This isn’t the headlines yet; but could we see this soon? No one knows for sure how far swine flu has reached globally and experts are still trying to get a grip on the situation. What Is Swine Flu?

Pigs are a host for many viruses. They are much like birds and can house many different viruses at one time. Normally these viruses are contagious in the swine or pig population and they can be transmitted easily to each other. It’s rare when a pig can give a human the virus to carry on but it does happen. This is the current situation we are dealing with now and the new virus is in humans and now humans are spreading it to each other.

Once a person first gets the virus in their body, they might not be sick right away. It can take several days to start feeling the effects of swine flu. During this time is when one human can give it to another human and not even know it. By the time the first person starts getting sick, it is usually too late because they have done gave it to several others. This process goes on and on and pretty soon large numbers are exposed to the swine flu virus.

From a global perspective the numbers are still very low. The part that concerns doctors and health officials the most is the fact that it is spreading and no way to stop it. It is likely that millions will be infected with the swine flu virus over the next several months. Every country in the world will have to prepare for this new strain of virus. The medical community has caught this swine flu pretty quick and gives them more time to prepare for this new mutated virus that is starting to spread.

Good News About Swine Flu

The good news about this awful virus right now is that it doesn’t appear to be too deadly. It is causing people to loose their life right now, but better medical treatments for patients could stop the death toll from rising. The latest viral medicines are working on the new strain of swine flu and it appears to be easy to deal with; than the previous virus over the winter. Even though the virus is new and a lot of questions still remain about how harmful it might really be, it isn’t as devastating as it could be. This is a relief to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) in Atlanta, Georgia. They seem pretty confident they will be able to deal with this on a local front in the United States and help other countries globally with this new strain of virus.

It’s funny how some leaders in the European Union are making such statements like “Don’t travel to the USA or Mexico”. You are actually better off in the United States since they do have a big supply of treatments on hand to take care of the sick. These treatments can deal with the symptoms of this new virus and make the sick feel more comfortable as they wait for their bodies to take care of the virus naturally. The swine flu is a global problem and there is no escape from its reaches or it would appear like that right now. The people in North America will be on the front line of solving the problem and they have the medicine and technology in medicine to deal with this problem the best. You would be much better off in the United States than any other country right now. This swine flu is beatable, but those in 3rd world nations or the ones that don’t get proper medical treatment might suffer fatal consequences right now. Help is available and anyone that gets cold or flu like symptoms over the next few months will want to see their local doctor and make sure they don’t have the new swine flu virus. Your local doctor’s office will be crowded over the next several months as everyone will be rushing in to see if they have this new virus. It’s a common over reaction in our society and the media does play a part in this. The doctors may have to work overtime right now, but it’s for a good reason and to make sure that this doesn’t become a bigger problem than it needs to be right now.

A new burger may be coming soon to a McDonalds restaurant near you! The company is planning to release a new hamburger this year. It was going to be released in the fall of 2009 but it appears things are speeding up and we may see this new burger this summer. The new burger will feature the Angus beef that is said to be so tasty. I personally don’t see the fascination with Angus beef and it’s not too tasty to me. I know many food and beef critics would disagree with me on the taste. The new hamburger from McDonalds that will be made with Angus beef should be a hot seller in the first few weeks.

McDonalds will not keep the new Angus beef burger on the menu at all times. This will be a promotional item they bring on the menu from time to time. It will work like the famous McRib sandwich they offer and will appear every so often on the McDonalds menu. I love the McRib from McDonalds and I always go there and order it a few times when it appears at my local McDonalds. Now the new Angus burger from McDonalds isn’t expected to be as good as the McRib or even the Big Mac for that matter. A company spokesperson even went on record to say that the McDonalds Angus Burger isn’t the Big Mac. It should offer another solid choice for those that like to eat at McDonalds regularly.

Would you like to try an award winning chili recipe? Susan Dean took top honors with this great chili recipe in 2008. Let’s look at the steps for making Susan’s famous chili recipe:

Step 1 – Combine 3 TB San Antonio Original Chili Power and 2 TB Mexene Chili Powder to create Susan’s chili powder blend.

Step 2 – Brown 2 pounds of coarse-ground beef. Cover with liquid and boil for 20 minutes.

Step 3 – Add the following and simmer for one hour
               One can 14 ½ Swanson beef broth
              1 -  8 oz can Hunt’s no-salt tomato sauce
              1 cube Knorr’s beef bullion
              1 cube Knorr’s chicken bullion
              3 TB Susan’s chili powder blend
              1 TB granulated onion
              1 TB paprika
              1 pk Sazon Goya
 
 Step 4 – Add the following and simmer for thirty minutes
              2 TB Susan’s chili powder blend
              1 tsp granulated garlic
              1 TB cumin

 Step 5 – Adjust heat with Louisiana “Original” Hot Sauce

I see so many things these days that I would have loved to have growing up as a kid. I would have loved a computer and the Internet while growing up and kids today probably couldn’t imagine life without a computer. I have always had a fantasy of having my own robot too. I liked Screech’s robot on the TV series Saved By the Bell. He was a nerd and had the brains to create his own robot and I never had brain power like that. You may not have that brain power either but there is a simple way to get a talking robot for the kids.

