Dairy Queen the home of the tasty frozen treats we love to eat in the summer time did a very nice thing recently. I wasn’t aware of it at the time and just saw a TV commercial last night about their latest promotion with the Childrens Miracle Network. The promotion was for August 7th and I had no idea what they were doing. I wished they would have advertised for this better and I think the results could have been much better. Perhaps they will do their Blizzard promotion again and I can take advantage of this worthy cause.

The Dairy Queen Blizzard is now a staple product for this company and if you haven’t never tried a Blizzard before, you really must give it a try. I love the chocolate chip cookie dough Blizzard, but really all of them are great! Now on August 7th (which has already passed), the people from Dairy Queen was going to donate 1 dollar for each Blizzard they sold on that day. All of the money was going to go to the Children’s Miracle Network and this was a very nice gesture. I wish more fast food establishments and places like Dairy Queen would donate to charities like this and get the public involved. Most of us don’t have huge sums of money we can donate to a charity, but we still want to help. A promotion like this gives us a tasty frozen treat; while we know $1 of our purchase would be going to the Children’s Miracle Network. A very worthy cause and one that does need our support. Let’s hope this promotion was very successful and Dairy Queen can alert more people to this promotion if they decide to do it in the future. I also challenge other restaurants to select an item on their menu; where some of the money can get donated to a worth charity.

A key to losing weight is exercising and being more active than you normally are. Some may find increased activity levels after they take some of their favorite diet pills. You can find more and more solutions to help you lose weight. The only thing that is going to help is your ability to stay on the plan.

No matter where you may be at in the World you’re at risk for the new swine flu virus that is quickly spreading. The case is no different for those serving in the military and they have to be on the look out for the signs of swine flu too. Just recently a few troops in Iraq serving for the U.S. Military showed signs of this new flu virus that has everyone’s attention. A few tests were did and officials would come to find out, that this was the real deal in Iraq.

The problem isn’t going away for these troops serving in Iraq either, because the latest results show that the swine flu is increasing overseas. Now the government is reporting that 67 confirmed cases of swine flu is present in Iraq and these numbers may go a lot higher in the near future.

The good news is that this new flu virus isn’t that deadly and most can survive from it; if treated properly with medications. The bad news is that it appears everyone will get the swine flu in the coming years and the troops in Iraq are seeing this first hand. It’s bad enough that our young men and women have to be on the front lines of fighting terrorism and now they are on the front lines in the battle against swine flu. Before the month of August is over, we could learn that over 100 U.S. Troops have contracted this awful new virus. Just how far those numbers continue to rise, no one knows for sure right now.

It’s difficult in the military to control; since the troops do work and live very closely together. The fears we are seeing with swine flu in Iraq will probably turn to our U.S. school systems. The children are just now going back to school and even though winter is still several months away, school officials all across the country are fearing the worse from swine flu. A classroom can have 20 to 40 students all sitting close to each other and if one kid gets the swine flu; then chances are that many others in that same room will contract swine flu too. The kids get the swine flu at school and then bring it home to their families and pretty soon everyone is infected with this new virus. The attention is on the troops in Iraq now and it should be interesting to see which school in America gets first claims of a swine flu incident this school year and what actions they take to control it. We may see entire schools shutting down all across the nation as swine flu becomes a real problem for school kids and our soldiers overseas.

We all know that diamonds are a girl’s best friend but are they really? Lots of ladies wear diamond rings, but it seems they are most proud about their pearl necklaces or even earrings made of pearls. The pearls tend to strike up more of a conversation than the diamonds do on the finger. Perhaps it’s the fact that pearls stick out more while being worn around the neck or on the ears with earrings. Fashion earrings jewelry is always a favorite with women. They seem to be more proud of the jewelry hanging from their ears; than any other pieces they may have on. We may have to go back and vote again on the subject of diamonds being a girl’s best friend. The new choice may be pearls or it may still be diamonds, but diamond earrings instead of the typical rings with diamonds.

Wrestling Trophies is a great way to reward that son for a job well done on the wrestling mat. Volleyball Trophies is perfect for the daughter that went to practice everyday and did her best to help the team win. It’s great that America is filled with all kinds of sports and that our school systems support most of these sports. Surveys and studies have both shown that kids that actively participate in sports are less likely to get into trouble. All parents should try to find a sport or a hobby that their kids can get excited about and it’s really great when they can achieve some level that is worthy of a trophy.

I grew up playing sports and it continues to be a big part of my life. For the most part, I have stayed out of trouble and I’m sure sports had a lot to do with it. The first sport I ever played was baseball. I was in 2nd grade and half the team went to the same school as I did. We had a perfect season as the Yankees team in the local Pee Wee League. After our perfect season of 16 wins and no losses, we all got trophies for our first place accomplishments. I was so excited to get that trophy, I couldn’t wait to get more. I wasn’t that talented in baseball and soon learned basketball was more my sport. I got several trophies for basketball over the years playing on teams or in basketball camps I attended. By the time my teen years and sports playing years were over, I had racked up about 10 trophies. I still have them today and each one holds a special memory for me.

