Those goodies the children get from going trick or treating each year is not intended for the adults. The parents might want to dive in their kid’s bags this year, but remember those Halloween sweets are loaded in calories. Adults that are on a diet will want to stay away from the candy this year and try their best to just skip Halloween. It may be tough for those that have kids or your house is a popular destination for trick or treaters each year. If you’re going to be forced to be around all those tasty treats this year, you may want to try taking an appetite suppressant and see if that helps to cure off the cravings. I have a sweet tooth 365 days a year, so Halloween is pretty much just another day for me. Some households will buy more candy during the Halloween holiday; than they would normally buy for the entire year. These are the situations that could be costly for someone trying to lose weight. It’s almost impossible to stay on a diet during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, so making a stand on October 31st does give you more freedom for the last 2 months of the year. If you fall off that wagon this early on your journey; you may still be trying to lose Halloween calories in 2010.

There are few places in the world that we really picture snow in our minds, but most would probably think of Moscow, Russia having snow year-round. This actually isn’t true, but normally you can find a white Moscow from November to March every year. This may not be the case this year as they are planning to use the air force and chemicals to divert all snow clouds away from Moscow. It is possible to do this and this year there could be no snow falling in Moscow. It would cost about 6 million dollars to achieve this weather feat, but before you think this project is too costly, keep in mind that Moscow normally spends 12 million dollars once the snow is on the ground. They spend a lot of money plowing and removing the snow from Moscow streets, so business can continue as usual during the winter time. The proposed idea to stop it from snowing this year would actually save the city of Moscow about 6 million dollars or they would be spending 50% less on their usual winter budget for snow related issues. No snow in Moscow this year does offer a lot of benefits to the Russian citizens and you could come up with a pretty long list of why this would be a good thing for them this winter. Russian officials may want to focus on the short list of reasons why this might be a bad idea and the possible draw backs it could cause.

Going back to Hurricane Katrina in the United States; where some U.S. scientists question if Russia played a part with this devastating hurricane that rocked New Orleans and the surrounding areas a few years back. Low frequency signals have been detected coming out of Russia and how these could have played a part with Hurricane Katrina and with the California drought that struck the Western Coast of the USA before the historic hurricane. In an effort to combat these awful hurricanes that hit the Atlantic States and the states that surround the Gulf of Mexico; the United States played their own role in Mother Nature. They have focused a high pressure area off the coast of Florida that now helps to push away these hurricanes and prevent another Hurricane Katrina. Turning away these hurricanes caused a major drought in my state of Georgia and the city of Atlanta was just months away from running out of water, for a city that has over 6 million residents. Since Georgia and other southeastern states were suffering from no to little rainfall, we was forced to play Mother Nature again. This time we created more rain showers in the Southeast and this didn’t work out too well either. Our water table is very high in Georgia right now and we just came through some major floods that have never been seen in our state’s history before. These recent Georgia floods proved to be fatal for some living in Georgia and there were 17 counties that got declared federal disaster areas and it will take millions and millions of dollars to clean up from the Georgia floods.

Now I am learning that Moscow is in the early stages of planning a “no snow” winter and there could be some serious drawbacks to this idea. I can’t name them and probably the smartest people in the world could only come up with a few scenarios that would make this Russian idea a mistake. Not letting Mother Nature take her coarse has proved deadly and costly in the U.S. and Moscow is on a collision coarse to learning the side-effects the hard way. I know it may sound like a good idea now, but it’s impossible to calculate how this new winter idea could backfire. A drought in 2010 or floods could be the least of what happens; if no snow is allowed to fall in Moscow this year.

