Bobby Petrino Dunn in Atlanta
Wow! It’s amazing to see how things have changed in a year’s time and especially from the Atlanta Falcons perspective. The off-field troubles that have plagued Michael Vick throughout his NFL career have finally caught up to him and he isn’t even going to be on the Falcon’s team this year. The Falcons probably wish they would have known the future and they would have never let a talented quarterback like Matt Schaub escape from their grasp. The new head coach in Atlanta never would have vaulted his Louisville head coaching position, if he knew he wasn’t going to have Michael Vick on his team. Things are going great for Matt Schaub and the Lousiville Cardinals, but the same can’t be said for the Atlanta Falcons.
Matt Schaub took what many felt is the worse team in the NFL in the Houston Texans to an openning day triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Texans have never looked better and if Schaub stays healthy, this team is going to rack up a lot of wins this year. Then Petrino’s old team which he left is scoring points by the bunches. They have won their first two games of the college football season by a combined score of 131 to 52! Louisville in two games this year has already scored more points than the Atlanta Falcons will score all year long. The Falcons failed to get their first touchdown of the season on Sunday against a non-talented group of Viking players. They only got 3 points on the board and I would fully expect this pattern to continue. I doubt the Falcons will ever score 4 touchdowns in the same game this year and it should be interesting to see how many halfs of football go by, before they can get 2 touchdowns in the same half. I’m sure their defense will help with the scoring, but there’s no way this offense will put up 131 points this year from the offense.
While everything is fine and dandy in Cardinal land and in Schaub’s World, it’s not going to be pleasant in Hotlanta. The fans are already turning on the team and no way does Arthur Blank and the Falcon’s sell out next year’s home games, which will further distance their team to the fans. The problem that exist right now and has been existing in Atlanta is the lack of football knowledge on the team. No one has any unique thoughts or ideas on how to put a football team together. Once again the Falcon’s main go-to-guy is the little Warrick Dunn and he’s just not going to lead you to any playoff games. It’s not clear why Dunn has been picked as the feature of this offense with 3 different head coaches and why he even got more opportunities than Michael Vick. It’s a style the Falcons have stuck to and it’s just not going to fly in the NFL. Warrick Dunn does not posses any type of talents where he should be the feature of any offense in the NFL. The Falcons will be lucky to win 1 road game this year and even luckier if they can win 4 home games this year. 5 wins is too lofty of a goal for this team and getting 4 wins would be considered acceptable at this point I’m sure. I can’t see one team on the Falcons schedule they can beat this year, but you have to figure they will get lucky and win 1 or 2 games this year.
The Jaguars this weekend present a NFL defense and the Vikings did not. If the team put up 3 points against a non-NFL defensive team, it’s hard to imagine how they will fare against a team that has one. Now the Jags have their own QB problems and this might lend good field position for the team and the Falcons might be able to put a few field goals on the board. The Falcons defense can play, but we might not see that until Rod Coleman comes back to anchor the line.
Falcon fans have to be asking theirself:
HOW DOES WARRICK DUNN GET MORE OPPORTUNITIES THAN JOE HORN? JERRIOUS NORWOOD? MICHAEL VICK?
WHY SIT THE STARTERS IN THE FINAL PRESEASON GAME AND CALL A TIMEOUT WITH 1 SECOND ON THE CLOCK IN A BLOWOUT GAME?
HAVING PROBLEMS IN THE PRESEASON WITH USING TIMEOUTS PREMATURELY, WHY NOT LET THE STARTERS PLAY IN WEEK 4 OF THE PRESEASON?
WHY WAS BOBBY PETRINO PICKED TO COACH IN THE NFL, WHEN HE HAS NEVER EVEN FACED ELITE TALENT ON THE COLLEGE LEVEL?
Bobby Petrino I can help you and Arthur Blank salvage this season, but it has to start now! It’s really a simple concept and you have to forget who makes what. Warrick Dunn is a waste of time and at his age has no business wasting our time on offense any longer. Norwood is your starter for Week 2. No way do you give Adam Jennings another thing to return and you bring out a new player for this position next week. The in-game blaming has to stop right now! THIS IS FOR YOU BOBBY PETRINO! You held Harrington out to blame for his interception that led to the Vikings first touchdown. It carried on down to where Harrington yelled cussed words at the kicker for missing a field goal. THIS HAS TO STOP! All players are TIVO’ing the game and the kicker is going to see his quarterback cussing him for missing a field goal. Now here is a key nugget and really needs attention. DON’T PLAY FOR FIELD GOALS and quit focusing on the first down line. That first down line will kill you in the NFL. You play for touchdowns and big plays down the field. The defense wants you to play for 10 yards atta time. It makes life for them easy. Why in the world would you shorten the game in the first half when you’re losing? You gave the Vikings defensive coordinator and their defense a break, when you decided to run out the final minute of the first half and it’s a game where you are LOSING!
Arthur Blank get off the sideline! You don’t need to be seen on the sideline during a game and talking to players during a game! And while your at it guys, why don’t you try something creative on offense? We don’t have talent to play standard football right now, let the circus begin and see what circus acts we have on the team. We can’t win playing standard football and a good coach will recognize this and make corrections. He won’t run draw plays on 3 and 9 to play for field goals and will strive for the endzones!Click here for reuse options!