Your child may play with a good football team and earn a trophy on their own, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give them an individual trophy if the team didn’t succeed. I don’t think it’s bad for a soccer coach to buy his team soccer trophies; even if they don’t win a single game. We can reward our youth for effort and it isn’t always measured in wins or loses. I hope parents do encourage their kids to play sports and will reward them with trophies when the time is appropriate.

The old Soviet Union must have got their feelings hurt due to all the attention that has been focused on Iran and North Korea lately. They also want the world to look at them as a hostile nation too. The Russians now have two nuclear submarines that are patrolling the waters off the east coast of the United States. A Russian General has confirmed this and wanted to make sure that this news made it into the media stream of the U.S..

It’s no big secret what certain countries are trying to do behind close doors. Russia is out of the loop and isn’t aware of our knowledge we have on them. Hurricane Katrina was caused by a direct Russian attack. The use of weather in war is a new toy for the Russian nation and they are the ones that caused Hurricane Katrina. They are sending low-frequency waves into the atmosphere which cause one layer in the atmosphere to expand and change jet stream patterns. Changing these high velocity winds known as the jet stream can bring on drought or severe weather to certain parts of the world. The Russians caused a terrible drought to occur in California many years ago with this tactic of using weather as a weapon of war. We got to see their ruthless tactics again when Hurricane Katrina was directed to our shores from Russian interference.

The U.S. launched it’s own weather-changing patterns right after Katrina and set up a high-pressure area off the coast of Florida. This directed all hurricanes away from the U.S. coastlines the following year after Hurricane Katrina. The U.S. continues to have to deal with Russia’s tactics on trying to cause problems in the 21st century. The invasion of Georgia was unacceptable actions by the nation that use to rule over Georgia and we haven’t forgot about this latest deed either.

The flight patterns of Russian bombers and the presence of Russian submarines off the coast of the United States is not actions of a friendly nation and not a country you want to eagerly help. No military action will be taken right now as long as the Russian nation continues to actively talk with other countries about trying to harm the United States of America. Lots of good intel is being gathered right now and the U.S. won’t lose this connection; while Russia continues these cold war tactics. A harsh future does await the officials of Russia; when all of the evidence gets brought before a table of world leaders to condem the Russian nation and other nations that are actively partcipating in talks with the former Soviet Union.

I recently obtain some items from BugZip to try and see how well it did against bed bugs. I was very impressed with the quality of their products and just how easy they were to use. I just got back from camping and I have no fears that I brought back anything with me that I shouldn’t have. Bill Clinton Rescues Reporters in North Korea

You can say what you want to about Bill Clinton, but I think the man has redeemed his horrible political ratings. I’m not sure what Time Magazine has in store for their “Man of the Year” award for 2009; but let me be the first one to say Bill Clinton is the man of the year! His bravery deserves top honors as he brings home two American citizens from the grips of a hostile North Korean nation.

Laura Ling is the young lady on the left (green shirt) and Euna Lee (red shirt) was the other American journalist that has been held against their will for the last 5 months. It was outrageous that these two women, being American citizens, would be held hostage for bogus crimes they didn’t commit. I wished more could have been done sooner to free these ladies and take away all the stresses their families have had to endure over these past few months they had to wait for justice. The wait is over and they are finally coming back home!

FREE AT LAST!

I feel proud as an American today that we didn’t forget about these 2 reporters. Euna Lee and Laura Ling did nothing wrong and they were just trying to do their jobs. A nation like North Korea that has lost touch with the rest of the world; took away the freedom these ladies have by being citizens of the United States of America. I hope this story gives hope to other Americans that might get in trouble while overseas or in another country. The U.S. is a very powerful nation and that power is no good unless we use it every now and then.

For some reason the White House is trying to take credit and they are speaking publicly about negotiations that went on behind close doors. Why they are trying to take credit for this joyful occasion I have no idea. I am not a Rupublican or a Democrat, just an ordinary American citizen like Laura Ling and Euna Lee are. Our government isn’t to credit for this bravery we have witnessed on Wednesday in Asia. It was Bill Clinton that got on the plane and met with the officials in North Korea and worked out an agreement to bring back our hostages. If the White House wants to try and take credit for this courageous rescue; then Barack Obama should have been on that plane. Obama has already taken one vacation to Hawaii and most recently at Camp David. We have seen Obama throwing out pitches at All Star Baseball games and sitting on Air Force One with Willie Mays talking about baseball. Obama is spending our tax payer’s money on ads that certain Republicans that have made comments against him and his health care bill he is trying to get passed. Barack Obama is not in touch with the economy and is showing very little concern as America is fast approaching the gutters of an economical crisis. It’s not all Obama’s fault and other politicians are to blame too, but I don’t like seeing the tax payer’s money on those negative commercials. Who cares about Barack Obama anyways; when we have an ex-president like Bill Clinton mopping up the White House mistakes.