We have had front row seats to the destruction man has caused when they try to play with Mother Nature and the same could hold true for Russian officials that plan to turn off the snow faucets in Moscow this year. I would use the Russian Air Force to divert a small percentage of snow clouds this year and gradually make the move for lesser snowfall amounts falling in the Russian capital. An entire winter with no snow in Moscow is too drastic of a move and some where on Earth this idea would hurt them. Mother Nature does a pretty good job each year in the way she handles weather patterns on our planet. When we try to fix one area of the world from bad weather, we only cause more problems for some other areas. No one could have imagined the droughts in the Southeastern U.S.; when a few hurricanes were turned away. No one could have imagined the severe floods we recently seen; when we tried to make up for the lack of rainfall, from the droughts we caused in the first place. Using technology to play “weather maker” might be a real good idea someday, but until we can learn more on controlling the weather, the USA and Russia both need to let Mother Nature take her coarse. Snow does need to fall in Moscow this year and preventing this from happening could cause disasters in the spring and summer time for the people living in Moscow and other nearby regions.

I hope your day was more active than mine was. I just pretty much rolled out of bed, stayed on the computer most of the day; then took a nap in the evening and now here I am at 2 AM in the morning. If anyone asks me if I burned my fat today; then the answer would be a big fat NO! A lazy day like this every now and then is okay. We all need a day to ourselves to be lazy and do absolutely nothing. Watching a lot of TV and taking a few naps usually is the highlights of my lazy days and I wish I had more of them. People that need to burn fat each day, so they can maintain a healthy weight, may want to avoid these “lazy days” as much as possible.

Now the bad thing is, I am up and awake now and it’s just a little after 2 AM in the morning. This means I will stay up all night (more than likely) and will get a lot of work done (I hope), but will be sleepy again around noon time. If I go to sleep at noon and sleep for 5 or 6 hours; then I will be wide awake when it gets dark tonight and will probably have a hard time going to sleep tomorrow night. I know I’m not the only one that gets in these sleep cycle nightmares and they are tough to come out of. You either have to force yourself to sleep when you’re not sleepy or force yourself to stay awake longer when you’re sleepy. I guess I will just figure it out later when I have less energy and start to get tired. As you can see I didn’t burn my fat today; how was your day?

A sad story coming out of the state of Georgia where a man lost his life while hunting in the woods. Apparently a 68 year old man was in a tree stand and on his attempt to come down from the stand, he was bitten by a snake. The snake bite proved to be fatal as the man’s grandson tried to get him to safety by the use of an ATV or 4 wheeler. The 68 year old man continued to pass out on his journey out of the woods and would fall off the 4 wheeler. By the time emergency personnel had reach the man, he was unresponsive to their treatments and passed away.

The man’s name was Dick Rupert and he is from Winder, Georgia. I’m sure it’s been a rough weekend for his family, from this horrible hunting accident that occurred on Saturday morning in Oglethorpe County located in Georgia. Normally we think of a gun shot wound as a hunting accident, but there is many forms of hunting accidents that take place each year in Georgia and the rest of the country too. The hunting accident that ended Mr. Rupert’s life on Saturday was apparently caused from the venom of a snake; when it bit Dick Rupert on the calf. While most of us know that some snakes are poisonous, it is rare for them to actually kill people. Especially when someone goes for immediate medical treatment like in this case with Rupert’s hunting accident.

The people that are associated with this hunting accident are thinking the snake was a timber rattler (a type of rattlesnake); which are found commonly in Georgia. The picture above is one of a timber rattler and perhaps was a snake of this size that bit Mr. Rupert on the calf. If you look closely at the tail on the left side of the picture above, you can see how blunt the tail comes to an end. A rule of thumb with poisonous snakes, is that their tails will be very blunt at the end. This means that instead of the tail gradually decreasing in size near the tail, it comes to a drastic decrease at the end. A snake that isn’t poisonous would gradually decrease in size near the tail and would have a more symmetric looking body shape. This is only a rule of thumb and this isn’t 100% accurate all of the time. It is wise to just avoid all snakes, but especially the ones you find that have this quick and blunt tail look to them, like the timber rattler has in the picture above.

