Before you travel during the holiday season make sure that you have a backup plan as what happened last year could reoccur and leave passengers stranded during the holiday season. You have specific rights as a passenger that airlines are not eager to tell you about so you need to ask for those passenger rights and make sure that they give you what you are entitled too. There will be thousands of travelers this upcoming season that will be better prepared and know that they do not have to sit around and wait for the airline to do something.

Last year we completed a trip for the holidays and we were one of those families you saw on TV stranded in Denver, as airlines were trying to dig out of the mess that the blizzard left behind. It was nice that the Denver airport was decorated all throughout in various Christmas lights that at least made it somewhat memorable. It seemed that everyone we talked to with the airline failed to remember that we were traveling during Christmas and they felt that there was no special assistance to help those who’s flights had been canceled any additional help. We were told that we would not be able to get out of Denver until December 27.

That was not going to work, so we started going to gates of flights that were scheduled to depart and go on standby. Luck was on our side as the first flight we approached put us on the plane, and we were on our way. What is frustrating is that the airlines, did not see to it that were booked on that flight, but that the standard response was that there were no flights. So in your travels do not take what the operator tells you, and take your fate into you’re own hands.

A new school year is now in progress and many changes have come for the kids. They have new teachers, will need to make new friends, their classrooms are in new places, and they probably have a  new Locker too. It can be a little stressful with so many new changes for our school children. If we can find any ways to relieve those stresses any; then we really owe it to our kids to do so.

Their new lockers will need a new lock for this year and buying a padlock with a key is not the best choice. The combination locks are the best ones to use for School Lockers and this is the ones the parents need to buy for their kids this year. Most of these combination locks have a 3 number system for opening up the magical combination. There usually isn’t a lot of time between classes, so kids need to figure out their locker combinations quickly. This will allow them to access their lockers as fast as possible and get the things out they need for the next class or store books they don’t need anymore for the school day. Remembering their locker combination can be difficult and its no fun when you can’t recall your locker combination. You need to make sure your kids understand how to work their combination locks and which numbers they need to turn the dial to for opening the locks.

Perhaps you have had trouble in the past with remembering a locker combination and could give some good tips on how you remembered your locker combination? Please feel free to offer any tips or advice for remembering a lock combination on your locker at school or your Gym Lockers. I have always liked sports, so I could just remember jersey numbers from my favorite sports players and know which 3 numbers I needed to use to unlock my lock in high school. This worked well for me and remembering things by association is a good way to remember locker combinations or things on a school test too. If your son or daughter doesn’t play or watch sports; then you may have to try another angle with this method. The most important thing is that they do remember their locker combinations and don’t have it written down, where other school kids can get their combinations. It’s not a good idea to write it on a piece of paper or in a book. This isn’t good for security purposes and can easily be lost. Using an ink pen to write your locker combination on your skin is not good either and this presents health concerns and should be avoided by all students. The best place to store your locker combination is in your head and this will prove to be the best way for students to get fast and secured access to their lockers.

Does either one of those statements represent the way you feel right now? Perhaps you remember the Pan Am Bomber that was responsible for 270 people losing their life. His name was Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Megrahi and it was him that caused Pan Am Flight 103 to go down in Lockerbie, Scotland as it left London’s Heathrow Airport on Wednesday December 21, 1988. The flight was headed to JFK Airport in New York, but never made it due to the bomb that was placed on board the flight. All 243 passengers aboard the flight were killed; plus 16 crew members and 11 people on the ground in Southern Scotland lost their life that day too. Just a horrible accident over the European skies and no one could have ever imagined that the person responsible for this tragic event would be released from prison.

The Pan Am Bomber was serving a life-sentence in Scotland for his actions, but has been set free by the courts there on August 20th of 2009. He has been diagnosed with a form of prostate cancer that is terminal. Doctors believe the Pan Am Flight 103 Bomber has less than 3 months to live and based on his health conditions; they have decided to release and return him back to his homeland located in the country of Libya. Does this sound like justice to you? Should he been allowed to leave his prison cell in Scotland and return to his native country of Libya?