Bill Clinton: Man of the Year?

I’m sure most Republicans would agree that Bill Clinton deserves the Man of the Year award for simply being married to Hillary Clinton. I might just agree with them there, but who else has done more than Bill Clinton did on August 5th? The man risked his own life and security to free 2 American journalists. Only 2 was being held hostage and we didn’t have dozens being held against their will or no children was involved. Does the United States wait another 5 months if Bill Clinton was taken prisoner by this hostile nation? I think we would have seen a more immediate action if that would have played out on Wednesday, but luckily Bill, Laura, and Euna are sipping a cold, wet beverage on a plane that is bound for the U.S.A.. This whole episode played out way too long and we should be angry that this problem wasn’t resolved sooner.

I am glad that it is over now and Bill Clinton rescued the hostages in North Korea. I hope these ladies weren’t harmed in no way and the North Korean officials took good care of them. Bill Clinton does deserve the Man of the Year Award by Time Magazine and anyone else that pays tribute to acts of bravery. I know we will never forget Clinton’s past, but he does deserve all the credit for facing evil eye to eye today and taking a stand for American Justice! Thank you very much William Jefferson Clinton and welcome home Euna Lee and Laura Ling!

A quick class on CPR is something everyone should consider doing. You never know when this life-saving tactic could be used in your home or in a public place to save someone’s life. It isn’t hard to get certified in CPR and just knowing the basics can go a long ways. You aren’t expected to know how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) at an emergency scene, but you should be able to give a couple of breaths to a person not breathing and know how to pump on their chest. Most people know what doing CPR is about, but knowing the  little things can go a long ways in saving a person’s life. You’re not pressing on a person’s chest to pump air out the esophagus to dislodge an item that might be hung in the air passages. You’re actually pressing down on the chest to keep oxygen going to the vital organs and preventing them from shutting down. You need to give mouth to mouth to put a little air in the victim’s lungs; then about 25 to 30 presses on the chest plate will help keep oxygen circulating in the body. Repeating these steps over and over until a real medical worker arrives on the scene can be huge. I think everyone should learn how to perform CPR and especially for parents with small children in their households. Hopefully you will never have to use this medical tactic, but be prepared in case you do!

I like pizza as much as the next guy but there does come a time when enough is enough. This is what Dallas Cowboy fans can expect when they try to order a pizza this upcoming season. The NFL season is still several weeks away, but the people selling pizzas at the new Cowboy Stadium should be happy (if they get any takers). They will be charging $90 for a pizza to the fans, companies, or organizations that rent out those nice luxury boxes. It’s still not clear what the extra toppings will cost and the $90 will get you a rounded piece of dough with some cheese on it. These high prices don’t stop with the pizza either and beer drinkers may want to drink sodas on football Sundays. A 12 pack of domestic beer will cost patrons about $66 at the new Dallas Cowboys football stadium. If you’re doing the math at home; then you and a buddy can get a pizza and 6 beers each for about $160! Prices like this should have a lot of Cowboy fans eating before the game and no one should pay $90 for a pizza.

A good seafood restaurant with salad bar and all the beverages you can drink will generally cost under $50 in most parts of the country (this includes Dallas too). I think I would rather have three nice seafood dinners (which would be cheaper) than a few slices of pizza with beers. Perhaps someone should have told the Dallas Cowboys that they aren’t even expected to make the playoffs this year. Tony Romo is not a quarterback that can lead a team into the playoffs alone and his biggest weapon Terrell Owens now calls the Buffalo Bills home. No TO in Dallas does equal no playoffs for Jerry Jones and the boys. A team that isn’t going to make the playoffs this year and they want $90 for a pizza; may reflect how some people tied to the organization has no clue about the current economy or the residents of Dallas. I’m sure a few people could afford these $90 pizzas, but hopefully they will not give-in to these outrageous prices at the new Dallas Cowboy’s stadium this year. If I make any road trips for an NFL game this year, I may just want to see the Buffalo Bills play at home, where I can get $10 Buffalo Wings and get to see a better team too!

I am a long ways from being called an “computer expert” and something as simple as PDF is something that is over my head. I do have a program on my computer that helps me to read certain documents and you do have to have something that can read PDF files or the way a certain program is formated.