Rattle snakes are poisonous snakes and their venom can kill people. Most people know these snakes due to the rattler that is at the end of their tails and they will shake their tails causing a “rattle noise” that warns people and other animals that they are in the area. I’m not sure if the rattler was being heard Saturday morning when Dick Rupert was hunting in the woods of Georgia, but it is a sound you can hear very well. I would imagine the snake was just at the bottom of the tree stand and Mr. Rupert surprised the snake when he was climbing down and the snake felt threatened or got stepped on. This rattle snake probably didn’t have time to use their rattler, that would have surely warned Rupert to stay away and could have avoided this tragic story.

Let’s just hope Dick Rupert didn’t die in vain on Saturday and someone out there will learn from this accident. If we can use his story to warn other hunters the dangers that are out there and especially the dangers with snakes; then we can make the best out of a bad situation. The tree stands are great in the woods and give us the surprise factor over deer, but we do surprise the other animals in the woods too; when we use these tree stands. It sounds like this rattle snake made it’s way to the base of this tree stand and wasn’t expecting anything coming down from the tree. A snake senses are great about picking up vibrations from the ground; when a person or other animal is on the ground walking toward them. The snake in this story didn’t have a chance to really use it’s natural senses, since a hunter was coming down from a tree stand. If the timber rattler would have seen the hunter climbing down; then chances are the snake would have crawled away or used it’s rattler to warn the hunter of it’s presence.

What Makes the Doctors TV Show Popular?

How about free medical advice? Health care is one of the leading stories in the news these days and it’s become a focal point in American politics lately. President Obama will have his hands full with the health care concerns that are facing this country right now. It does cost money to be healthy in America these days. We have seen the media giant CNN do popular news stories on “Black in America” and “Hispanic in America“. Perhaps they could air a series called “Healthy in America” and lay out the obstacles that face each citizen in our country today. It isn’t cheap to get good health care and the average middle class family can’t afford proper medical treatment for each member of the household. It is refreshing to see a TV show like the Doctors come on each morning and provide us with a lot of answers to our medical questions.

Who Are the Doctors?

The doctor that starts each show and ends each show with his “doctor’s orders” is Travis Stork. He is the main doc on the panel and the one most audience and fan members associate with the show. Dr. Travis Stork is an ER (Emergency Room) doctor and this is his field of expertise. He is in his late 20′s and is the youngest doctor on the 4 doctor panel. The doctor that sits to Dr. Stork’s right hand side is Lisa Masterson. She is the only woman in the group and her expertise deals with the female and pregnant patients. If you continue around the table and go to the doctor that sits on Dr. Masterson’s right hand side, you would have Jim Sears. Doctor Sears deals with the younger patients in real life and his medical training is in the field of pediatrics. The last doctor on the panel or the one that sits next to Dr. Sears right hand side would be Drew Ordon. He is the doctor that deals with breast implants, rhinoplasty, and those touch-ups that help us to look younger. Dr. Ordon is a plastic surgeon and is able to give us his opinions from a surgeon’s point of view. These are the 4 main doctors we see on almost every episode and there are other doctors that make guest appearances from time to time on the Doctors TV show.

As you can see these 4 doctors cover a wide area of medical training for men and women and for the adults and children. They have a nice blend of experience and areas they specialize in; to give us solid advice on most medical subjects and questions. For those of you that watch the show regularly; is there one doctor that you like to watch or hear most? Since I am a man in my mid 30′s with few medical issues and I don’t have a wife or kids; then the advice I get from Dr. Stork tends to help me the most. I have been to the emergency room a few times with kidney stones and I can relate to some of the things Travis deals with; when you compare his medical expertise with the other 3 doctors. There really isn’t a lot of interest for a young male to hear about plastic surgery, giving birth to babies, or kid’s illnesses; which the other 3 doctors would be experts in. My vote would go for Dr. Travis Stork as the person that holds the most answers to my questions. I do find the other 3 doctors very educational and I think Dr. Jim Sears is the 2nd most important doctor on the panel in my opinion. Which 1 or 2 doctors provide you with the most answers? Replace One of the Doctors or Hire a New Doc? YOU DECIDE!

