed in the East next year and this is assuming another big time free agent joins him there. The Heat have Dwayne Wade, who is also a free agent, but would make the most basketball sense for Lebron to choose. James, Wade, and 1 more big free agent name would put the Heat as one of the top 4 teams in the East. The Celtics, Magic, and Hawks are currently the top 3, with a Cavs team that doesn’t have number 23 or 6 on their roster. Not sure if the Heat would be better than any 3 of these teams, but a solid 4th in the East. Chicago would not win multiple championships if Lebron comes their way, because they could only strut out a starting 5 and would have no one on the bench to play championship basketball. It takes starters and a bench to win a championship in the NBA; unless you have the best player in the league, who is Kobe Bryant and not LBJ.

A lot of folks forgot that Cleveland had the best record in the NBA last year. Funny how that little piece of news doesn’t get talked about, since the Cavs lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs this year. If Lebron wants to win a championship as soon as possible, then the Cavaliers offer that. If it’s about money, it would be with the Knicks. The Heat would be a possibility in 2 to 3 years with a Wade and James combination in South Florida, but not as likely as the current cast and crew for the Cleveland Cavaliers. I don’t think the Nets or Bulls have much of a shot, because neither team can offer the money that N.Y. can and their current talent is way below the poverty line.

Pat Riley offered Amare Stoudamire a deal with the Heat and included the James and Wade combination. If Stoudamrie, Wade, and James play in Florida next year. I think the Heat will be a 3 seed in the East and will be 2nd round losers in the NBA playoffs next year. No bench in Miami and not enough time to gel as a team for an NBA Championship. In two years from now, it would be possible. So the Heat do have a 20 percent chance of landing Lebron James. Players don’t often have the patience of waiting to win and if Lebron wants the instant NBA ring. He will stay in Cleveland and I will give the Cavaliers a 30 percent chance of getting the big fella. They all say they want to win, but we really know it’s about the money. The most money would be in New York, but I feel N.Y. didn’t bring enough to the table on day 1 of the free agency, so I’m only going to give their odds at less than 10 percent. The Nets are almost NY and will be in Brooklyn if Jay Z has anything to do with it. The Brooklyn Nets will offer King James the most money in 2012 and be close enough now, for Lebron to take home an almost NY paycheck, so the Nets odds come in at 40 percent.

They will be some big losers in the Lebron James frenzy. The Heat, Bulls, and Knicks all made bad trades and gave other teams value, with their attempts to clear space for LBJ. One could possibly win, but at least 2 will surely lose. So get ready NBA fans. We are gonna get a good laugh at the expense of at least 2 NBA franchises. If Lebron picks any NBA team outside of the Cavaliers or Heat; then he clearly based his decision on money and everyone will know what the King really stands for. He must be wearing a Heat or Cavs Jersey next season for him to truly care about winning.

New Pepsi Throwback Formula

The makers of Pepsi Cola are bringing back their old-style cans and the taste that comes with it. Pepsi no longer uses sugar in their formula to make the Pepsi products of today. For a limited time they are bringing back these throwback cans and this Pepsi will be made with real sugar. I have seen the TV commercials for about a month now. I’m not sure when this special promotion will run out, but it appears that Mountain Dew is also coming back with real sugar too. I just bought a 12 pack of the Pepsi Throwbacks last night in the grocery store. I couldn’t find them for sale in convenience stores, so you might have to try a big supermarket to get your Pepsi or Mountain Dew Throwbacks. I like the taste and the real sugar in the Pepsi does make a difference.

Coke Classic Not Original Coke Formula

Many will remember when Coke changed their formula back in the 1980′s. The new formula was called New Coke and didn’t go over well with long time Coke drinkers. The Coca Cola Company realized their mistake in changing the formula, so they brought the old Coke back. The old Coke was now called Coke Classic, but the Coke Company never did tell consumers that this wasn’t the original formula. I kept an old can from those original Coke days and I compared the ingredients listed on the can with the ingredients that were put into the Coke Classic cans. They did not match up!

Our original Coke had sugar in it. Just like these new Pepsi Throwback products do. Coca Cola Classic does not have sugar in them. It now says corn syrup and our original Coke didn’t have corn syrup listed as one of the ingredients on the can. So old Coke had sugar and no corn syrup; while the new Coke Classic products have corn syrup, but no sugar. I would like to see Coke bring back their original Coke formula and let us taste the real sugar in Coke again. I’m glad that Pepsi made this move to bring back the old Pepsi, so we can get an original taste from our childhood days. It would be nice to have that same experience with Coke again and hopefully they will make a move to bring back their old-style taste of Coke that’s made with real sugar too.

The Coca Cola Company did try to keep the New Coke and Coke Classic both on the market, but not enough people were drinking the New Coke, so it got took off the market. The New Coke had a taste that was more similar to the taste of Pepsi; than it had to the taste of Coca-Cola. For the younger generation that missed out on trying the New Coke Formula, didn’t miss anything special. Maybe Coke will even decide to try that New Coke on the market again someday, but as for now, we only have the Coke Classic made with corn syrup and this is not the original Coke formula or taste that we enjoyed before New Coke ever came out.