The program I use is the adobe pdf and this is the most commonly program I see for reading PDF files. They may be others out there or Adobe may be the only one. I’m just not sure, but I do know most computer users need a PDF program to read certain files. The version that Adobe provides does work on Apple, Linux, or Windows. I have Windows on my computer and the Adobe is very compatible with it and easy to use.

If you have found a file in the past that you couldn’t read and needed a special program to open it; then chances are the Adobe one would work for you. You can find various places online to get a pdf reader and if you haven’t got one yet; then I do suggest adding this valuable program to your computer system.

I did a search on “pdf” and seen that Wikipedia has some good information on this subject. The letters P-D-F stand for Portable Document Format and I have used my Adobe program to read dozens of files that my computer would not recognize. Chances are you have done the same if you spend a lot of time surfing around on the World Wide Web. For those that like to print information online, you can be asking a lot of your printers to print everything you see on your screens. You save a lot of printer ink by just printing out the pdf print and not including a lot of the fancy graphics or pictures you don’t need. My printer is super fast when I just print a page that can be opened in pdf format. Something like a food recipe is perfect for printing in the pdf version; rather than getting a lot of other information that you don’t really need.

PDF may seem as foreign to you as it is to me. I do know that it’s a part of the Internet and something everyone should brush up on. It is easy to learn about pdf and I saw lots of information online about it. It’s nothing to be scared about and if you get that Adobe program on your computer; you will see just how easy it is to read these pdf documents. I do hope this information will be helpful for you and your next encounter with a pdf file will be a pleasant one.

It’s time to go buy new threads for the family and you have a little money to spend, so where do you go? Do you like to go to the local mall or clothing stores in your area? Or do you find some of the best clothing bargains online? I know it’s much easier to shop for clothes online and no need to worry about finding a good parking space when you shop online. I also like the fact that I can shop late at night; when most apparel stores are closed for the day. I’m a night owl, so it’s much easier for me to get in the shopping mood late at night or other activities I need to get done. I have a lot of luck with men’s clothing I see online and some of the prices are better than the local clothing stores in my area.

I don’t do a lot of shopping for women’s clothing online and was wondering if the ladies have as much luck as I do? If you’re a female that shops for clothes online, please feel free to let me know the success rate you have for finding bargains. I know shopping is a big passion for most women and if anyone would know the best places to shop for clothes online; then they would certainly know. I think some women would shop 7 days a week if they had the money and I bet the majority of their purchases would be made from their computers. You don’t have the comfort of trying things on (while shopping online), but if you know your size, then shopping online does make the most sense. Even after you pay for the shipping costs, you can still find most items cheaper than the local department stores would be offering.

I don’t have any children, but I’m sure parents have been shopping a lot for the kids recently. I have seen a lot of TV commercials for the back to school bargains that are available in most states right now. If you can talk your kids into waiting a few weeks, you may find better bargains in September than August. The boys and girls clothing that doesn’t sell too well right now, should be a lot cheaper next month as stores try to clear their racks of school clothing.  I know the kids want brand new threads to wear back to school and I don’t blame them. Buying a few outfits is fine, just don’t blow the whole clothing budget on clothes right now. Wait for the new sales, specials, and bargains to appear after school has started and then you can rack up on the savings. Your girls will love to go shopping and will be something they can look forward to down the road. Just get the boys around the computer and you can shop for their clothes online and you won’t have to bother dragging them to the mall for new clothes. What is the best shows or channels to watch late at night or after midnight? I have a lot of things I like to watch late at night and most of these shows only come on in the wee hours of the morning or very late at night. The shows that try to sell coins, knives, or baseball cards always catches my eye. I like to watch them, even though I rarely order anything from them. I like to collect various things and you can’t go wrong with the U.S. coins you see on TV late at night. I have a modest coin collection and most of my coins are before 1950, but I have collected a few since those years. Watching the coin show or a show selling knives or baseball cards is fun to watch and these are some of the TV shows I like to watch after the midnight hours.

A good movie always is good too. Lots of good movies come on late at night and I have several movie channels available with my satellite system I can pick up. I am a fan of the Discovery Channel, Military Channel, and the History Channel. These shows often show the latest military weapons or technology that is being used today. It’s fun to watch the history of our country too and things that happened before I was even born. I never liked history much while going to school, but I am now a big fan of the subject. My thirst for knowledge has increased over time and really wished I could do my high school days over again. I would be a much better student the 2nd time around; than I was the first time. The animal shows are also good and I will tune in to them sometimes. I hate snakes, but love the shows that feature snakes. Seeing the venom they carry or just how big they can get in some parts of the world is fascinating. The animals in Africa are very interesting, but I don’t think I would ever want to plan a camping trip to the jungles of Africa. I feel a lot safer just watching it from home and no fear of dying while watching it on TV. What is some of the shows you like to watch on TV after midnight? I think this is the best time to watch television and always look forward to watching TV all night long; when I do get the chance to do it.