Let’s just say you purchased the rights to the show and now you’re the owner of the Doctors television show on ABC. You have the power to hire or fire anyone on the show that you wanted to. Is there one doctor that you would love to see get replaced? Perhaps it’s because they could never offer you any medical advice for your current situation or you don’t think they ever have anything good to offer to the show. Is there a doctor that has a different field of expertise and you think they would make a good addition to the show? Maybe you would prefer to only have 3 doctors or think the show would do better with 5 doctors? Which statement below best describes your feelings toward the show and how you think the Doctors could improve on their success already?

A. Leave it alone. It is perfect like it is. If it ain’t broke; don’t fix it.

B. Replace Dr. ________ and go find another doctor in the same medical field as him/her.

C. Replace Dr. ________ and get a doctor that has medical training in the field of __________.

D. Keep the 4 current doctors and add a 5th doctor that specializes in ___________.

E. Remove all of them except for Dr. ___________ because they are the main reason I watch.

My Grand Idea for Making the Doctors TV Show Better

My idea might not be too popular because I would look to replace a couple of the current doctors. I know this would be a big gamble, but my goal is to make the show better. I would still want to bring back the two doctors I replaced and get their imput on things from time to time.  So I’m not totally cutting them from the show, just relieving them of their everyday duties.

Before I tell you the two I would remove from the current panel, see if you can guess it, by the way I describe the perfect Doctors TV show. I think having doctors that provide the most help, for the the majority of the population, is what would get more people watching. Increasing the panel to 5 or 6 doctors would be too many and not enough time in 1 hour to get each opinion from a doctor on certain topics. I do think 4 is the perfect number. Now which doctors on the current panel could we do without or replace with doctors that cover a wider range of medical interests?

I think Dr. Ordon and Dr. Masterson would be the two doctors I would remove. I know the Doctors in filmed in California and plastic surgery is popular in that state, but not as popular in the other 49 states. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Dr. Ordon as a person and hearing his opinions on things. I just think replacing him for a doctor that could talk to more Americans would be better for my ratings; if I was the new owner of the show. The same goes for Lisa and I think her area of expertise only covers a small portion of medical concerns. She is the only woman on the Doctors television show, so I would need a female replacement or would want one to help balance the women’s point of views.

I think a chiropractor and dentist would be the two new doctors I would add to my Doctors TV show. We all have muscle strains or aches in the body at some point in our lives. A chiropractor would be a great addition to the show, to answer our aches questions and perhaps give advice on exercise tricks we could do at home to fix our own ailments. We all have teeth or I should say; at one time we all had teeth. A dentist would help cover more people in need, than the professional medical advice Dr. Masterson or Dr. Ordon could offer. I’m sure some of these topics were covered before the show ever made it to television and I wonder why they chose the panel they did? Is it because Dr. Ordon and Dr. Masterson has great “TV looks” or they actually wanted their medical knowledge on their chosen professions?

Do you guys understand what I am trying to say? I am a big fan of the current show and don’t want to see any of them go. Another TV network like CBS, FOX, or NBC could develop their own doctors show and cover some of these areas that the ABC Doctors show is leaving out. I know they have a dentist and other doctors that appear from time to time as needed. It just seems some big gaps got left out while some got filled that wasn’t really needed. I know more women watch day time television than men, so Lisa is good for the stay-at-home mommies watching. The other networks don’t mind copying each other either, so I won’t be surprised if a new doctors TV show does appear in the near future. A new doctors TV show starting from scratch could have an elderly doctor that is a family doctor as their main guy. There isn’t even a regular doctor on the Doctors and only Travis would qaulify andhe’s the youngest of the docs. While I do think there is lots of room for improvement, I understand the problems ABC would face; since Travis, Jim, Drew, and Lisa are becoming household names.

Travis and Lisa Love Affair?