I don’t imagine the families that had to suffer through that winter catastrophe back in 1988 are too pleased with the latest news coming out of Scotland. Here is a man that will get to be free and do as he pleases for the next 3 months or so, while he waits for this cancer to take his life away; while 270 people lost their life in a blink of an eye on that awful Wednesday 21 years ago. He really doesn’t deserve no sympathy for all the heartache and pains he has caused so many people and all the innocent lives he has taken away from his own direct actions. Not only did he get released from his confinements in Scotland, but gets a trip back to Libya, where he is probably most comfortable.

Hopefully other nations are taking notes of this release of the Pan Am Flight 103 Bomber and will hold Scotland responsible for the miseries that this man created for the citizens of Lockerbie and everyone that was aboard that flight. The grieving families now have 2 parties they can direct their hate and anger toward and Scotland has opened theirself up to this new-found anger by releasing one of the world’s most deadly murderers of the 20th century. I think I can find better countries to do business with and their products are no longer welcomed in my household. I hope other people and countries take steps to isolate Scotland for their actions to set a man free that doesn’t deserve the light of day.

The southern portions of California have beautiful weather year round. I think many residents living in San Francisco, San Diego, or even Los Angeles could save money on transportation by owning a motorcycle. I have never broke any bones in my body, but from what I hear they are painful. A new study coming out of Milwaukee today is showing ibuprofen as a better pain reliever in kids; than a narcotic medication containing codeine. Kids did better with their pain, appetites, and activity levels on ibuprofen; than a codeine pain reliever such as Tylenol 3. I’m not sure if this study plans to use adults next, but I did find it surprising.

I have to deal with kidney stones and ibuprofen doesn’t work too well in these cases. I would imagine a broken arm feels pretty painful too and I think I would prefer the strongest pain medication possible. Especially during the first day and would want something strong for any medical procedures that would need to be performed. I would hate to sit still for a casting process; while only having ibuprofen as my pain relief.

You can buy ibuprofen over the counter in popular name brand products like Advil or Motrin. Parents might want to keep these types of drugs in stock, just in case their children do break an arm or something else at home. They could give this medication immediately and would probably help control the pain; while you made your way to the emergency room. I think doctors at most emergency rooms would give kids a shot of something more powerful than ibuprofen and codeine too. I know I get pain meds that are stronger than codeine for my kidney stones and doctors would want to relax the crying child as soon as possible.

The study from Wisconsin is for a child’s broken arm during the first 3 days of the break. I do believe most doctors would administer something much stronger than ibuprofen in the first hours of the break and may send them home with a prescription for codeine or a higher dose of ibuprofen; that you couldn’t buy over the counter. Parents would be wise to use ibruprofen after day 1 and try avoiding codiene or stronger narcotics, since they are habit-forming and very addictive drugs. The test did involve more than 300 children, so these are some good signs that ibuprofen is an effective pain reliever and something we can all buy over the counter. Stronger pain relievers can cause drowzy side-effects and curb appetites and the latest studies on ibuprofen do prove ibuprofen is far better in controlling these 2 problems. I’m just not quite sold on the pain relief efforts and something as serious as a broken arm, that most patients would experience in the first couple of hours of the break.

I am fascinated with online advertising and online auction sites; where buyers and sellers can both benefit by the millions and millions of people on computers these days. If you have a boat or want to sell a motorhome; then you can advertise to a much greater audience online. This works much better for both parties (buyers and sellers) than the typical newspaper ad you can purchase from the local newspaper. A buyer can have a bigger selection to choose from and find the best prices possible for a motorhome or a boat. The seller will have more eyeballs looking at their boats or motorhomes and stand a much greater chance of getting that desired amount you wish to sell for. Who wouldn’t want to buy a motorhome and travel all across the country?

If I had a vehicle like this to travel in, I would make sure I visited all 48 states and probably Mexico and Canada too! A vacation on the road in a RV would be something most Americans dream of and probably something very few will do while they’re young. Driving long distances across the country may seem something for our retirement days, but many of us could afford it now, if we just started saving more money.

The same can be said for a nice boat and I would love to have a boat too. I love the feeling of a hot summer day and you put your boat in the lake right before the sun starts to go down. All summer evenings should be spent at the lake, but they’re ten times better, if you have a boat on the water to experience it first hand.