Buy.com currently has these Tribot Talking Robots on sale and this would make a nice surprise for the kids. They wouldn’t expect to be getting a talking robot and I’m sure they would love to hear it talk. I would have been the cool kid in the neighborhood, if I owned one of these robots as a kid. Have you ever seen one of these robots before? Today is the first time I have seen one like this and the price is very reasonable. I would have fun watching my twin 4 year old nephews playing with this and I would probably have to buy 2 of them, so they wouldn’t fight over playing with it. I think this is just the first step in the robot industry and I look for lots more to follow. I think robots will be made for adults in the near future to help them with daily tasks and make life easier on us. The robot technology is out there and talking robots is only the first step to the possibilities here.  I look forward to seeing technology produce robots 10 years from now and see where we stand then.

Hannah Montana is certanly enjoying her time in the spotlight as her new movie went to number 1 at the box office this past weekend. Miley Cyrus is the real name behind Hannah Montana and their success at Disney has carried over to the big screen. I think the movie will stay at number 1 until a new movie comes out on May 8th.

I think the new Star Trek movie will be huge and I look for it to be number 1 it’s opening weekend. It would have been fun to see which movie would have won if they both opened on the same weekend. I guess we will never know which movie fans wanted to see most, but the total figures should shed a light on which new movie has the most fans. I think the new Hannah Montana movie cleared about 34 million in sales this past weekend, so that is a high number for the Star Trek faithful to strive for.

The new Major League Baseball season is now open for business. Baseball began on Sunday night and now all of the teams are in action right now. It’s strange how they schedule games in some of the northern climates this early in the season. I think they should strive for more warm weather ball parks, so all games could get played this time of the year. They play spring ball in the states of Florida and Arizona. I think they should start the season at the spring facilities for each Major League team. Let the fans that support these teams in Arizona and Florida get to see a real game or one that counts in the standings. If they would just extend the spring session and let these games count on the real schedule, we wouldn’t have canceled games this early in the year. I’m sure there would be an increase in Orlando vacations being booked for the spring, but this would prevent the games getting postponed. I think the people in Florida and Arizona deserve to see a few games that count in the standings for the teams they support each year. They get to root for their teams in a real game and Major League Baseball will get 3 extra weeks for Mother Nature to warm up the rest of the country.

That has been one of the most powerful emails I have ever seen! In terms of marketing online and generating a buzz so fast; in 24 hours those words have reached the world and VineFire is still a very new website. The main thing in that email that has created the instant online buzz has been the date of payments. Now members vision a June payment in 2009 and this is a much shorter time frame than was expected. Do you like the popular song by the Eagles that is called Hotel California? I’m sure you have heard that song and many people know it well. The Eagles are very popular and Hotel California was one of their best songs; if not the best! I wonder how they came up with the lyrics to that song? I never have heard the story or inspiration behind the song Hotel California. I wasn’t sure if the band was staying at a Anaheim California hotel and just wrote down the lyrics late one night or if someone outside the band actually wrote the lyrics. It would be interesting to find out who wrote the song and why. It’s a cleverly written song and the music goes perfect with it. A lot of good things going on in sports right now. I’m sure advertisers and sponsors are trying to get in on the action. I know the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament has reached the final destination in Detroit; where the top 4 teams will be trying to be this year’s champion. The basketball players won’t be making any money for their efforts this weekend, but the schools and NCAA will be making lots of cash from advertisers and sponsors trying to fight for the spotlight.

The boys of summer are getting ready to start next week and baseball will be heavily watched in the early going. The baseball season does last 162 games and most fans don’t watch their teams play every game, but most will be tuned in next week when the first pitch gets thrown out at Major League baseball parks across the country. This is another good venue for advertisers to spend their money and trying to capture all the attention from fans watching their favorite baseball teams.

The NBA or National Basketball Association is winding down and the NBA Playoffs will be starting soon. This will be a competitive market for advertisers trying to get a LeBron James or Kobe Bryant using their product or service. A huge fan base will have their television sets on to watch their favorite NBA team and it’s very exciting to watch pro basketball in the post season. I think Major League Baseball would be the best way to spend an advertising dollar now and take advantage of the start of the new season and the fact that baseball is more laid back than the basketball games.