Now surely I am not the only one that thinks these two flirt witheach other. People in love with each other have a hard time hiding it and I believe there might be something cooking between Lisa Masterson andTravis Stork. I do know on the episode they were talking about women being better with driving directions than men; it was Travis that pointed out him and Lisa were lost andhe told her that the ocean was in the direction of west. So Travis did let a little something slip or did he? Apparently Travis has did other things with the other doctors on the panel too. I just thought I would throw this in at the end andsee if anyone else thought something was up with these two?

If you have never seen the Doctors on ABC; then you really need to set the DVR to record it each day and after a few episdoes, I think you will get hooked too. This is a great and educational show that can keep us more healthy and could even save our lives too! I think the Doctors is the most important show we have on our television sets today. This is must watch TV and I hope all families make it a part of their families daily TV habits. This show does provide great medical advice, tips, and answers to our questions.

 

If there was ever two things that went together like peanut butter and jelly, I guess you would have to say Jack Nicholson and the Los Angeles Lakers are like two peas in a pod. Not often do I think about Jack and not think about the guys out in L.A. that sport the purple and gold on the hardwood. Usually when I think of the Lakers or see them playing basketball on TV, it doesn’t take long after my Kobe Bryant thoughts to think about their biggest fan. Jack Nicholson is the biggest Lakers fan there is and he is probably the biggest celebrity sports fan in the world. As popular as he is as a movie star with big movies like Easy Rider, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Batman; we also see Jack as a huge NBA fan. I actually wasn’t that familiar with Jack Nicholson movies when I was younger and I knew him as a court side fan of the Los Angeles Lakers first. I knew he was important, but really wasn’t sure why the cameras would always point toward him.

It didn’t take me too long to know who Jack was and what he meant to Hollywood. I was flipping through channels late one night about 20 years ago and saw that a movie was about to come on. It was on TBS or TNT and there really wasn’t anything on TV that I wanted to see that night. Since this movie was just starting (because I hate watching a movie halfway in) I thought I would just leave it on this channel and try to get interested in this movie. The name of the movie was The Shining and I thought it was the greatest. I was glad that I decided to watch it and this is a really good movie. After I saw that the guy from the Lakers game was in it; it actually made me want to watch it more and try to learn why he was so famous. I’m not really sure what people consider as the best Jack Nicholson movie, but I would have to say The Shining from 1980 was the best movie he has ever done. Now he has a long list of good movies and I like them too, I just thought this movie had that little extra and there isn’t no one who could have played this role better than Jack Nicholson.

Have you ever seen The Shining before? This is a must-see picture if you haven’t been lucky enough to find it showing on TV. I really haven’t seen it come on television lately and you may need to order it online. The movie is currently available at Buy.com and they do have it in DVD format. Unless you get lucky and find one on sale at a flea market or yard sale; your best bet is probably to order the movie online. Even though this movie is about 30 years old, it is still a work of art in 2009. I’m sure it will entertain movie watchers as much now as it did back in 1980.

I guess the Love Boat’s lyrics weren’t quite like that, but this is no love boat. The popular TV show from the 1980′s called the Love Boat had a theme song that sang “Come Aboard. We’re Expecting You”. I guess this is the message the French Navy could have said to some Pirates on the high seas. It appears some Somali Pirates mistaken the ship at night time and thought they were seeing a cargo ship. They probably thought a ship that size would have some good stuff on it, so in the middle of the night they attacked the ship with light firearms and tried to overtake the ship. However, there was one big problem. The ship they saw on the ocean was no cargo ship and didn’t have people on board that were going to hand it over so easily. It was a French Naval ship and they had little problems fending off the pirate intruders. When the pirates saw their mistake, they tried to flee, but after a 1 hour chase on the waters, the pirates were captured.