A motorhome or a boat is luxury items most of us can’t afford. It’s amazing how much money we can save when we really do want something and work hard to accomplish it. Buying these luxury items in used condition is one way to save tons of money. We don’t have to get a brand new RV to enjoy the full benefits of one. People place ads online everyday to sell motorhome or boats and we can get one much cheaper this way; than to buy one brand new. You can also place an online ad to tell people what you would like to buy and describe a motorhome or specific type of boat and let the sellers come find you. This goes for the dreamers seeking a nice RV or a fishing boat to buy or the people that already own these items and want to sell them.

Since a motorhome is such a big and expensive item, I would even suggest using a blog to help with your efforts. Start up a free blog and start posting in it a few times each week. Describe the motorhome you’re selling or the one you would like to buy and even add in pictures when you can. After you do this for a couple of months, you should be able to find links in the search engines and have buyers and sellers stopping by to post their comments or place their own motorhome ads. Yes, the kids are back in school and parents are free to have their homes back to normal now. I’m sure some parents will miss the kids; while others are glad to see school start back and give them a break from the summer madness, that’s been going on for the last couple of months. Most parents have already gotten a few pencils, pens, notebook paper, and folders before the first bell ever rung. The Hurricane Season was a little slow to start this year but it didn’t take the “named” storms long to pop-up when they did decide to come. Each year the weather folks give tropical depressions or tropical storms a name. They do this process in alphabetical order and this year’s first depression was named Ana. Soon after she appeared we got to see our first glimpse of Bill. It didn’t take long for the next one to roll-in either and this 3rd one was actually ahead of Ana and Bill. Tropical Storm Claudette was the 3rd storm of the year and it was detected late in the Gulf of Mexico. This 3rd weather system from the tropics is now on shore as it came in just west of Panama City Beach, Florida. Claudette made landfall early this Monday morning near Fort Walton Beach, Florida which is located in the panhandle between Destin and Panama City.

It doesn’t appear Claudette caused too much damage, but power outages and flooding is still a concern in Florida and the southern parts of Alabama. Ana is quickly losing steam and doesn’t appear it will affect the United States anytime soon. The big news right now is Bill and he is packing quite a punch in the Atlantic Ocean right now. Projected paths right now show it veering off from the U.S. coastlines, but still too early to tell. People living on the east coast of the United States in places like the Carolinas and Virginia could be in-store for some rough waves to come crashing in this weekend. If Hurricane Bill does decide to wobble; then North Carolina and other places up the northern coast could see some tropical moisture and winds from the 2nd tropical depression of the season. Everyone should keep a close eye on the weather this weekend and for the next couple of months as the hurricane season is just now beginning.

The sky rocketing health costs in this country is forcing patients to do without health care or going over the border for it. It’s true, the medical costs in Mexico is far cheaper than the Untied States right now. A lot of pressure is on the White House to deliver a healthcare package that is affordable for all Americans. That just isn’t happening right now and it seems they are spinning their wheels on capitol hill.

Americans want a healthcare system that is more affordable. We have seen news clips recently showing just how strong some people feel about this right now. It is a touchy subject for most in the U.S. and really no common ground to stand on at the moment. While things are not getting done at home, people seeking affordable doctor visits are turning to Mexico. I’m sure the Mexican government loves the Barrack Obama adminstration now and Mexico may prove to be a big winner from this healthcare crisis in the States.

I’m not close to the Mexican border, but probably could be there in 12 hours. I may just have to find out how cheap it is in Mexico and I might can pay for 12 hours worth of gas and an office visit there as opposed to going to my local doctor for treatment. All across the board, the medical costs are far cheaper in Mexico than the United States. I’m not sure how many Americans are making the trip across the border right now, but the numbers are sure to rise if the politics don’t stop in this country.

Where do you go to find Celebrity Speakers? I was always curious about this and often you see politicians or stars speaking on a high school or college campus. I know Evander Holyfield, the championship boxer, came to my high school and gave us a speech many years ago. It was nice to see someone as famous as him at my high school. Our assistant principal had a connection and was able to land him at our school. If you don’t poses those “connections”, I wonder how schools do get the celebrities to visit? On the flip side, it does make me very jealous to see this. Most of these people have made huge amounts of money in their lifetime and now they get to go speak to others and get paid for it! No celebrity should ever run out of money. As long as they can still tallk, I’m sure someone is around that will pay to have them speak.

