In his last year of managing Major League Baseball (thankfully), Bobby Cox is not the toast of the town in this Atlanta Braves fan eyes. He’s more like the joke of the town. This old man isn’t even in shape enough to take his pitchers out of the game. He struggles to get his little tub up that pitching mound hill, to take away the baseball from a pitcher’s hand he is sending to the showers early. Perhaps he could use some of the best diet pills to get rid of the spare tire and eat 5 less meals a day. As many around baseball will be saluting this hall of farmer, I mean “hall of famer” coach in his last season, I seem to be the only one to know how bad he messed up a team 14 straight years. He did win one World Series title in 1995, but that was Game 6 of a baseball game we won 1 to 0. Not even the one WS Title was convincing for coach Bobby Cox of the Atlanta Braves.

Just look at his line-up for this year and you can see why the Braves failed to win more games in the World Series match ups. Our third baseman hit for a .265 average last year. He batted in the 3rd slot all year long last year and guess what? He plugged that same .265 hitter in to that 3 spot this year. Why?

Our centerfielder couldn’t get a hit in the spring training games this year. Everyone always gets hits in spring training. A time where pitchers work on new pitches and the real young guys get a chance to throw some. Our CF that couldn’t get a hit down in Florida this spring, is the guy we have starting the season as our centerfielder. He’s batted 8th most of the year, but the funny thing here, our center fielder has hit in the lead-off spot, in about 8 games this year. So if you’re doing the math at home. About 1/3 of our season so far, has a guy that leads off who couldn’t get a hit in spring training and he’s carried his cold bat into the 2010 season too. Then on top of that coaching blunder, we have our .265 average third basemen, hitting 3rd in the batting order. When our team bats in the first inning, we give you an out with the first guy and the guy hitting in the 3rd hole will give you 3 outs for each hit he gets.

Now to really make fun of Bobby Cox, he takes our hottest hitter from last year (with men in scoring position), which is our shortstop and he has batted no higher than 6th in the line-up and even has been pushed down to the 7th spot in the line up. Now this is coaching that makes no sense and our coach’s brain is on a diet in Atlanta! Not to mention that rookie Jason Heyward has performed better than new comer Troy Glaus and the other hitters in the Braves line up and he’s batted 7th most of the year. Our coach showing favortism to certain players is why the Atlanta Braves will not make the post season this year.