I guess to put in some perspective of how these pirates messed up; would be to think of a group of bank robbers trying to rob an Army base on land and thinking it was a bank. As funny as this story is and the humilation and trouble these pirates will be facing, this is another sign that pirates still exist on the high seas in the 21st century. Off the coast of Somali is where most of these pirates come from and it’s become a breeding ground for this tiny nation. More steps need to be done to stop these guys that think they can just rob ships as they pass by their coastlines. No nation really hasn’t took the lead in stopping these pirate attacks. It seems each country just deals with it when it’s their ship, goods, or crewmen that are involved. We need the bigger countries of the world to sit down and come together on a strategy to stop Somali Pirates from attacking ships in this area of the world. Sitting around and waiting for the next attack is not the way to handle this and some one needs to step up and settle these view points on Somali grounds. No one should have to fear the next time they decide to take a cruise and no company should be transporting goods across our oceans with people like this in the world.

How many rooms in your home do you have a Ceiling Fan rotating around in? I hope your answer isn’t too high, because for each one of those fans you have hanging in your house, there is some cleaning work that has to be done on them. I’m not sure how it does it, but the top of those ceiling fan blades is a magnet for dirt and dust. Anyone that owns a ceiling fan knows exactly what I am talking about and it’s incredible to see the amount of dust that can collect on them. You would think that dust would just fly off when the fan was on or in action, but for some reason it just stays glued up there.

I do like the stores that sell ceiling fans and when they have a nice selection they have took out of the box and hung up for customers to see in action. Normally you can walk down an aisle and be under several ceiling fans at one time. It just looks like a place you could lay down and take a nap; when you see these stores that display them like this. I’m sure there is an employee that has to climb up on a ladder and keep them looking so clean for the customers. As nice as they look in stores, you can find better selections and prices if you do your buying online or check out the ones Hansen Wholesale Ceiling Fans has to offer. Just remember the more fans you have and the more blades each one has; means that much more cleaning you will have to do. If you need to make a tough decision on two fans that you like and one has 5 blades and one has 4 blades; then by all means go with the 4 blade fan! I have seen some with 3 blades, so don’t over look them either.

I think the dirt-free ceiling fan would be a good seller and I would take mine down and replace it; if there was such a thing. One blogger talked negatively about a woman with a little bit of fame and now that blogger is facing the justice system for defamation of character. Since this case got brought to court and with the new FTC guidelines that will be enforced now; a blogger isn’t free to say whatever they would like to on their blogs.

I wonder how many sports teams could use these new laws to their advantage? I love to watch sports and love my local teams. When my local teams and favorite sports athletes do something great, I praise them and applaud them. However, when they stink it up and aren’t winning games, I let it be known which players and coaches are messing up and how we would be better off without them. This is just a part of sports and we all scream or yell at our favorite team or players at some point. If too many people get on the computer and use their blogs to downgrade or talk bad about an athlete, this could actually cause a team to cut them, trade them, or offer them a lesser contract. We could actually have a say in what a player makes or if they are on our team or not. Now if a famous athlete gets a bad rap online and a blogger talks too negatively about them, you could make the argument that the athlete would have his/her day in court too.

Let’s get real FTC and wake up. Bloggers are super for online purposes and their good deeds out weigh the bad deeds by leaps and bounds. If you’re craving a nice pecan pie and would like a recipe for it, where are you going to go? You will probably use a search engine to find pecan pie recipes. Who do you think plays a part in which pecan pie recipes get listed high in the search results and which ones don’t make the first page? There’s a good chance that a blogger has a pecan pie recipe on their blog and you will find it on the first page of your search engine search results. If the pecan pie recipe isn’t on a blog; then there is a chance that a blogger helped that recipe get listed high on the search engine in other ways. The bloggers keep the search engines filled with great and fast information that anyone can use for free. I guess it’s not really free since you pay for a monthly connection to the Internet, but you’re free to use the search engines as much as possible for no extra charges.