In sports we always see Motivational Speakers that will find their way to a locker room and pump up the team before the big game. Often these are people that attended the school or played on the team in the past, that will go motivate the athletes. It’s a good strategy for coaches and some of these motivational speeches can be a big help. Just a few words from someone that is famous or respected can motivate someone to do more than they normally could. The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward does this a lot for his high school located just south of Atlanta. It does make you feel good to see famous athletes returning to their high schools and offering their services. I don’t think all athletes could be motivational speakers and some may need speaking tips before they talk to anyone.  

Some celebrities enjoy speaking at events or for good causes and will do their appearances for free. They are some that want big cash payments for their words of wisdom. I know Bill Clinton is someone that a lot of colleges try to book, but he costs a lot of money for his speeches. Former presidents are probably at the upper end of the food chain; when it comes to public speakers. I would be happy to go speak to a large crowd for some extra money, but I don’t think too many people would care to listen. I still would like to know where you could go to hire celebrity speakers. I would love to be the hero one day with the connections, like my assistant principal was, when he got Evander Holyfield to Cherokee High School.

There certainly hasn’t been a shortage of Michael Vick talk lately as everyone was trying to guess which NFL team he would land on next. The Michael Vick sweepstakes is now officially over and he has a new home. The fastest quarterback ever in the NFL will no longer be suiting up in his number 7 uniform that he wore for the Atlanta Falcons. He may get his same number, but now the jersey will have a lot of green in it.

Mr. Vick didn’t change his feathers much, but he has replaced Falcon feathers for the Eagles feathers. Michael Vick has agreed to a new two year deal that will have him suiting up on Sundays in a Philly uniform. It’s not clear why the Eagles won his services, since they do have 2 other solid quarterbacks on their roster right now. From Vick’s perspective, he may have wanted a team that had the Atlanta Falcons on their schedule this year and the Philadelphia Eagles will travel to the Georgia Dome to play the Atlanta Falcons on December 6. That should be one hot ticket in Hotlanta as Vick comes home to play his former team.

I think this is a good move for the Eagles or any other NFL team that wanted his services. A two year lay off may present some rust for Vick, but he’s still better than most of the players in the league, even if he has slowed down. It shouldn’t take him too long to get back into game shape and I wouldn’t even be surprised to see him starting in week 12 when they do face the Atlanta Falcons.

A Myrtle Beach Resort on the coast of South Carolina is just what the doctor ordered! Well not really, but you get my drift. These beautiful resorts are located all up and down the Carolina shorelines and who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend or even a week in one of these fabulous resorts?

I live in the Peach State of Georgia and the South Carolina border is just about 2 hours away from my North Georgia home. After I cross the S.C. border, it takes about another 4 hours to drive to the Myrtle Beach Resorts, that I want to travel to for a vacation. I know some may not be 6 hours away from Myrtle Beach and it may take a little more effort to get there. I will say that extra effort will be worth it, once you see the Atlantic Ocean from Myrtle Beach. I have been there 2 times in my life and enjoyed each trip very much. I can’t wait until I get a chance to go back for a 3rd time.

Myrtle Beach has changed so much over the years and some people say I won’t even recognize it; since it’s been so long ago when I visited there. I went with close relatives the first two times I went there. I’m ready to go with friends now and enjoy the luxuries of being an adult in Myrtle Beach. They do have a great party atmosphere, but Myrtle Beach is a lot more tame than some party beaches and the parents won’t have any problems taking the children to Myrtle Beach.

Summer is coming to an end and fall is just around the corner. You do want to travel to Myrtle Beach in the summer time or at least when the weather is warm, so you can enjoy the fun and sun on the beaches. I may can find better deals right now for Myrtle Beach Accomodations and I am living on a budget right now.  Most of these places that provide vacation spots for families, like Myrtle Beach, may have a sharp decrease in visitors when school starts back. Most of the schools in Georgia are back in business right now and I’m sure the same can be said for the schools in South Carolina. Maybe now is the perfect time (price wise) to make that trip across the border and stay in one of those luxury resorts Myrtle Beach has to offer.

Feel free to pass on any advice you may have about Myrtle Beach. The fall time of the year is the the best time to go deep sea fishing. If you don’t see me around anytime soon; then you know I grabbed the fishing pole and headed to the Atlantic Ocean via Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

If you’re in the process of remodeling the kitchen or plan to in the near future, you may want to add a little jk adams in the mix.