These new FTC rules for bloggers is drawing a line in the sand and it’s one we don’t need. I mean once you say it’s no longer allowed to vouch for a product or service, you’re creating avenues that could make it illegal to say simple, ordinary phrases that we say everyday. What about the blogger that comes on the computer the Friday after the Thanksgiving Day feast and talks about how great their Thanksgiving meal was. When that blogger says their parents made the best turkey and dressing they have ever ate, this could be illegal. Wouldn’t we have to track down the parents of this blogger and see if they gave their child any money to say that? If Mom or Dad gave them a gift or some cash when they came over for the Thanksgiving Dinner; then you would have to make sure their gift didn’t affect the blogger’s words about how great the meal was. Do we really have time and money to track down these folks each day and find out who is telling a lie and who is telling the truth?

I guess the FTC has never seen an infomercial on television before. Is an infomercial legal? Yes, it is because they do go through steps placing small messages at the bottom of the screen that make it legal. The TV station that you see the infomercial on will even run their tag before the infomercial comes on, stating they don’t endorse any claims that this next program states. Why do we still see these ridiculous infomercials that normally run for 30 mintues still on our TV channels? That is actually a simple answer. The reasons we keep seeing these dumb infomercials and bad acting jobs is because they work. It’s as simple as that. As much as we laugh and make fun of these products that try to sell their products through infomercials, the sad fact is they work and actually do make money for these products. I think banning infomercials would be better than going after people who endorse products for money.

People should have the right to spend their money on anything that isn’t going to cause harm or damage to their self or others. If someone wants to pay someone else money to say they like and use their product a lot; then I see no problems with that. Each person got to decide if they wanted to do it or not and there was no guns being pointed at anyone’s head.

If Michael Jordan (the great basketball player) says he drinks a certain sports drink and it gives him energy and made him to play basketball better. It is up to the consumers to determine if a sports drink would give them energy or make them play basketball better. Most of us normal folks know that no drink, food, or exercise routine is going to have us shooting and dunking a basketball like the great Michael Jordan. The few people that do believe this will happen because MJ said it himself; then these are the people that need help. Hey FTC, most of us are normal and don’t need anymore government in our life. For these few people that you’re trying to protect; why don’t you just spend your time and resources getting these folks some professional help and leave Michael Jordan and bloggers alone!

The long hot days of summer are gone and the really cold weather hasn’t got here yet. Now is the perfect time to start chopping down trees and getting the firewood ready for the fireplace. It’s no fun chopping wood in the winter time or when the weather is nasty outside with a cold rain or snow falling. There are other things we can do now to get our electric fireplaces, wood burning fireplaces, or if you have an Amish fireplace or any other type of fireplace, ready for the winter. The cleaning part can be done now on your fireplaces. Taking a little soap and water and giving your fireplace a good wash down is something you can do during the fall time of the year. You might want to get a broom and dust pan out first and get rid of the big stuff and ashes from the fireplace. Doing a good job now cleaning up the fireplace can save you the hassle from doing it in the middle of winter.

This is why it’s wise to prepare more wood than you think you will use, in case things do get rough this year. Halloween is still 4 weeks away and most people should have at least a month, if they start now, on getting up a bunch of firewood. Remember that failing to prepare is preparing to fail and none of us will fail if we make the proper preparations now.

This study concludes that Norway is the top country to live in and the United States is listed at 13 on the list. I think most Americans are happy and would not want to live in another country. It is surprising to see 12 other countries listed higher than the U.S. in this latest study.

I was looking at Yahoo’s homepage and saw this recent news today. I’m sure the people that own businesses geared toward the tourism in Norway are happy to see Norway on top of the list. I would like to visit all of the Scandinavian countries some day and Norway would certainly be one of them. I think it would be a cool experience to travel to Norway and take in the local scenery and food Norway has to offer. I’m always looking for great food and seeing which countries are known for fine cooking. The residents living in Norway do know how to prepare some delicious meals. I think anytime is a good time to experience some Norwegian cuisine and I personally would list Norway very high on my top travel destinations I would like to make some day.
